I'll be continuing in the Out of the Box series by Robert J. Crane for this prompt. Currently on book 12, so this one will be book 13, Toxicity. phenomenal series!
I think I'm gonna go with the second book of the Deanna Madden series which is Do Not Disturb by A.R. Torre
Ldees wrote: "I am not in the middle of a series. Would starting a series fulfill this prompt?"Definitely! If there's a series you've been thinking of reading, or one you discovered recently, the first book could fit into another challenge category, then follow up the with the second book to fulfill this one.
Just finished up the last book (to date) of the Dresden Files series, Skin Game. Definitely the best in the series by far. It was preceded by a few titles that weren't as enjoyable, but pushing through those to get to Skin Game was worth it!
I am going to read Time's Edge.I read Timebound as part of my 2017 Reading Challenge, and this one is on my TBR and already-owned shelf. Perfect excuse to read it.

I read The Thousandth Floor in 2017, when I went to the bookshop I saw the next one in the series called The Dazzling Heights. so I'm reading that :).
I'm probably going to read Another One Bites the Crust after the author Ellie Alexander comes to town later this month.
I just finished Beneath the Sugar Sky by Seanan McGuire for anyone who read her first 2 Wayward Children books, it's not my absolute favorite of the series but still really good and a fast read.
I just finished Little Men for this prompt (and my first checked off for the year). I started it in December technically, but really couldn't get into it so it took a while to read the whole thing. I am currently debating if I should read the final book in the series (Jo's Boys) or not. I don't have high hopes for it, but I have always wanted to finish this series as a whole, since I grew up reading Little Women with my mother. I am just worried if I switch to another series or just an enjoyable book, that I won't ever come back to this one.
Question: I've read Philip Pullman's His Dark Materials Trilogy about 10 times (maybe more). I just today finished the recently published prequel, La Belle Sauvage, which is itself the first in a new trilogy called The Book of Dust. Could this be considered the next in a series, do you think? Technically it's a prequel, and I guess the next book in the series takes place *after* His Dark Materials...so it's complicated. But it definitely goes along with the original trilogy, so......
I think so. It isn’t the first series that if you read it in publication order you aren’t reading it chronologically.
Thanks!! That’s what I thought too. I’ll probably read something else later in the year that fits, too, but... *shrugs*
What do I know, my comment is the same as the first one. I am starting “The Chronicles of Narnia” by C. S. Lewis and I too have only read the magicians nephew and the lion the witch and the wardrobe. I have had this complete book series for a long long time now. Since primary school. What I really want to read is “The Girl Who Takes an Eye for an Eye” by David Lagercrantz (/Stieg Larsson). I love these books so much I don’t want to rush through them for a challenge.
I went with Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets; it was between this and The Beast Within: A Tale of Beauty's Prince but this book was due back first. Loving both of these series.
I went with "The Sleeping Beauty Killer" by Mary Higgins Clark & Alafair Burke. It's the next book in a series of novels in their "Under Suspicion" series. I also read "Every Breath You Take", which is the 4th book in that series. I'm not sure which prompt I'll use that one for.
I just started the Louise Penny series of mysteries set in Quebec. I read the first one, Still Life at Christmas and have just finished Dead Cold (published as "A Fatal Grace in the states). It was even better than the first. Can't wait to get #3. The main character, Chief Inspector Gamache is a wonderful character that you can't help but like
I read a lot of series, but one of my newer ones is The Chronicles of St. Mary's, by Jodi Taylor. Last year I read the first book in the series, Just One Damned Thing After Another, and I recently finished the second A Symphony of Echoes. The series also involves Time Travel, so it ticks two boxes.
I’ve been thinking and I don’t have a book serie that I haven’t finished. I guess I’ll start a new one! Probably Elena Ferrante.
One series I never see mentioned is the Maisie Dobbs mysteries by Jaqueline Winspear. If you like Louise Penny check them out.
Jessica wrote: "Also I am switching it up with "2nd chance" by James Patterson, since I already read the first book in the woman's murder club series. https://images.gr-assets.com/books/13..."
I really enjoy the Women's Murder Club series! Hope you will too!
Am reading The Girl in the Spiders Web, having read the others in the Millenium series, however not enjoying it as much as the others so far! Will plough on!
The Secret Diary of Adrian Mole, Aged 13 3/4 holds a special place in my heart, and it just occurred to me that I haven't read all the books in the series, so now I'm very excited about this prompt!
I'm a fan of Tony Hillerman, a while ago I started reading his books from the beginning in sequence. For the challenge I read his fourth book in the Jim Chee series, People of Darkness
I just completed Catilina's Riddle for this prompt. I would highly recommend this series for anyone interested in Ancient Rome.
I read Death Note, Vol. 2: Confluence for my next book in a series prompt. I could have read this entire series in a weekend if I had all the books but I have put myself on a book buying ban and I'm grateful the book my daughter gave me had both volumes 1 and 2 in it. I may need to cheat on my ban to get he rest of them. I need answers! Highly recommend especially if you are afraid of comics or manga like I was.
Just picked up book #3 Reached by Ally Condie. I recommend this series a lot for people who like other types of Societies.
Angela wrote: "Just read Authority as my #3 - next book in a series. It was great! I would recommend this trilogy for sure!"Me too! I liked it even better Annihilation.
I had narrowed down the list to:1. Poirot Investigates by Agatha Christie
2. Cabin Fever by Jeff Kinney
3. Gather Together in My Name by Maya Angelou.
I decided to go with Maya Angelou. Can't wait to read it!
For those of you who aren't in the middle of a series and are looking to start a shorter series that will fill another prompt on the list as well and then continue on to this prompt (& possibly more) I have a couple ideas for you that I have enjoyed! (I have rated each of these 3-4/5 stars)Shanghai Girls by Lisa See - Book #1 ⭐️⭐️⭐️
Dreams of Joy by Lisa See - Book #2 ⭐️⭐️⭐️
Both books in this series could count for multiple prompts:
7. Set In a Country that fascinates you - Mostly China (with a little USA)
10. A Book about Death/Grief (There are some serious struggles and at least one death in each of these novels)
14. A Book by an author of a different ethnicity: See is Chinese-American
41. A Bestseller from the year you graduated high school (Shanghai Girls was a bestseller in 2010)
44. A Book tied to your ancestry (if you are Chinese)
47. Author with same name (if your name is Lisa)
50. A Book recommended by someone else taking this challenge
In this series each book has different prompts it fulfills...
Me Before You by Jojo Moyes - Book #1⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
1. A Book Made Into a movie you've already seen
Movie is also called Me Before You and was done in 2016
7. A Book set in a country that fascinates you (Small Town in England)
10. A Book about death or grief
16. A Book about mental health
41. A Bestseller from the year you graduated high school (was a bestseller in 2016)
49. A Book about a Problem facing society today (view spoiler)

