Would Pride Over Pity by Kailyn Lowry work for this prompt? I think so since it is close to Pride and Prejudice, but I just thought I would make sure.

It goes against the grain for me to use this category for fiction when so many exist already, and this category is perfect for sneaking some nonfiction in, but there's another reading group where July's theme is banned books and I own a copy of
Lady Chatterley's Lover
by D. H. Lawrence that would be perfect for both. Another novel that I'm using for another category, but which would fit here, is
Les Liaisons Dangereuses
by Pierre Choderlos de Laclos, which retains its original French title despite being an English translation by P. W. K. Stone. The nonfiction titles I've been considering for this category are:
Modern Music and After: Directions Since 1945 by Paul Griffiths
Contemporary Composers on Contemporary Music by Elliott Schwartz and Barney Childs (eds.)
The Modern Mind: An Intellectual History of the 20th Century by Peter Watson
Black Boy by Richard Wright
Living My Life by Emma Goldman
Heretics and Heroes: How Renaissance Artists and Reformation Priests Created Our World by Thomas Cahill
Darwin's Dreampond: Drama in Lake Victoria by Tijs Goldschmidt
Gaining Ground: The Origin and Evolution of Tetrapods by Jennifer Clack
And at least one poetry anthology I own would fit as well:
The Works of Walt Whitman by Walt Whitman
Would Eleanor Oliphant is Completely Fine meet this prompt? Or does an alliteration require the same consonant/vowel?
I read 84, Charing Cross Road this weekend and thought I would fit in in here as it doesn't fit any of my other open categories. However, based on someone's definition above of alliteration not only having the same letters but the same sounds, I'm not sure this fits as the "Ch" sound is quite different than the "Cr" sound. I'll have to replace it with something else, I think. Time to read The Great Gatsby!
Finished
by A.J. Finn-- 5 Stars.I couldn't put this one down!
My Review:

I saw where someone asked this on the 2nd page but there wasn't an answer that I saw. Would any of the books from Sue Grafton's A - Y series work? Ex: A is for Alibi
I read It Happens in the Hamptons by Holly Peterson. Decent / OK beach read, which aren't always my cup of tea. A mystery is included that I thought I figured out, but I missed one Big piece of it. That kept me reading.
Coming Clean - 4 stars - highly recommendThe author grew up with parents that are hoarders. Although there is some description of the mess, she does a really good job of making these people human which I think sometimes gets lost in this disorder. Very interesting.
For this one I finished Ursula, Under, the story of a little girl who fell down a mineshaft, and how all the stories of her ancestors contributed to her being exactly where she was. It was such a slow burner for me. Maybe it was because I didn't get enough about Ursula and her predicament before the story swung to the first of her ancestors. I'll be honest, I couldn't be less interested in reading about some self-indulgent alchemist dude way back thousands of years ago, and I put the book down a lot in that first 50 pages. Lucky for the book/me, I was on holiday with no other books left to read, so on I ploughed. I'm glad I persisted though, as the modern-day story and most of the ancestral flashbacks bringing us to that point were a lot stronger than the start. I was hooked in and really wanted to know if Ursula was rescued, and even warmed to some of the stories of her ancestors. This is a saga, it spans thousands of years. I think the concept was a bit more exciting than the execution, but at its core it is a good (slightly overwritten*) tale of how we are all valuable cogs in the movement of time.
*and I couldn't ignore Hill's tick of saying "back of" instead of behind...urgh, rage.
I read Daring to Drive: A Saudi Woman's Awakening and The Woman in the WindowI think they both could fit this category
I'm going to read The Haunting of Hill House by Shirley Jackson. I haven't read a Gothic horror book for so long, I'm excited to read this one.
hey guys, is "(leah) on the offbeat" alliteration and if it is can i read it for the "a book with alliteration in the title" prompt even if i'm reading it in portuguese and the title in portuguese is "leah fora de sintonia"?
I read Insidious Intent by Val McDermid for this prompt - it's a cracking crime thriller if you like that sort of thing!

Edit: (I just realized you were probably matching on/offbeat for alliteration, which I didn't even see at first because I tend to discount the 'filler' words. I don't think I would use it for alliteration, but if you're okay with stretching prompts a bit, I could see counting the english version and using it. I think others have used books for the ugly cover prompt when some other edition than the one they actually read counts as a ugly cover, which seems similar.)

The Gentleman's Guide to Vice and Virtue or Beastly Bones will be what I read. The first I can use for multiple tasks(LGQBT protagonist) but the second one also fits, and I really enjoyed the first book, so we'll see.
