Thanks, Diane. I am eager to get started.
But we find our own book? We're not trading actual book?
I'm willing to send out books written by Indonesian local writer, already translated to English, to anyone wants to send be a good read from their home country. Any challenge with that mechanism?
This sounds fun !! Please send me tickets to mmm... 8 countries. Is there any way I can specify countries to be excluded which I have already read. Or alternatively you select 20 countries for me out of which I will select first 8 countries which I havent visited yet.

This is awesome! I'm excited to 'visit' some new countries this year. And one was set in a book I reviewed yesterday, so I'm already on my way. ;). Lovely members, I'll be searching your posts for suggestions. Happy reading everyone!

I was going to say 'check out Four Corners for PNG' but just realized you recommended it to me! ;) I also read The Lost Tribe set there but didn't enjoy the author's attitude so can't recommend it.

Arpit, unfortunately, I can't change the rules that way. There is a really good chance that you will get books from countries you haven't read since there are so many countries and most people only tend to read just a few. You can always trade, too. Here is your list:
Somalia
Myanmar
Dominica
Senegal
Philippines
Ukraine
Latvia
Uruguay

You were right. I havent read books from these countries. Thanks for the list Diane. I hope to know a lot about these countries by year end.
Now I'll really appreciate if you guys suggest me good books set in these countries.

Sorry to hear you didn't enjoy your other PNG read.
Also, I just realized how fortuitous it was that you received Bulgaria, since you just happen to be in the middle of a Bulgarian mystery series!
From books on your list, I read three books from Ecuador last year. My favorite was The Beak of the Finch: A Story of Evolution in Our Time, but it is a tale of scientific research, and may not appeal to everyone (it interested me particularly since I read it before visiting the Galapagos). Cumanda: The Novel of the Ecuadorian Jungle was a decent folk tale, as if it had been written from oral tradition. My least favorite was The Villagers, which was depressing in its portrayal of injustice by multiple parties during the construction of an Andean road.

I'll check out your first two suggestions, but am intrigued already by Cumanda: The Novel of the Ecuadorian Jungle. Take care, Mome_Rath.
I did not manage to finish the 80 countries last year (after 2 successful years), and am not even trying this year. But would like to do 10 countries please! That is something I can manage!

It's on mine too. There seems to be only one or two books, so I will be glad to read one and never need to revisit this place again. I would have probably traded it if I had already read a book from there.
