Happy anniversary!
And so glad you could celebrate with cautious optimism about the wee one - they are so precious.

At 6, when I woke up the first time, I reached for the industrial-strength-ear-protection-headgear-with-eye-mask that lives next to my bed. It squeezes my head a bit (so I don't wear it every moment in bed), but blocks all light and sound - and I slept three more hours!
Don't know if you could use something like that, since you have to be aware for the kitties, but it sure helps with sleep deprivation. I am a much more pleasant person to be around if I've had a reasonable amount of sleep!

Both have the advantage that they can look beautiful in pretty much any weather. The north light after rain with the cloud so heavy there are virtually no shadows is something special :-)

I think you'll be better for it to be honest. I think you could really benefit from a job which challenges you a bit and stretches you

Yes Jim, I think so too. I was really excited when they told me they were waiting for an offer coming through for me. And this job will be a challenge but hopefully a good one :o)

London was very hot and very busy. It's not for me! Impressed by how easy it is to get around on the tube and buses now with contactless payment though.
Well done on job Jud, you will definitely be happier doing something useful! Worrying time for your family Lynne, I hope the antibiotics finally knock the illness on its head!

That's really promising Jud, shame they can't make it more permanent. Sorry you didn't like London R!

I think it'll do you the world of good, you're too good to waste :-)

Cloudy and a hint of drizzle but promises to get out later
Which is lucky because I've got a pleasant walk planned

Enjoy your walk, Jim. I've got a trip to the barbers planned. Which will be fun. I suppose.

Nobody warns you that parenting involves this.
Have a much better day than me everyone.

Sorry that isn't your idea of a good day Darren!

I managed to avoid them, probably because my daughters weren't particularly enamoured with them either :-)

Well the walk was good :-)
And ended with coffee and cake!

Despite the fact that neither of us are Thai. Or can cook. Or know how to run a restaurant. And that the last (only?) Thai restaurant in Godalming has just closed down.
But apart from that ...
Have a good day, y'all. Beware of acquaintances in the service sector making unusual employment propositions.

It does strike me as a somewhat strange business proposition but still, what consenting adults get up to behind closed doors is surely no business of mine.
But I confess to being somewhat bemused about the choice of Thai cuisine, or was it the fact that the demise of the other business had left a gap in the market?

Walk, coffee and cake sounds good to me Jim! I love Thai food, you could come here and open one!

It struck me as an unusual suggestion to make while holding a pair of scissors.

Morning each. Cloudy but warm. Off later for a pub lunch.

Sounds interesting Lynne.

Have to face new doctor and get prescription for pain meds - you'd think it was going to turn into Breaking Bad the way they fuss. He started by cutting my daily dosage in half without even talking to me. I'm taking husband - done with nonsense. H has to live with me in pain, and for some reason men talking to men (and ignoring the little woman) do better. Eejit.

having said that, the last thing you need is a misogynistic doctor. Perhaps you should be looking for another.
Yeah Jud, the new card should have been waiting for us in the piles of post when we arrived. Pissed off it wasn't. It better come today.

I just hate having to use my limited energy to go in the first place, and I don't usually take spouse, but this isn't the relationship I need with a doctor who already admitted he knows nothing about ME/CFS.
And, when asked, admitted he couldn't refer me to a specialist - because this medical system doesn't have one.
His only option is to do exactly as I tell him - we'll see if that flies.

Good luck with the Dr, Alicia. I hope he listens to you.
I'm rereading The Secret Garden, I haven't read it in about 20 years if not more. It's so lovely to go back and read it again, although it makes me wonder at my young self that I didn't get bored of the formal writing and understood the Yorkshire accents!

I remember that vaguely from my childhood. I do feel nervous though about re reading childhood favourites, in case I ruin memories.

Sorry that the doc has halved your meds without a discussion, I know some people over here have had the anti-inflams I take reduced. Good luck getting it resolved, shame they don’t have a specialist you could see. I read Secret Garden the other year as part of my classics challenge Jud, not sure how much I enjoyed it though. Not seen GL for a bit, anyone heard from her?

Up way too early; needed something to eat. I can't seem to stay asleep or get to sleep if I'm hungry.
Otherwise in fine shape. Have negotiated for (not particularly well) and acquired the adult trike! It's mine, and I now have it in a place where I can get it out easily and fairly quickly. Looking forward to some leisurely rides at my convenience. Lady I bought it from got it as a 90th birthday present, and is now 91, and thinks she isn't going to be using it much (falls are a big problem in that age group, and the recovery can be very long).
She looks in better shape than I do.
People here seem to last longer than average - reduction of stress is good for humans.

Younger Daughter's graduation this week. Perhaps I'll pick up a bug at this one too?
Know what you mean GL. By the time I've looked the threads over for any inappropriate postings and checked for new dodgy Canadian pharmacist members I have lost the inclination to post anything myself!

We don't thank the moderators enough. Many, many thanks.

The last day of sunny weather before the showers descend (here, anyway) so making the most of it - as far as I can when I work in an office.

I lost my voice last night and have woken up this morning with a heavy chest. Yeuch. Just in time for holidays.
Good to 'see' you GL :o)

Do hope that is enough Alicia – I know what you mean about just taking enough to function, I’m the same with my anti-inflams, although trying to keep those at a minimum recently has resulted in more strong painkillers, not sure which is worse to be honest! I’m the same with sleep – hunger and temperature really affect my ability to sleep. Glad you have the adult trike now, hope you get lots of enjoyment out of it. Glad you are still around GL. Sorry to hear about your neighbour R, hope you don’t get any more bugs at daughters graduation. Sorry you aren’t needed today Lynne, hope son-in-laws eye is nothing serious. Hope you feel better soon Jud.

It's taken over ten months here to get used to it again; New Jersey's weather went all over the place in the course of each year, and you really couldn't tell what it was going to be until you went outside.
Funny what is 'normal.'
Does it go back to childhood for any of you?

Highlight of my boring day today was we bathed the dog outside of course, he’s too big for the shower cubicle and no way could in I lift him into the bath. He looks super shiny now.

My whole family of origin is in Mexico City, so I worry. Bizarre is right. Guadalajara in a hailstorm of that magnitude was bizarre.

Another work day looms so have a good one everyone.

I'm going on holiday (to Aberdeen) on Friday and because it's a local holiday we get to finish early tomorrow too. Woohoo!

Apparently it does because I heard myself announce a couple of weeks ago that I always remember June as being a bit iffy, often cool and overcast for at least half the month. Whether or not that's a true remembrance, I haven't a clue.
Enjoy your holiday, Jud.

It's a book that divides opinions.
The first 10% is certainly a struggle for many people as we have to wade through the court case that doesn't seem all that related to the rest of the story.
Things pick up after that when we meet Lisbeth and the main story kicks in.
After that ... the world seems to divide into "loved it" and "hated it". I know some people who thought it was brilliant, but I'm afraid it left me cold. I found it exploitative, full of author wish-fulfillment and sloppily written. But maybe that's just me.
All in all, I wouldn't judge it on the first 10% because even some of the book's biggest fans say that the start isn't the best bit. I'd give it a bit longer to help you decide if you're a fan or not.

Enjoy your holiday Jud. I would persevere with the book, I think it was a slow burner, but I did enjoy the trilogy. Refusing to read the rest as they aren’t all his books.

Littke lad not coughing and temperature down so fingers crossed he’s responding well to the antibiotics. If that was what was needed it only took , 1 emergency appointment, 2 admissions to hospital and two ambulances with paramedics on board.
The article I read about the rise in sepsis this morning doesn’t come as any great surprise.
