Yes, me too! But why does she always describe him as hating her? He obviously does NOT!

Review- Kate Daniels is a magic filled mercenary linked by blood to the most powerful creature on the planet- and her whole existence is training to kill him. For now, she is part of the Order, working to keep the laws and peace between the humans, shapeshifters, and vampires in the 'post shift' era in Atlanta. She is magic infused and a killing machine with her trusty saber she calls Slayer. She keeps minimal friends because she knows she is a risk to them and they will be used against her at some point. Against her own better judgement she does find herself at this point in the series with a small group of creatures she cares about- and will risk her life for.
This book finds Kate entangled in an off-limits fight for the death 'gaming' arena, where one of her were-friends, Derek, has become involved with a contestant and nearly loses his life in a brutal way. Kate finds herself mixed up with The Pack again and her love interest/mortal enemy Curran (yes they are both and it's great!). She must keep secrets from Curran to protect him which may get a whole group of them in seriously hot water. The plot thickens when the all powerful Roland's people are found to be involved in the Games, wanting the ultimate prize- The Wolf Diamond- which may be a weapon to weaken the pack and help Roland increase his power. Kate knows her magic will be recognized by Roland's people and must decide whether she risks it all to save her friends.
I loved this one! This series keeps getting better for me. Really fun, action-packed, and funny. I love Kate and Curran in this book. And excited to see the fun will continue...

Brief Review
Wow! Another great, crazy story from Katie Lane! I loved it!! Elizabeth is the beloved spinster librarian of small town Bramble, Texas. In Bramble, everyone likes to get involved in your business, and when they think it's time for someone to marry, the town folks will stop at nothing in their match making schemes. Elizabeth, who has just inherited the famous Miss Hatties old time brothel, is really trying to keep a low profile until said brothel has been sold and is off her hands. She can't have the fine folks of Bramble knowing she owns a brothel!
Brant Cates has come to Bramble to break the Cates Curse, which he knows is somehow connected to Miss Hatties. His great grandfather was killed there some 100 years back, but bad things keep happening to the Cates family, and he means to stop it.
What I liked: I loved the two main characters. The humorous bantering back and forth is just great!
What I didn't like: The story tends to drag a bit towards the middle, but soon picks up again.
Overall it was a 4 star read for me.
1. Called - Element: (location 1269)
So she felt completely out of her element sitting in the cavernous dining room at the linen-covered table Beau and Brant had moved in form the kitchen.
2. Bonus - Leaf: (location 95)
Brant kept his gaze locked on the bony hand that shook more than a leaf in a hailstorm.
3. Stone: (location 1054)
The weeds had been cleared from around the base of the mauve-colored stone , but an overgrown lilac bush covered most of the front.
4. Beer: (location 1283)
Minnie took her time chewing before she washed it down with the same brand of beer that Brant was drinking.
5. Tongue: (location 755)
But relief that Mr. Cates wasn't going to press charges had her holding her tongue .

Finally got it done and posted though, so we are good to go!
Next week won't be crazy like this one because I won't be traveling and out of town :)
I'm excited for tomorrow's new words!

Good thing is though, it's not one of the tough words :)
Words for Week #5

2. Smoke (Bonus)
3. Water
4. Heart
5. Pupil

That book does look fun, Jennifer.
Stacey, your book looks good too.
I've not found mine yet...still looking.

I read

Rating: 3 stars
1. Stone (Called)- The rough, icy stone of the wall- p 44
2. Smoke (Bonus)- I went out on the balcony to smoke- p 65
3. Water- Measuring out coffee and water- p 20
4. Heart- ..and let her heart rate slow down- p 56
5. Pupil -to notice Elisa's pupils- p23
Review- 17 year old Lumikki Andersson is a loner- strange family secrets and years of bullying has made her so. She trusts no one but herself. Now living alone and going to a Finnish boarding school she stumbles upon trouble and gets in the middle. She gets caought finding freshly washed Euros hanging in the darkroom at school by the students who washed them and is pulled into their bizarre escapade that involves a narcotic double agent (who is the father of Elisa, one of the students involved), a dangerous drug ring, and murder. Lumikki helps the kids discover how Elisa's dad is involved, almost getting herself killed.
This story was just okay for me. Lumikki's name describes a girl who should look like Snow White, which she doesn't until the end, when she transforms herself to look like the fairy tale princess to infiltrate a strange, high class drug party. There are fairy tale references throughout the whole book, which was I guess the idea behind the story- Snow White Trilogy- but it was a little weird for me.
Also, the multiple references and flashbacks to her hiding from bullies and maybe someone else? were somewhat explained but not until the very end and not completely. Her family didn't talk about things- bruises, maybe a loss of a child, etc.- so I suppose that's why she didn't know some things? I don't know. Left me hanging.
I liked her a l;ttle as I always root for the person who decides to take control of their situation and stand up for themselves etc. but I didn't connect with her enough to really like her. She keep talking about being a loner and then jumps into this mystery of stolen, bloody Euros and thugs without much thought- why?
So, it was okay but not good enough for me to read book two.
One thing to note is that this is a book translated into english, so maybe something was lost in translation;)