50. A Book recommended by someone else taking this challenge
Still Me by Jojo Moyes - Book #3
-This I haven't read yet so it would possibly fit more than what I list below:
3. The Next Book In a Series you started
28. A Book with song lyrics in the title
34. A Book that's published in 2018
50. A Book recommended by someone else taking the challenge
Storm wrote: "I put The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe for this one. I’m finally reading Narnia!"I love that series. I reread them many times when I was a child (HP weren´t written then). And you can use them for a lot of the prompts.
I choose End of Watch by Stephen King to finish the Mr. Mercedes series. I just found out they made the first book into a TV series last year, which is now on my watch list.
Maybe everyone else has already figured this out, but I just noticed that GoodReads puts the name of the series and the book number in parentheses after the book title, which made me realize that some of the books I've read or that are on my TBR list are actually, technically in a series. So one way to find a book for this prompt is to scroll through your bookshelves and look for anything listed after the title. This is how I found Hidden Bodies, the book I'm using - I had You in my TBR (reading it for the "bookstore or library" prompt), and saw that it's book #1 of the "You" series.

I just started Speaker for the Dead, the sequel to Ender's Game. I loved Ender's game, and I'm not too far into this one, But I can't get into it yet. Hoping it gets better!
Stephani wrote: "I just started Speaker for the Dead, the sequel to Ender's Game. I loved Ender's game, and I'm not too far into this one, But I can't get into it yet. Hoping it gets better!"SftD is much different than Ender's Game. It may be a stretch, but I would recommend Ender's Shadow, which is a book about the events of Ender's Game, but from Bean's perspective. Maybe not technically the next book in the Ender series, but I would read it regardless. And, there are about 4 sequels to it and they are all fantastic!
I read Where the Dead Lie by C.S. Harris. I love the Sebastian St Cyr series. It's set in the Napoleonic era in England. Sebastian and Hero are great characters. The only part I don't like is the soap opera between Sebastian and Kate which lessens as the series marches on. It's one of my favorite historical mysteries ever. I highly recommend it.
I finished The Obelisk Gate by The Obelisk Gate on Feb 4. I probably wouldn't have without the challenge prompt, and I wish I hadn't. The first one seemed like amazing sci fi that had yet to reveal it's mysteries, but the second one chickened out and took refuge in fantasy. Fantasy is a fine genre, but really good sci fi is a dying breed.
I finished Library of Souls. Better than the second book, not as good as the first.I don't usually read fantasy or young adult books, so the Peculiar Children series is very different to what I usually like. It was the photos that hooked me in to the first book when my son took it out of the library, and I've basically just nicked his copies of all the books. This book doesn't disappoint, with all it's twists and turns. Some of those twists and turns are obvious before they happen, and a lot of the time they're too convenient, which annoyed me a little as it was a bit lazy...but I have to remember this is a YA book. It's just as strange as you would expect and the story keeps you reading. I was disappointed about the pictures, the main reason I started this series in the first place, as pretty much none of them added to the story and some were shoehorned in really awkwardly. But plot holes and artistic licenses aside, it was a good read.
