Nicole P | 3200 comments Hey Mary-Megan,

I'll post the books I manage to read this month from your picks here as I go along. I've already got one in the bag.

Mickey Mouse
TBR: The Negotiator by Avery Flynn (02/11) ★★★★ - totally loved this one. A fake fiancee storyline where a workaholic sees the trees for the forrest when the adventurous nomad makes him look beyond spreadsheets and deals.

Daisy Duck
TBR: The Surprise by Alice Ward (29/11) ★★ - I just wasn't feeling this book. It started off well with the two characters meeting by happenstance. But there after it fell flat and I was not enjoying it. It also seemed to drag on even though it was a short book. Oh well.

Hi Avid Reader and Geek Girl,
I jumped right in and already finished the first book Sugar Daddy Sugar Daddy (Sugar Bowl, #1) by Sawyer Bennett , which I really liked (★★★★) . You can read my review here.

I'm now getting started with Dirty Kiss Dirty Kiss (Cole McGinnis, #1) by Rhys Ford .

Finished my 1st pick The Final Score (Play by Play, #13) by Jaci Burton -loved it!

On to pick #2!

message 108: by Snowflakemood (new)

Snowflakemood | 37 comments Avid Reader and Geek Girl,

I finished another couple of books

Dirty Kiss (Cole McGinnis, #1) by Rhys Ford : really cool book (★★★). I will probably go through the rest of the series in the upcoming months.

Fighting Redemption by Kate McCarthy : quite an emotional read this one, which is exactly what I look for in my romance books (★★★★). It's not 5 stars because I found the writing style a bit confusing. Sometimes it was difficult to understand whether the scene/dialogue was happening in the present or was a flash-back from the past.

Thank you again for the great picks!

Ruthless People (Ruthless People, #1) by J.J. McAvoy

Unfortunately book #4 was a total fiasco (★).
The story seemed interesting, this is why the book was in my to-read list. By the end of the book, however, I was dumbstruck by the poor writing and the total lack of background research.

The story involves two families from the Italian and the Irish mafia, and the author uses the Italian language often. As an Italian native speaker, it was impossible for me to overlook the countless mistakes, which in the end totally spoiled my reading experience.
For those interested in further details, here is an excellent review.

This was one I haven't read and I'll take your word for it, as I took exactly 1 semester of Italian in high school

Sonja (sonjac) | 1364 comments RomanticBookWorm,
Made it through one so far at last!
It was touch and go there for a while and I almost DNF, but I muscled through The Bachelor Auction (The Bachelors of Arizona, #1) by Rachel Van Dyken . It started out cute, but then kind of got hoakie.

Anyway, I started Just One of the Guys by Kristan Higgins over the weekend and am enjoying it so far! I'm also annoyed that life keeps preventing me from reading! LOL!

GAAH RomanticBookWorm!!!!
2 for me now! I finished Just One of the Guys by Kristan Higgins in just under 30 hours! It was SO good! Thank you for the recommendation! I totally would not have read it if you hadn't suggested it!

I'm on to Not Quite a Husband by Sherry Thomas now, but my Kindle is telling me I've already read it??? Well if I did, it's been a while so I'll read it (again really?) again! :)

UPDATE: Turns out I have read it before, but it was over a year and a half ago so I think I'll read it again!

Mary-Megan | 2325 comments Jojo

I wasn't as successful this month as I'd hoped to be. I ended up reading about 3.5 books.

I really enjoyed The Princess. I read that on vacation and it was great!

Lone Wolf unfortunately was a bit disappointing. Although not as disappointing as The Uninvited which I didn't even bother finishing. I used to really enjoy her books but lately they aren't doing it for me.

Right now I'm in the process of reading Sea of Love and that's going really well, so at least I'll end on a high note.

I wish I got more read because I know there were some good ones on the list. Time, however, just got away from me. I hope you had a great month reading. Happy Holidays!
