Yes I did, Stacey, and I liked it, but not as well as some of the others. Still it had all that craziness that makes them so funny :)

Rosina | 1 comments jingles hope the day gets better, don't worry about the spreadsheet....

By the way the book Im reading is right up your alley....

message 268: by Stacey (new)

Stacey Kennedy Didn't the rules say multiple people can read the same book??

message 269: by jingles (new)

jingles | 639 comments Oh my, Rosina, that one does look very good, and I do love me some historical fiction!

I think I'm the only one missing pupil, so I will probably do that as my bonus, unless you guys think I should do another one.

I've got the spreadsheet updated now, and will look a little closer at it in a bit, but just glancing through, I think that is the only one you guys have claimed that I'm still missing.

Rosina, I'm off to see if I can get my hands on that book! Thanks for the heads up :)

message 270: by Rosina (new)

Rosina | 1 comments It only has pupil as student not the eye version. Think we need eye.

message 271: by jingles (new)

jingles | 639 comments Yep, we need the eye kind. I just checked availability at the library and I can't get it anyway :(

I did put a hold on it though.

Jennifer H Week 9~Wind & Prince

Out of Control (Troubleshooters, #4) by Suzanne Brockmann by Suzanne Brockmann
Finished: 9/8/14
Rating: ♥♥♥♥

Wind: make like dust in the wind (p. 423)
Crystal: checked your crystal ball (p. 26)
Candy: put a candy wrapper (p. 428)
Forehead: to rest his forehead (p. 106)
Prince: to meet Prince Charming (p. 26)
Eyelash: got an eyelash or something (p. 203)

I have only discovered Suzanne Braockmann's books recently but have become an avid fan. I love a good story and she always delivers multi-layered well developed plots that can't be put down. I love the fast paced relationships, interwoven story-lines and historical romances which thread in seamlessly. As the wife of a soldier, I understand the drive of the SEAL characters and the women who love them. I can't wait for the next book it's great to see the characters from previous stories reappear.

message 273: by Jennifer H (new)

Jennifer H I chose eyelash as my super bonus item.

message 274: by Stacey (new)

Stacey Kennedy I finished as well and will post tomorrow.

Flirting with Texas (Deep in the Heart of Texas) by Katie Lane

Read from: 09/06/14 - 09/09/14
Rating: ★★★

Brief Review
I've enjoyed reading this series, and while I liked this book, I didn't love it. With this one, I found it hard to like the hero. Though he is the extremely good-looking type who women just seem to, one gets the impression he's not that intelligent. It's like we're told he's very smart, but his actions in the book show otherwise. Jenna - the leading lady, was okay, but again, she comes across in action much different than what we are told about her. This story overall just did not flow smoothly.

3 Stars

1. Wind - Called: (location 1959)
She cranked down the window, and the wind blew in...

2. Prince - Bonus: (location 4025)
If that was Hope Scroggs, then he was Prince Charles.

3. Crystal: (location 4046)
...that made her eyes look twice as big and was highlighted the color of Jack Daniels in a fancy crystal glass.

4. Candy: (location 486)
...she shrugged and pulled a Dum-dum sucker out and unwrapped it.

5. Eyelash: (location 3761)
...she barely blinked and eyelash .

6. Pupil - Bonus: (location 4078)
...until her skin was wet and her pupils dilated.

Stacey Kennedy Week 9 Wind/Prince
I read Third Grave Dead Ahead (Charley Davidson, #3) by Darynda Jones
finished 9-8-14
Rating 4 stars

Brief Review:
In this third installment of the Charley Davidson series Charley has had it with the men in her life. Her dad, her rock, put her at great risk and used her for bait in the last book and the guilt has created a wedge in their relationship. Also, when Reyes Farrow (aka son of satan) tries to rid himself of his mortal body to become stronger, although incorporeal, Charley 'binds' his sould to his physical body. Boy is he pissed. Uncle Bob is the only man that is steadfast in her life
In this book Charley and her assistant Cookie are looking for a missing wife of a local surgeon who is just oozing waves of guilt. Reyes Farrow has also escaped from prison, kidnaps Charley, and tells her a secret that can get his murder charges dropped- but he needs Charely's investigative help. All the while Uncle Bob has placed a tail on Charley, to protect her, who she ditches on a regular basis. A nun who is a prophesy enters in who hears angels (doesn't talk back to them though) and tells Charley she will have a guardian soon after sho indirectly causes a death. So she is worried by that most of the story.
I still enjoy this series- I really like Charley, even with her corny one liners and tons of sarcasm. She seemed to make fewer dumb mistakes this time but still has some growing up to do. I love her interaction with Cookie, UB, and her tail, Garret Swopes.
I was shocked by a turn of events near the end and almost put the series down forever but, luckily, didn't have to!

