I'm at the moment reading - actually listening in Storytel - The Mountains Sing.
Really extreamly interesting

I didn't even make it to page 50 of my attempted re-read Little Women. It high acclaim has always been a mystery to me. It's a dull and cluttered book. It bored me 40 years ago, and it bores me in 2021. How I managed to finish reading it as an eleven-year-old, I have no idea.
I just started reading
Shredding the Evidence by Daryl Wood Gerber. It's the 9th installment of the Cookbook Nook Mystery series.

One of my favourite book ever. I' think I've re-read it at least 10 times!!!
In Italian we say "Il mondo è bello perchè è vario"! (More or less, the world is beautiful because it's various!)

No need of understanding!!! Some books considered masterpieces of world literature - among them Memoirs of Hadrian or The Master and Margarita - I really didn't like!!!
They are really good books, I understand it, but not...my piece of cake!

I am reading Pompeii by Robert Harris. Pompeii. Am really enjoying it- such wonderful detail about Roman life and an interesting story.
Jayber Crow by Wendell Berry. This is my first Berry novel. I've read his essays and poems and really liked them. I've not read his novels, I realized recently, because I didn't want to be disappointed by them. I don't think I will be, though. So far it's wonderful.

She had quite a collection from her childhood - stories considered suitable for children in the first 2 decades of the 20th century.
I am not sure she had even read them all but I was a voracious bookworm and hoovered them all up.
I found the Little Women too 'holier than thou' for my taste. I quite liked Beth and Amy but Jo really irritated me.
I am considering a reread of the first book but going by my reaction to the film adaptations I don't think my opinion will have changed.
Consigned to Death by Jane K. Cleland. This is the first book (2006) in the Josie Prescott Antiques Mystery series. I have a lot of catching up to do!
Listening to Mythos: The Greek Myths Retold by Stephen Fry. Happily it's narrated by Fry, whose voice is wonderful. It's a fun twist on the way myths are usually presented. I had to laugh as the original Chaos was compared to a teenager's bedroom. :)
Aong other things I'm working my way through some Shakespeare. I just finished Much Ado About Nothing and am starting Macbeth.I'm also in the middle of my first book by David Baldacci , The Innocent. It's quite good so far.
I am reading
and I am also reading
Both of these books are really good. I highly recommend these two books.
Someone to Love by Mary Balogh is Book #1 in the Westscott Series - I love this book.
Crown Of Midnight by Sarah J. Maas is Book #2 in the Throne Of Glass Series. I love this book. It is so good.

Currently reading Threadneedle by Cari Thomas. I will admit that I did 70% purchase purely because of the cover artwork but the story is quite interesting for my lunchtime reading..
Getting ready to read Troy: The Greek Myths Reimagined by Stephen Fry. Then I'm going to try a newer version of The Iliad, translated by Lombardo. I'm hoping this will be more accessible to me than Fagles version. (I like his Odyssey, but Iliad is always such a chore for me to read!)Also reading The A.B.C. Murders by Agatha Christie.
I'm nearly finished with
, book 5 in The Lila Maclean Academic Mystery series. The author is Cynthia Kuhn.
I just started
Magical Midlife Love by K.F. Breene. This book is the 4th in Breene's Leveling Up paranormal series.
I'm reading Howards End by E.M. Forster. I thought I'd read this years ago, but apparently not. I plan on watching the movie and mini-series when I finish.I just finished Enchanted Ever After by Shanna Swendson. It's the last in the series, which was quite fun. I'm sorry the series is over but she did a good job tying up the loose ends and leaving me happy. :)
I've started these last few days several books I want to pass this week with: Half of a Yellow Sun, Crimson Lake, Nel paese delle donne and Il pianista di Yarmouk
