Yeah - I wish I'd known first, though. I'd have appreciated it more, I think. I don't know why it makes any difference, and I suppose it might be even sadder.

Chrissie I have completed Edith Wharton's novel The Reef. I chose it because it is set in France.

I usually like the way she writes; probably my favourite is Ethan Frome, the classic The House of Mirth and a little non fiction book she wrote The Decoration of Houses, if for no other reason that she mentions Perugia in it!!!!!

Laura, it's a nice story.
This is a continuation, of sorts, of Scarlet Feather and Quentins. Many of the characters in Minding Frankie are also in these other 2 books.
That said, I was about half way through this book before I started to remember that, so this is a stand-alone story.
It's been many years since I've read the other two but slowly their stories vaguely returned to me as I read this book. It makes for a good background. If you enjoy Maeve Binchy's writing I would recommend reading all three and starting with the other two.

Robin A I finished 11/22/63. I'm not a fan of Stephen King or books over 400 pages. But recommend this book. If ever wanted to read his books, but don't like horror this is the book for you. Time travel and romance

message 2878: by Chrissie (new)

Chrissie I have completed East West Street: On the Origins of "Genocide" and "Crimes Against Humanity". It is a book definitely worth reading. IF you enjoy listening to books of non-fiction, than I recommend the audio version too.

I agree, Robin! I'm not a fan of horror, either, and I loved this one.

PattyMacDotComma I just enjoyed Kit de Waal's latest book, The Trick to Time. She's got a good handle on how people work and what keeps them from breaking.

One of my favourite King - and he's not one of my favourite author as well - even if I have to say that I usually LOVE long long books!

PattyMacDotComma Aussie author Caroline Overington is an award-winning investigative journalist, so I knew I'd enjoy her story of a celebrity's missing toddler. The Ones You Trust reveals the ins and outs of publicity vs police.
