Read-a-Thon #2 - Team Scarecrow Discussion Topic
Joan wrote: "By the way the apple on the cover of Winter is red - will that count towards the book cover?
I should be finishing up Friday night. A great book by the way. The series ..."
I think in another teams discussion they mentioned the color should be 50% of the cover so I don't think it's quite enough red, but maybe violet or indigo?
I read outside today for 45 minutes. My day isn't done yet, as I am on my way to ballet for my daughter, so hopefully I can get Haunted completed tonight. I will update again before my head hits the pillow!
I just listened to another 2 hours of Lair of Dreams which brings my total for this up to 6 hours now. This also puts me at the max amount I can contribute for audio books square!
I read a short story today He Tweaked My Nose, Officer: A True Crime Short Storypages 50 grand total is 449 pages read
I don't think I will get much more reading done the rest of this read a thon due to work, but I know I can at least get my audiobook time maxed out. Hopefully I can max out my pages read too.
Jennifer wrote: "I don't think I will get much more reading done the rest of this read a thon due to work, but I know I can at least get my audiobook time maxed out. Hopefully I can max out my pages read too."I know what you mean!
Day 4 update:Total audiobook hours: 4.5
Total pages read: 246
Not as productive as I'd hoped but I should be able to finish Cinder tomorrow, and maybe start The Hound of the Baskervilles.
Sorry I didn't update last night. I got caught up in the Big Brother Finale, and that was a hot mess in itself. I have finished Haunted, so the series category is done! You can also add it to N2.That adds 317 pages to my read category, which should max out my 600 pages.
I can probably read outside again today to max out my two hours.
There aren't too many categories left to fill and it is only Thursday!
I will read
for our poem category. The whole book is one poem, but it is for middle grade, so it shouldn't take me long.
I will finish
today which will cover the violet color in the rainbow and have read outside for 2 hours now quit when it started to get hot out
Day 4 update:I had a much slower reading day yesterday then I planned on:
Total audiobook hours: 2
Total pages read: 32
Which brings my running total of pages to 489
and my total audiobook hours is now at 6!

Y'all have been able to knock off some big topics! We finished our audiobook hours and our outside reading hours. We're also less than 200 pages away from our page goal!
I have finished Love That Dog. It was just 86 pages, and it was poetry, so it didn't take long. It has a yellow cover if we still need yellow.
I have added Never Never to the ATY map to finish our N3 square. Since I did that though, Brianna, can you switch the G2 square to Haunted so the color squares don't overlap for the same book? Now I need a recommendation on what we need to work on. I don't want to step on any toes. You all have been a great team to work with!
I have finished
which is violet covered for the rainbow challenge this also puts my total pages read at 635
I can read a red covered book if no one else has the time to tackle it just let me know I have a few that I could use.
Updated the posts above and we are just knocking things out! I also update what we have left and who has mentioned what they can contribute. If anything has changed - let us know so we can fill the last few topics!
I'll read the short story tomorrow (Friday)I played scrabble, the perfect line and the individual challenge on Thursday.

Awesome! Thank you Joan!
I read Greenshaw's Folly: A Short Story by Agatha Christie last night so we can add that one. It's 40 pages long. Also it has a yellow cover if we still need one!
So if I am looking at our to do list correctly, we have a book with a red cover and a book with an indigo cover yet to finish. Then it is just participating in all of the games left to play, and commenting.
Team Scarecrow demolished this board!
Is anyone currently reading a book with a red or indigo cover? Just so we know if anyone needs to cover indigo, and if Debra needs to cover red. I know Brianna said books were started.....

We are SOOO close!
I3 - I have Samantha planning on reading The Hound of the Baskervilles which cover is indigo. Is that still in the works Samantha? If not, I think Winter would work. Otherwise, that's the only color we need!
G4 - This is something we'll just have to wait day by day for, but the games are fun so not a problem!
O2 - Since we're almost done with our board, maybe we can share what our favorite reads or games have been this read-a-thon?
Yes, I am still going to be reading The Hound of the Baskervilles. I'm starting it tonight and should have it finished early tomorrow (if not actually tonight).
What I liked about this read a thon is that I got to finish some of the books that I needed for the ATY challenge. I have been slacking some on completing this and this helped get me back on track some. As I have said before I am very competitive and a go getter so I am glad that I had a team that worked good together. my audible book is Needful Things and Stephen King himself is the narrator on this and this has had me laughing out loud in points because I just had this high respect for him and to hear him swearing and doing other unmentionable things in this book has made me crack up at times. I bet my husband thinks I have gone mad and need to be committed to the nut house.
This read a thon has also pushed me to spend more time reading then usual. I didn't get as much as I was hoping but definitely more than I normally do.
Jennifer wrote: "This read a thon has also pushed me to spend more time reading then usual. I didn't get as much as I was hoping but definitely more than I normally do."Same here! Now that we are basically finished, my urgency to read has waned. I haven't read at all today. I am sure I will before I go to sleep, but not like I was this week.
This has been a fun read a thon! I haven't had time to participate in the other activities but I loved working with you all to complete the group bingo (almost)!
I'm not sure if you were counting my short story in what was completed already but I just wanted to confirm that I finished it. It was The Keeper by Marissa Meyer -theLunar Chronicles.
After reading my one book for the read-a-thon, I haven't read anything since. I'm still coming out of a reading slump so I'm trying not to pressure myself to read more. I've enjoyed this BINGO game though!
Ive read more this week than before but I still read alot but right now I have the time as i'm not working but that will change soon.
Heres a little game we can play. 10 things about me.1. Where do you live?
2. What is your first book you remember reading?
3. What is your favorite genre? Least favorite?
4. Who is your oldest friend on goodreads?
5. Name one book you totally hated?
6. Name your all time favorite author?
7. If you could live in any place from a book where would it be?
8. Is there a book that you have tried reading multiple times but never can finish?
9. What or who got you interested in reading?
10. Name a book that made you emotional?
Ready set GO

Until we know what she's reading or able to contribute, I don't necessarily want to block out a category specifically for her to finish (especially if it's not one she wants to complete or is able to complete). Once she's able to check in, we can see what she's working on and add it then and shuffle things around if need be!