You Slay Me by Katie MacAlister
Finished: 8/10/14
Rating: ♥♥♥♥
Water: like cool water beneath (p. 77)
Stone: no rune stones (p. 50)
Heart: piercing her heart (p. 21)
Pupil: The pupils were slightly (p. 26)
Smoke: odor of cigarette smoke (p. 6)
A funny quirky story about Aisling Grey who goes to Paris to deliver a package and ends up in world of trouble! There was some mystery mixed in with some hot (literally) romance scenes, as well as some unforgettable characters like the demon Jim, who takes shape as a Newfoundland dog.

Jennifer I really need to read some Katie MacAlister.
Stacey that story did look promising too bad...oh well always so many more books to read.
I should have my review up tonite...

Review:
I listened to the audio book which was narrated by Will Patton and it was so enjoyable. Awesome narrator!
If Edgar Allan Poe had taught the boys of Dead Poets Society, The Raven Boys is the type of tale he might've told, one that emerges through curl of smoke and excites with a flash of fire. This story, which seems to be loosely based on a real Welsh folk tale, is haunted by ghosts, invigorated by a fantastical search for a legendary sleeping Welsh king, and tinged with the frightening dark beauty of centuries-old magic.
Maggie Stiefvater weaves a magically world around wonderfully real characters. I loved this story and I loved the characters. This may in fact be one of the very few YA series I will read in its entirety. In fact I may in fact buy the kindle version to read the book the writing is that good and the story is definitely worth reading again.
I absolutely adore Stiefvater's use of language and metaphor which makes her writing visceral and poetic without being overbearing.
Blue lives in a family full of psychics, but she did not inherit the gift. She has been told her entire life that her true love will die. She stays away from boys and so far so good until the day she sees a vision with a boy who can also see her.
This vision happens during St. Mark's Eve... Blue knows this boy will be dead in a year. She meets boy, Gansey and his friends, Adam, Ronan, and Noah. These boys are on a treasure hunt for something supernatural and Blue gets pulled in. Along the way Blue falls for a boy, kisses a boy, uncovers a murder, and discovers a world she didn't know existed.
Words for Week #5

Brief Review
What a hilarious book! Lexi Smart is out for a night one the town one minute, and wakes up in the hospital three years later! Not really, but... as the story goes, she's involved in an accident, which causes her to suffer memory loss, and so when she wakes up, she doesn't remember the last three years of her life. True to form for this author, what follows is the very funny story of Lexi discovering she's a total different person "now" than she used to be. She has a drop dead gorgeous husband, she's skinny, she's extremely wealthy, and she doesn't hang out with the same people.
What I liked: I loved everything about Lexi. She was just so funny and quirky.
What I didn't like: Adultery is part of the plot, which I wish had been avoided.
Overall it was a four star read for me.
1. Called - Stone: (page 329)
Fi is at the front, her eyes like stone .
2. Bonus - Smoke: (page 12)
...my dad sitting opposite in a Panama hat, blowing out cigar smoke , and telling me, "Eat up, sweetheart"...
3. Water: (page 19)
She hands me a tablet and a little cup of water .
4. Heart: (page 28)
Hole in the heart .
5. Eyebrow: (page 40)
Nicole raises an amused eyebrow .

I had Shannon K. Butcher's No Escape that has pupil (eye), but it didn't have the bonus - smoke.

That always good hear :)

Hi Rosina-
I had a moment and did a quick scan of your to reads and saw that both Outlander and The Da Vinci Code have all the words, properly used. That's a start at least!
