1. Are you familiar with the author, Ray Bradbury (Fahrenheit 451, The Halloween Tree, The Martian Chronicles, etc)?I read Fahrenheit and The Halloween Tree. I wasn't a fan of them, so I hope I'll like the short format a little more!
2. What do you thing the story is about?
A storm? I actually have no idea :p
3. Do you usually read short stories? If yes, do you have some favorites?
Yes, I like reading some shorts here and there!
I loved: The Fluted Girl, Little Knife, Brimstone and Marmalade & The Witch of Duva.
Part 1 Questions: 1. Are you familiar with the author, Ray Bradbury (Fahrenheit 451, The Halloween Tree, The Martian Chronicles, etc)? I have heard of him, but have never read any of his works before. I have Fahrenheit 451 on my TBR list, but that's as close as I've gotten to reading him previously.
2. What do you thing the story is about? I have no idea. The title would lead me to suggest something about a storm, but I would assume there is more to it than that.
3. Do you usually read short stories? If yes, do you have some favorites? I really haven't read many short stories over the years, no. I have a couple on my list for next year's challenge, so maybe I will find some that I like.
1. I have heard about him and his books, but I haven't read any of them.2. A thunder storm....
3. I read a few each year, I like them but I usually forget them if they are in a collection. I like most of Thomas Olde Heuvelt's stories.
Part 1 Questions: 1. Are you familiar with the author, Ray Bradbury (Fahrenheit 451, The Halloween Tree, The Martian Chronicles, etc)?
I’ve read Fahrenheit 451, but it was when I was in university, which was some time ago. I’m aware he’s a pretty big name in classic sci-fi and I’ve intended to read more by him for years.
2. What do you think the story is about?
I assume something set on another planet or involving aliens/future tech.
3. Do you usually read short stories? If yes, do you have some
favourites?
I’m not a huge short story reader, though I do like them when I do. Recently I read Children of the New World and I really enjoyed that collection. I also really like the short stories of Alice Munro and Margaret Atwood.
1. Are you familiar with the author, Ray Bradbury (Fahrenheit 451, The Halloween Tree, The Martian Chronicles, etc)? I read Fahrenheit 451 in high school and loved it and The Halloween Tree last year in this group ... but I really didn't like it, although I learned many things :P2. What do you thing the story is about? I know it is about Time Travel, because I found it on some list of the best Time Travel stories when I was looking for suggestions to read for that category in the challenge, but that's it.
3. Do you usually read short stories? If yes, do you have some favorites? I am not sure! I mean, I love The Body which is in the collection of Short stories Different Seasons, but it didn't feel short, so maybe I have problems to identify how long a short story can be :D. I have read some collections of stories and enjoy many of them.
1. Yes, I am familiar with Ray Bradbury. It's been a long time since I've read his books, including Fahrenheit 451, Something Wicked this Way Comes, and Dandelion Wine. 2. I read the blurb about the story before voting so, yes, I have an idea what it's about. Classic SF! I'm looking forward to reading it later this week.
3. I do like short stories, especially when my attention span is short. My favorite are SF stories. I have numerous collections which are waiting to be read! My favorite is Ken Liu's Paper Menagerie and Other Stories. Stephen King has some good ones, also.
1. Are you familiar with the author, Ray Bradbury (Fahrenheit 451, The Halloween Tree, The Martian Chronicles, etc)?I know of him as he’s such a famous author but I haven’t read any of his books before.
2. What do you thing the story is about?
I’m actually answering this after reading the story, but I think I expected it to be about a surprising or shocking event as that’s what thunder makes me think of.
3. Do you usually read short stories? If yes, do you have some favourites?
I don’t read them often, but I read a wonderful short story collection by Raymond Carver earlier this year which sparked my interest in reading more short stories.
1. Are you familiar with the author, Ray Bradbury (Fahrenheit 451, The Halloween Tree, The Martian Chronicles, etc)? I read Fahrenheit 451.2. What do you think the story is about? I actually don't know and kind of want to be surprised so I don't know what to expect.
3. Do you usually read short stories? If yes, do you have some favorites? I have read several in the past couple of years. Before that I don't think I read any since high school. I recently read a collection of Agatha Christie short stories. I read The Moth and I really enjoyed A Permanent Member of the Family. A couple of the stories in A Permanent Member of the Family really stuck with me.
