Bill | 2150 comments Lol it happens to the best of us. I had read 11 of the 12 books I bought this year when August roled around and I picked up 32 books. Looks like a fantastic haul though.

October beginning?

Ella Enchanted's author said she was inspired to write the book while reading this one - which is why I am so interested.

Have you read Ella Enchanted!

Laura (lauradragonchild) | 6554 comments October beginning is good for me Karishma.
And I haven't read Ella Enchanted. Is it good?

I may try to squeeze one of them in October, perhaps another one in November ? The ones I'm the most eager to read are Pestillence and The invisible library I think.

Yes, it is very very good and you should definitely read it sometime.

I have read everything by the author and now I'm reading the books she was influenced by.

I'll add it to my TBR.

message 267: by Laura (new)

Laura (lauradragonchild) | 6554 comments I have just removed 45 of my old books from my shelves as I'll probably never read them and my brother in law will appreciate the pile so I'll call it even for yesterday's haul.

Not quite 5 to 1 as ratios go, but still more out then in.
I tried to give up more of them. I swear I did. But each of them seems interesting in a way or other, or some of my GR friends gave good reviews for them... So it's kind of difficult to let them go. My babies need to stay!!!! Even if it will take years for me to read them all!

message 268: by Elinor (new)

Elinor | 1548 comments Good job Laura !! I can't remove books from my shelves. I've tried already but I can't. I would really like to though to get a more manageable TBR but I'm always thinking "ok you wanted to read it 3 years ago and right now you're not so sure anymore... but what if you DO want to at some point ?"

As for the reads... hum... Pestilence first ?

Thank you lovely!!! Actually - ME NEITHER! :)

And still.. The problem is lately I've been reading so many library and borrowed titles that I stalled at this challenge. And I didn't stop buying either - which kind of sucks! :(
At least I didn't buy that many as you. :D

2. Dark Lover
3. The Tyrant's Law
4. Destiny's Conflict
5. Tales from Earthsea

Reward: - TBA - my first in a long long time

message 298: by Laura (new)

Laura (lauradragonchild) | 6554 comments Round 40 (my last one for this year) will stay incomplete with only 2 or 3 books, depending on how many I can read until the end of this year. But I'll set a TBA reward regardless, as a Christmas gift to myself. :D

1. Lover Eternal
2.
3.

Reward: - TBA

Also, I got a nice bookish Xmas present:
Transformation
Revelation
Restoration
for which I'm not going to compensate anything. Cause Christmas is once in a year!! :))

message 299: by Laura (new)

Laura (lauradragonchild) | 6554 comments So here's my update here for this whole year. Gah! I really need to make time and update this more often!

1.The Other Wind
2. East
3. Fablehaven
4. Before I Fall
5. Lover Awakened
6. Itch: Nine Tales of Fantastic Worlds
7. War Horse
8. Looking for Alaska
9. Rise of the Evening Star
10. The White Gryphon
11. The Silver Gryphon
12. Dark Angel
13. The Chosen
14. Grip of the Shadow Plague
15. Secrets of the Dragon Sanctuary
16. Soulmate
17. The Fork, the Witch, and the Worm: Eragon
18. Lover Revealed
19. Keys to the Demon Prison
20. Ysabel
21. The Young Elites
22. Huntress
23. Black Dawn
24. Witchlight
25. Momo
26. We Bought a Zoo
27. Raven's Shadow
28. Raven's Strike
29. The Ghost and the Graveyard
30. The Amber Spyglass
31. The Last Light of the Sun
32. The Hob's Bargain
33. The Rose Society
34. The Midnight Star
35. Dragonsong
36. The Lascar's Dagger
37. Dawnthief (Chronicles of the Raven, #1)
38. Nine Princes in Amber
39. Dark Currents
40. If You Hear Her
41. The White Company

Yeay me! I got to clear up 41 titles from my owned to read shelf.
To be honest, I am not sure how many books I bought this year. Not many though so it shouldn't make that much of a difference. Getting Kindle Unlimited has helped me a lot in cutting down my book buying spree.

So I'll allow myself to buy 8 books for the 41 read till now and I'll try and limit my buying to the titles I really need to finish a series or badly want cause I love the author.