Wind: The wind bit through my jacket (p. 130)
Crystal: like a thin layer of crystal (p. 173)
Candy: like taking candy from a baby(p. 107)
Forehead: and kissing her forehead (p. 89)
Prince: the prince of the underworld (p. 46)
Eyelash-brown eyes with thick eyelashes (p 48)

Rosina | 1 comments Week 9 Wind/Prince
Somewhere in France by Jennifer Robson
finished Sept 8/14
♥♥♥♥

Review:
I enjoyed this story immensely. It is the start if WW1 The Great War. Lady Elizabeth Ashford, Lilly to her friends comes from a wealthy family. Her parents do not agree with her wanting to join the war effort. Her brother Edward is going off to war as is his best friend, Robbie Fraser. Robbie grew up in the slums of Edinburgh and went to Oxford University on scholarship to study medicine. The parents do not approve of Robbie as a beau for Lilly. Edward is a soldier in France, Robbie is a surgeon in France and then Lilly makes her way to france with WAAC. The story is a fast read. There is a sequel being published 2015. Nice romance with not a lot of war detail but enough to keep me wanting to learn more.

Wind ch.16 the wind died to a breeze
prince ch.37 did you dance with the prince of wales
crystal ch.1 the seed pearls and crystals of the embroidery
candy ch.18 the chocolates are all gone I am afraid I ate them all
forehead ch.28 do you want a cool cloth for your forehead
eyelash ch.11 with a flutter of eyelashes

Stacey, I think if you put in your info for 'eyelash', that will give us another half point, and bring our total to 44 points.

Jennifer H The only items we have left to claim are air, magic, sapphire, onyx and soldier. So, along with ear and mystery, I'm going to claim magic, onyx and soldier.

I'll be reading Sex and the Single Vampire (Dark Ones, #2) by Katie MacAlister

message 287: by Jennifer H (new)

Jennifer H Next week it's going to be a reading race to see who is going to win.

message 288: by Stacey (new)

Stacey Kennedy Not sure how this works- do we claim the ones you didn't? Or try to get as many as are left?
Sorry, I'm confused

message 289: by Jennifer H (new)

Jennifer H I'm sorry I got ahead of things. It still works the same as other weeks, you claim an item from each category. This weeks words are ear and mystery (bonus). So, if you could claim magic, onyx and soldier along with ear and mystery that would be great.

Rosina | 1 comments jingles I remember something about the 40 points but for the life of me I cant find it now....

For this week I am reading Tangled (Tangled, #1) by Emma Chase

jingles | 639 comments Oooh, I liked that one, Rosina. It was hilarious!

message 294: by Jennifer H (new)

Jennifer H ◈ Winning will be determined by the fist team to 50 points. You do not necessarily have to have all 40 items to get to 50 points as there are 12 bonus points available through the course of the game.

Yes. This is where I obviously got sidetracked:

If a team reads their books right it is possible to get all 40 items in 10 weeks and complete the challenge.

Rosina | 1 comments That's it. Thanks Jennifer

message 297: by jingles (new)

jingles | 639 comments This is why I am not good captain material. I'm too goofy!

Anyway...

I'm going to read In the Dark.
In the Dark (SEAL Team 12, #2) by Marliss Melton

Rosina | 1 comments Jingles that looks good. Good to know about tangled. Really looking forward to the read

Stacey Kennedy I'm having a very hard time finding all these words together. I finally found onyx and then it didn't have soldier. Any word I can substitute?

message 300: by Stacey (new)

Stacey Kennedy I will be reading City of Bones (The Mortal Instruments, #1) by Cassandra Clare

I can't believe I just spent hours of my life looking for words....
