I agree about both of the Three Men books. I do have to say, though, that the funniest overall chapter for me was in Bummel, even though Iiked the Boat one more consistently.

PattyMacDotComma Ever wanted to drop out, disappear, become somebody else? The Last Flight by Julie Clark brings to mind the old saying "out of the frying pan, into the fire"!

Kathleen | 401 comments After reading Little Women last month (for pandemic comfort), I followed up with the rest of the series. Jo's Boys was my favorite as a child, and I was surprised to find I still loved it! Jo's Boys by Louisa May Alcott

PattyMacDotComma I've had a couple of political reads recently. Colombiano is about the terrifying situation of kidnappings, guerrillas, and drug wars in Colombia.

Aussie-born author Rusty Young spent a lot of time there and wrote this compelling, fictionalised, first-hand account of a child soldier.
Colombiano by Rusty Young 4.5★ Link to my "Colombiano" review

PattyMacDotComma On an entirely different political note, I just enjoyed this children's biography Work It, Girl: Michelle Obama by Caroline Moss. Written to inspire girls to become leaders, it has lots of details and includes more resources at the end.

Tamara Agha-Jaffar | 1410 comments I finally read The Heart Is a Lonely Hunter by Carson McCullers. I've read a few of her other books but never this one. It was absolutely amazing. I can't get over the fact that she was only 23 years old when she wrote it.

Tamara Agha-Jaffar | 1410 comments I read The Red Sofa by Michel Lesbre, translated from the French by Nicole Ball and David Ball. It's a quiet, unassuming novel about a woman's internal meanderings while on the Trans-Siberian Railway and the lasting impact of her friendship with her elderly neighbor.
I thought it was very good.
