2017 October Pick-It-For-Me-Challenge!

🙈Lord Voldemort - Cast the dark mark and recommend a book that has a tattoo on the cover, features an immortal/old character, OR features a leader of a group (ex business owner, leader of a military team, alpha of a pack…)
TBR: Hard as It Gets by Laura Kaye
New: A Promise of Fire by Amanda Bouchet (I'm recommending this one to pretty much everyone who gets stuck with me picking for them. LOVE IT! So much fun and uggghh <333)

🙉Count Dracula - Sip a little blood and recommend a book that is set in Europe, is a standalone, OR a book you hope might become a romance classic/staple in the future
TBR: Written in Red by Anne Bishop
New: The Perfect Rake by Anne Gracie (Surprisingly funny, I really enjoyed this story)

🙊Sauron - Recover the one ring and recommend a book with a nature setting or cover scene, from a completed series, OR features a battle
TBR: Nice Girls Don't Have Fangs by Molly Harper
New: Kindling the Moon by Jenn Bennett (Start of one of my favorite UF series!)

🙈Captain Hook - Outsmart Peter Pan and recommend a book with a historical setting, that features an animal, OR features children
TBR: Feral Sins by Suzanne Wright
New: Romancing the Duke by Tessa Dare (You don't have a ton of historical romance on your shelf but this is one of my favorites)

🙉The White Witch - Maintain the Long Winter and recommend a book set in a magical world, that has something white on the cover, OR with a holiday theme
TBR: Straddling the Line by Jaci Burton
New: Heaven Can't Wait by Pamela Clare (You've read many in this series but not this one. It's really short but really, really good)

🙊Moriarty - Always stay one step ahead and recommend a book featuring a teacher or a criminal, a short book, OR that has a plot line you consider clever
TBR: Unholy Ghosts by Stacia Kane
New: No Ifs, Ands, or Bears About It by Celia Kyle (Quick, yummy read similar to Eve Langlais or Dana Marie Bell)

🙈Big Brother - Keep watch and recommend a book with a futuristic setting, with a number in the title, OR containing dystopian elements
TBR: The Infinite Sea by Rick Yancey
New: Nice Dragons Finish Last by Rachel Aaron (Incredibly unique UF series set in an equally unique world!)

New: Blade Song by J.C. Daniels (Fun fast paced urban fantasy)

Thanks for my picks Shelby :)

Thanks for the great picks! I just hope I have enough time to get them all read because they all look great! Thanks!!

How fun I get to pick for you again! Well I hope you like some of these, I started having to dig deep to find good ones you didn’t already know 😉 Happy reading!
~ Kristin
🙈Lord Voldemort
New - Throttle Me by Chelle Bliss - features tattooed bad boy
TBR - Wicked Nights by Gena Showalter - features a immortal angel

🙉Count Dracula
New - You Don't Have to Say You Love Me by Sarra Manning - good chick-lit story based in Europe (London) that is a standalone.
TBR - The Last Werewolf by Glen Duncan - this was one of the first books to come to mind when thinking of ‘count dracula’ 😉 It surprised me by how much I liked it despite how gruesome it was, and even better than the first (at least to me) is actually the sequel in this series, Talulla Rising

🙊Sauron
New - On Second Thought by Kristan Higgins - this one is more serious than her other books but still humorous and good. The cover has flowers on it, that counts as nature, right?
TBR - After the Night by Linda Howard - cover has a nature scene and she’s one of my favorite authors so I had to get her in here somehow ;)

🙈Captain Hook
New - Victoria by Daisy Goodwin - a historical story of Queen Victoria who was practically a child when she became queen. She’s very naive throughout this story but I still enjoyed it.
TBR - A Desperate Fortune by Susanna Kearsley - a book with dual storylines, one from the 1700s and another modern day that’s beautifully interwoven.

🙉The White Witch
New - Unwrapping Her Perfect Match by Kat Latham - a sports novella around Christmas-time and the best part is I found it for free at the iBooks/kindle store.
TBR - Honor's Splendour by Julie Garwood - this has a white cover and the beginning is in snow where the heroine thinks the hero will freeze. Another favorite author (only her historicals though) and I see you’ve only read her westerners so here’s the nudge to pick up another one of hers.

🙊Moriarty
New - Tough Love by Warren Skye - a short novella that I found free on Amazon and couldn’t get enough of. It’s a prequel to another story (and I actually liked it better than the first book) about a mafia leaders daughter getting a forbidden relationship with one of her fathers guards
TBR - Perfect by Judith McNaught - one of my favorite books and authors which features both teacher and criminal characters

🙈Big Brother
New - The Kin of Ata Are Waiting for You by Dorothy Bryant - one of the first dystopia books I ever read which gave me a liking for the genre
New - One Week Girlfriend by Monica Murphy - has a number in the title. A quick and entertaining chick-lit story

🙉President Snow
TBR - A Clash of Kings by George R. R. Martin - I don’t think anything can be more “popular” than Game of Thrones. Looks like you read the first one (and probably watched the show). This series definitely has strong female characters.
TBR - The Tenth Circle by Jodi Picoult - while not one of her most popular stories, she still is a really popular author. This was the first one I’d ever picked up from her and I’ve loved almost every one of hers since. I never want to put down her books and this one reminds me of snow bc so much of it takes place during the winter.

