2018 Zany Zodiak - Questions & Discussion

As long as the face is in profile, it can be attached to a whole body.
Sorry that I missed your question about the Dutch author. I'd say he's Dutch enough. :)

I am just wondering if I can use Cinder for the female under 20. She is female but is a cyborg.
Also, for clouds, do they have to be earth clouds. I was..."
Yes to both.

It was meant as I joke, not harsh, do you should I remove it?"
I think she was teasing. No harm done.

No worries. I was still half asleep when I read your question and couldn't quit wrap my head around it. Now that I've had a cup of coffee, I'm more alert.

It was meant as I joke, not harsh, do you should I remove it?"
You're good. Gave me a good laugh.

Yes, that will work.

At least half of the book needs to be set in November.
I'm not sure what you mean about counting the pages after you finish. You're counting the pages to determine how much is set in November? If this was a book I was gophering for my personal challenge, I'd probably give it a pass and slot something else in there that would be more obvious.

Alright, back to gophering.

It's come to my attention that the link to the list "Best Western Books" for the Bull task in Taurus did not copy correctly. I've checked a few threads, and what ended up being copied over to personal threads was "Best Books Ever". I suspect the link was truncated during the copying.
You may want to check other links as well.

If not I could I go with this?

or perhaps

And for Cancer – Rose Quartz
- Read a book with a rose(s) on the cover, or the cover is 75% pink in colour.
would this be ok?

Also for Scorpio – Copper
- Copper is a metal, not a stone. Read a book with a metal weapon or tool on the cover.
Would this go?

Sorry to trouble but it's my first challenge like this and I'm not quite sure if I'm doing it right.

If the name is made of more than one word, like the japanese spider crab or the sally lightfoot crab, does the title of the book need both words or one of the two is enough?

I noticed this, Janice. I thought the problem was perhaps because I accidentally didn't copy the full link - ? but not sure about that.
I had to correct a couple of other links with same issue. Again, I think I maybe I didn't cut and paste full link first time. Hopefully, got that fixed.

Totally teasing cody, sorry. I always forget that text lacks tone. I'll be more careful in future :-(
Please don't take comment down - best laugh i had in a long time he he

Ah cool :)
still getting this social media thing down and I know I can / do frequently go too far in real life :), finding the balance is more difficult with just text!

What a co-inky-dink!
Janice mentioned this last year, and I had expressed an interest then. Debra bought the audio for me around that time, and I plan on listening to it this year for the holidays as well.

Night at the Museum: The Junior Novelization ,adapted from film which was adapted from a children's book The Night at the Museum
or Sex And The City: The Movie Movie Companion , a romantic comedy film, .and a sequel to the HBO comedy series of the same name, itself based on the book Sex and the City by Candace Bushnell Two separate books. I'd rather read the original by Bushnell.

I sometimes get it wrong to. It's difficult without any queues (is that the right way to spell it - you know the word i'm looking for!). I enjoy you're comments cody - you are funny ;-D

Yes, you're good to go.

Just one word is all that's required. You can have a book with Japanese or Spider in it. Doesn't need to be both. There is no "sally lightfoot crab" listed in the options. Only the words specified in the task will be accepted.
Here's the task again for your convenience - These are the names of common crab varieties: Coconut, Hermit, Horseshoe, King, Japanese Spider, Dungeness, Rock, Snow, Blue, or Fiddler Crab. Read a book with any of those words (other than “crab”) in the title. I’ll get crabby if you try to sneak “Crab” in.

I did a ruling on that question, or a similar one. If a specific word is required in the title, and you are reading an edition in another language, you will need to translate the title in your report. That falls under the "explain anything that's not obvious" guideline.
If you are reading a book in Dutch and the title isn't part of the task, you don't need to translate it - but it would be nice. We're a curious bunch.

Bring me coffee, and I can answer these. Why did I not sit down with a cup of coffee this morning instead of a glass of water? Seriously.
The movie is to be an adaption of a book, not the other way around where the book is written as a result of the movie. If you are not reading the book from which the movie was adapted, then the title of the book you read must match the movie title exactly.
So no, to both your questions. However, you did mention Sex and the City. That is the adapted book, and an exact title, so you don't need the movie companion.
See, I need coffee.

Thank you! In that case I have my book. 12 more to find and I'm all set. :)

... for me as a 'Brit'... what's a Ute? I thought it was a German girl's name and have a disturbing image of fat Fraeulein weightlifter with pigtails and freckles.*
*Disclaimer
Sorry folks, but I knew a Ute once. I'm sure most Utes are petite and very charming.

Just so you know Peggy, I was secretly hoping for some inspiration from you on the subject of Dutch literature. ; P

See Message 93 :D"
Ahh. Missed that. Sometimes a picture is all it needs.

You clearly never watched neighbours or home and away as a kid/teen.

No, the pressure!
I have to admit that I hardly ever read books by Dutch authors.
The Miniaturist and Girl with a Pearl Earring are both set in the Netherlands. (not written by Dutch authors though)
I read The Secret Diary of Hendrik Groen, 83¼ Years Old and the sequel this year and thought it was fantastic.
I have no idea how many Dutch books get translated to other languages. One of the GR lists is probably more helpful than me ;-)

Nope. It was a matter of principle ('cos everyone else did). I was definitely an outsider as a teen.
If only I'd watched ... ohh the education I missed (sigh) lol

Thank you, Janice :)

Another one that I enjoyed (and has a translation) is Love Life. The translated title is crappy so don't let that scare you away.
Oh, and this is a list of some of the Dutch books I've read on my GR shelves. Might be helpful too :)

Luckily you found some Aussies to help with your education ;)

Gotta get my list of reads sorted now.

If Sean Penn acted in the movie The Warriors can I read the book Into the Wild The series title is The Warriors.
or Rise of the Fallen with series title All The King's Men for the movie with the same name?
I would also have the same question for Glenn Close who acted in Warcraft. Can I read Day of the Dragon for which the Series name is WarCraft?
And does Sunshine go for Ralph Fiennes?
For Aquarius – Turquoise Read a book where the main theme is magic. Will any of these 2 do?
Practical Magic
A Darker Shade of Magic
For profile on cover can I go with this?

And for Taurus – Jasper Read a book where illness (mental, emotional or physical) is a major theme would Keeping Faith be ok?
For Water on the cover will this do?

For the fire on the cover will this be ok?

I'm confused. Which task are you asking about? I don't think I wrote any that requires the zodiac signs to be in the title.
