Yes, the next book, The Tower of Living and Dying, will be out in summer 2018, the third and final book in summer 2019. And short stories set in the Empires of Dust world are/will be in the Art of War anthology, Legends III and Grimdark Magazine #12.(less)

Apologies for not replying sooner - I've been off besporting myself at a convention ... Thank you so much for the kind words. There are three books in the series (it's fantasy - a trilogy is the legal requirement). Book two, The Tower of Living and Dying, is due out summer 2018, the third book will follow in 2019. I've also got stories set in the Empires of Dust world in Grimdark Magazine #12, and in two or three forthcoming anthologies. Most importantly, a short story set in the world is in The Art of War anthology which Booknest.Eu is publishing to raise funds for Medecines Sans Frontiers (Doctors Without Borders). I'm extremely proud to be able to support this cause through my writing. (less)

Brilliant. Frightening - genuinely mentally unpleasant, my brain itched as I read it. As Adrian Tchaikovsky says in his introduction, it's rare for people to write well and deeply about the aftermath of violence, about its effect on the perpetrator, ...more

In places, the prose comes so near to perfection that I could not read it without weeping. Absolutely nothing happens. A world happens. Mesmerising.

Skip the cricket bit.

A beautiful book. Dated, of course. Strange to read, as so much of the imagery of the Merlin trilogy is pre-empted here, images from Stewart's masterpiece seem to haunt the book. In some ways disappointing, as an early novel that makes one so aware o ...more

What can I say? Superb. And that most over-used, often entirely inaccurate, term, 'fresh'. This is epic fantasy as historical fiction. It could be historical fiction - the language and the setting are convincingly Tudor; issues such as magic arise ve ...more

Brilliant. A gripping, convincing portrait of early Medieaval Britain, beautifully written and with a deep sense of the author's love for the landscapes and stories he's writing about. There's a lovely flippancy to his reading of history, also, which ...more

Absolutely insane. But it makes as much sense of Alexander's life as many academic articles I've read. And Parmenio is ... Parmenio.