Kristin,
I LOVE that you recommended

One of my favorite series! Surprising that the gore didn't bother me at all. It was such a fascinating take on the whole vampire/werewolf genre. Totally realistic and I'll be honest, I have such a soft spot for Jake...
Have you read the last one yet,

Hey Sonja,
I totally have a soft spot for Jake too and loved the series! The gore in this worked really well for me -- glad to find another person who enjoyed it! I haven't picked up the last one yet but it's definitely on my TBR list...I'd like to go back and re-read the first two again so they're fresh in my mind then read the last one :)

I definitely recommend that , Kristin! I did right before i read Blood and it was definitely a good thing. Totally agree with you on the gore. I am usually not a fan of that type of genre, but i found i could completely handle this one. Maybe its Duncan's writing... anyway hope you enjoy it as much as i did!

I haven't read much MF romance since I've joined goodreads. I haven't backtracked and entered books I read before joining. So unfortunately, I've already read
Laid Bare
The Madness of Lord Ian Mackenzie
but, I must say, you are a good picker. I did really like both of those books.
I'm pretty sure I read Beyond the Highland Mist as well.
I'm going to read 2 or 3 more of your picks. However, I think I''m done with the MF for a while. The female MCs in these two stories were awful.
Thanks for the picks!

I just finished the first pick I chose, and it was REALLY good. It has been sitting on my shelf for a while and was so good I wish I would have read it sooner! I love mystery and romance combined and this was good at that. Thanks!
Affair

It is not a book I ever would have come across or picked up but it was a beautiful story.

On to #3...another quick one! Lol!

I finished Sweet as Sin and Moon Called. I enjoyed your rec much more than the one from my TBR list ;) but I’m glad to have finally picked it up, although I probably won’t continue with the Sweet as Sin series.
I really enjoyed Moon Called and now can’t wait to pick up the next book! Thanks for introducing me to a competely new series and author. This one reminded me how much I enjoy paranormal/urban fantasy and how much I need to read more of those!

🙈Lord Voldemort -
TBR: Possession – Tattoos and leader – and sounds rather hot!
TBR: Rules of Contact – tattoos *schwing!* I started this series just this month and am totally enthralled!
NEW: Wicked White – Lead singer I have this one on my TBR list as well as owned. Rock guys… RRRAWWRRR!
🙉Count Dracula -
TBR: Sex Love Repeat - Standalone
TBR: Royally Matched – Set in Europe
NEW/TBR: Firelight – Set in London and friggin’ awesome!
🙊Sauron -
TBR: The Man Within – Nature setting and a ‘battle’
TBR: Getting Out of Hand – Nature on cover and now in my TBR…. *sigh*
NEW/TBR: Surviving Raine – Nature on cover (MCs end up on a deserted island) and definitely battles… Twisted story, but super powerful and enthralling!
🙈Captain Hook
TBR: Worth the Risk – Features children I looooved Worth the Fall and have had this one on my TBR for a long time as well. Time to bust it out and get it read!
NEW: The Duchess Deal – Features a comically entertaining animal, Breeches the cat. I am going to recommend this book to everyone, every month, I loved it so much! This could be Europe setting, strong female character, leader (H is a Duke), Romance staple in the future, battle (of wits), clever plot line… whatever! I’ll find a way to make it fit!
NEW: The Last Werewolf - Features an animal... if you count werewolves... This is definitely NOT the usual genre for our thread, but still one of my favorite series. It's bloody and dark, but it's also witty and entertaining, shockingly erotic and compassionately, rollickingly, wonderfully written, IMHO!
🙉The White Witch
TBR: The Darkest Secret – Magical/white on cover
TBR: The Sweetest Thing – White cover I’m reading Book 1 this month
NEW: Idol – White on cover and the cover looks magical, but I have high expectations for this book being that I loved the author’s writing in her Darkest London series.
🙊Moriarty
TBR: Friend-Zoned – Sounds clever!
TBR: Hot as Hell – short book
NEW: It Ends with Us - Super clever plot! This… this book stunned me. It was so deeply emotional, deeply touching and absolutely not what I expected. I read it in 18 hours… and that’s saying something! Be prepared to be emotionally shot by the end of this one….
🙈Big Brother
TBR: The Chosen – Futuristic/dystopian elements
TBR: Manwhore +1 – Number in title
🙉President Snow
TBR: Beautiful Stranger – Popular (60,872 ratings!) and I think, strong female (yay!)
NEW: A Promise of Fire – Strong female and a surprisingly good read IMO!
Happy reading!!
