I did actually like the 2002 Time Machine movie. I think it took liberties in all the right places. But it seems I'm in the minority on that.
I'd love to see
Beautiful Wreck made into a movie. It would be gorgeous with its settings in both the future Iceland and Viking Iceland.

I would love to see Connie Willis' Doomsday Book made into a movie.
Seeing Blackout and All Clear in action would be awesome too but there are some twists that require you not to know that some characters are the same person and seeing them might spoil the surprise.

How about our recent read: Time and Again.
According to Wikipedia, " It had long been rumored that Robert Redford would convert the book into a movie. The project has never come to fruition.[1] In July 2012, it was announced that Lionsgate studios optioned the film rights to the novel, with Doug Liman set to direct and produce."
Duane wrote: "Timebound by Rysa Walker would be perfect for the big screen."Timebound. I haven't read it yet. Is it worth the read?

For mix of popcorn science fiction and thought provoking social/ecology issues, I think Alex Scarrow's TIme Riders series would make great movies for a target audience who loves Hunger Games. Problem is, that it is a nine novel series, very epic but would need a hell of alot of truncating to perhaps make into a trilogy. FIlms should never span as long as books in a series. Harry Potter is an extraordinary exception but really Trilogy's are just right.
TimeRiders
However, for a powerful, sobering and beautifully characterised time travel journey, the above mentioned Doomsday Book gets my top vote.
Connie's novel is rich in character and setting, a lovely touch of humour but the unfolding drama's in two seperate eras of past and future makes for an incredibly powerful ingredient for a movie that in my mind could have oscar potential if directed by someone such as Sam Mendes with British thespian actors like Anthony Hopkins.
Doomsday Book
There are lots of other books as mentioned here I also love to see Rysa's TImebound made...but I rather it be done when the series has ended. Harry Potter for instance suffered in narrative flaws due to the films being made before the whole series of books was complete.

I also would like to see "Replay". It's been stuck in development for a couple of years now. http://www.movieinsider.com/m7999/rep... . 11/22/63 is also in movie limbo wating for the right script etc..
James, what about Time Signature makes it a good choice for the big screen? Is it Chris Agnello's self-discovery? The 1700s? The struggle to get back?~JT
Not sure if this is a *spoiler" but, there are these great scenes where Chris conducts an orchestra in Dublin in the 1700s, and he gets them to play 80s pop songs. People dance 1700s dances to 1980s music played by an orchestra. A Knight's Tale meets Back to the Future. Then there are some good chase scenes with horses & carriages. Kind of like the big chase at the end of Dracula (the one with Kianu Reeves & Gary Oldman). Lot's of good Irish countryside & romance. The Quiet Man meets Leap Year. And you can call me Jim ;^)
