Even if I didn't like Circe that much, I'm now reading the other Grecian novel by Madeline Miller: The Song of Achilles. I still don't like it...

Also, moved on to the next in Sara Rosett's series,

Rereading Agatha Christie's

I also found The Song of Achilles just ok. I don't mind some updating of sensibility, but for me it lost the entire feeling of existing in another remote period. It felt like people walking around nowadays who happened to be carrying swords and spears instead of guns.
Not bad at all for me, but it wasn't something I loved. I think I gave it 3 stars.

Exactly so! I think she sort of painted Achilles and Patroclo love story as if it was a romantic happening. It was totally different, a complete opposite attitude, toward sex, love and human relationship.
Updating can be ok, but overturn things can be e bit too much

There were a few too many fights and dead bodies for me Christine. What are you reading now?

I bought this on the train on Thursday, before my journey down to Dublin.
Beautiful World, Where Are You by Sally Rooney It's not a bad book, it certainly held my interest for most of the journey.

Getting close to done with the another group's read Native Country of the Heart: A Memoir by Cherríe L. Moraga. I wasn't sure what to expect based on some of Moraga's poetry that I read a long time ago, but I like it quite a lot! Pretty sure it's heading for 5★.
Also plugging along with The Four Winds by Kristin Hannah. It's not one I would probably have picked up on my own, but since it was the group's choice, I picked it up. I do like it so far - the story is great. I plan to pick up the pace on my reading next week during vacation. :)
Also reading two shorter books:
Re-reading The Country Between Us by Carolyn Forché. I'd originally read it a couple decades ago. Between her first and second books of poetry, she helped track down people disappeared during the military regime in El Salvador, and her experiences there completely changed her work. It's powerful stuff, though not easy to take.
And finally, reading The Chimes by Charles Dickens for the Christmas season.

I really like it, Christine. What are you reading?

I'm at the momenti in the middle of The Jewel in the Crown
; a really interesting - and complicated novel on partition.
Has anyone of you ever read it? I'd like to know especially if Dhanaraj had heard of it; I'd like to have an "inner opinion"!

Now I'm starting Scales of Justice by Ngaio Marsh and Murder Goes Mumming by Craig, which is set in Canada, for a little variety. lol
