Kristie | 5928 comments I count my audiobooks too, Kaley! I always do.

Is there any particular genres you like or dislike for recs?

Everyone - There is a task for reading "A book recommended by someone else taking the Popsugar Reading Challenge" so if you have recs for people this is a great place to post them!

Also, if you see a book that is mentioned in another book, this would be a great place to note that too.

Any other questions or recommendations needed, just ask!

Ashley | 4 comments I'm in!! :D
My original Goal for the year was 40 books but I'm going to see if maybe I can get more!! I'd love to complete this challenge and then some, but we'll see how it goes!

Question: For the Nordic Noir does it have to be an actual Scandinavian/Swedish/Nordic book/author... or does a book from the view point of a US FBI agent count as well?

Kristie | 5928 comments Ashley - I would say it actually has to be Nordic. Is the US FBI agent in Scandinavia/ Sweden for some reason on your book? There may be a grey area there if you wanted to interpret it that way, if that was the case.

Ashley Riches (ashleyriches) | 80 comments Kristie wrote: "Absolutely, Ashley! Welcome!"

Thanks! I have two questions.

1. For the task where you read a book that someone else doing the challenge recommends, does that mean while going through comments you can select a book that someone read for one of their tasks. Or does that mean someone has to personally recommend a book?

2. This is my first year doing this, so could you please explain what reading a book from your favorite prompt from previous years means?

Thanks and sorry to bother you guys.

message 79: by Kristie, Moderator (Retired) (new)

Kristie | 5928 comments No bother at all, Ashley!

For the task where you read a book that someone else doing the challenge recommends, I would say that they need to actually recommend it because they may read a book for the challenge that they didn't like and would not recommend. I would think that if no one post recommendations here, you could probably just go to the bookshelf of someone else doing the challenge and read a book that they rated 5 stars. I'm pretty sure that anyone would recommend something they found to be a 5 star read. Feel free to browse my shelves if you like.

For the previous years prompts, you need to choose a task to complete from a previous Popsugar challenge. You can use the following links to go to the previous challenges and see what the tasks were.

Previous Popsugar Reading Challenges:
2015
2016
2017

Also, there are a few references in the 3rd post of this thread for a few of the tasks. Feel free to check those out too.

Kristie | 5928 comments I'm currently reading a book, When I Wake Up, that has mentioned 3 other books so far. Part of it is set in a library and one character is a librarian, so there may be more mentioned later.

So far, these are the titles:
Delta of Venus
Affinity
Tipping the Velvet

I haven't read any of them, so I cannot recommend them, but they fit the task for a book mentioned in another book.

I took a quick look and compared books. I only saw one book on your TBR that I had read and you hadn't. I'll think of a few books I enjoyed and recheck your read shelf when I have a bit more time.

We have a few people that have the same names doing the challenge, so I tried to identify at least one of you with something added to your name. Also, I noticed our two Nicoles are both from Canada, but I used that as an identifier for one of you. If anyone would like to change or add an identifier, just let me know.

I see you have Voyager on your list. I started this series too! I have only read book 1 so far. Did you read Dragonfly in Amber? If so, did you like it?

Shamber, I totally forgot about "Dragonfly in Amber" Lol! I was in the middle of that one and forgot all about it! Guess I should finish that one before I start "Voyager! But, what I've read of Dragonfly is really goo. I've been enjoying the series a lot even if it has taken me over a year to get through 1.5 of the books. It's a big investment with each book being about 1000 pages!
