Char | 17463 comments Lansdale?

Paradise Sky
Joe R. Lansdale's The Drive-In
Bubba Ho-Tep (Maybe you've seen the movie?)
The Best of Joe R. Lansdale
The Thicket
All the Hap & Leonards that I've read, (Maybe you've seen the show on Sundance?)
The Magic Wagon
Deadman's Road

He writes with a wonderfully dry sense of humor and his books can range from westerns, to creature features, to pulp adventures, all the way up to modern day humor like the Hap and Leonards.

So....you don't do daily searches? It's just me? LOL

message 102: by Lena (new)

Lena | 2674 comments I had heard of Bubba HoTep but that's all. Lol, no to the daily searches. More like, when the itch comes i scratch. But physical copies are in (my personal) vogue now.

Ha! I would be doing the same thing! I had no idea that people made videos of opening boxes of books.

message 105: by Lena (new)

Lena | 2674 comments It's usually opening of book boxes, I found him because we both are Nocturnal Readers, but for something special... well, we all wanted to see!

Char | 17463 comments Someone was asking for a NetGalley thread, so I thought I'd post in here to bump this up. I've also moved it from the Off Topic section to the Novels section. I hope this helps!

Marie | 4030 comments Since joining the NG ranks a couple of months ago, I have been reading some great horror books from there. Here are a couple of books so far that I have read from there.

The House by the Cemetery by John Everson by John Everson - this was such a great spooky read and here is my review on it.
https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...

and I read this shark book which is probably the best one I have ever read: Thresher A Deep Sea Thriller by Michael Cole by Michael Cole and here is my review on it:

John Coon | 29 comments If you all are looking for a horror book to read and review on NetGalley, check out Pandora Reborn, my YA horror novel. It is about a group of teens in a small Colorado town who battle an evil witch.

Here are the links below. I'd appreciate you leaving a review here and on Amazon, if you choose to download it.

That is interesting that you put this up, John, as I just put your book on my Netgalley shelf a couple of days ago to read. :) The story sounds really good! :)

I actually got a notification about this thread in my group email this afternoon and thought I'd jump on it. I didn't even know the thread existed until about a 1/2 hour ago. :)

That's cool you've got a copy already. Hope you enjoy it. :)

I am the one that mentioned the NG thread as I had seen it on here a few months ago, so our mod Char found it and has made it active again. :) I have been finding some great horror novels on NG and when I read the synopsis of your story, I knew it was right up my alley. :)

Rachel Bea (gekrepten) | 1761 comments I'm jealous you got to read Thresher, Marie, I wanted to grab it but took a bit too long and when I went back it was already archived!

That is too bad, Rachel! I have been checking out when NG will be archiving books and if I see something that I think I will want to read, I just go ahead and grab it before they archive it, because once it is on your device, it will stay there whether they archive it or not. :)

Rachel Bea (gekrepten) | 1761 comments I am currently reading The Werewolf on Lowre Few Lane, which isnt horror but it does feature werewolves :) it's a YA & LGBT, I like it so far.

message 125: by Char (new)

Char | 17463 comments I read Creature as well and adored it!

Today I finished We Sold Our Souls by Grady Hendrix and it kicked ass!

I swore I was going to stay away from there, but of course, I had to go post my review of the book above, and while I was there I saw this one: Little Darlings by Melanie Golding . I thought it looked pretty good.

Today I'm starting The House by the Cemetery by John Everson . I'm excited because it looks like a few of you thought it was pretty good. :)

Char | 17463 comments I saw a pretty cool graphic novel on Net Galley: Vertigo: A Celebration of 25 Years which was put together by Neil Gaiman.
I love Vertigo comics as the Sandman series was my introduction to graphic novels.

I requested it this morning.

I literally have more books, between Kindle and paperbacks, that I won’t live long enough to read them all. So why do I keep getting more from NetGalley??

Rachel Bea (gekrepten) | 1761 comments I just grabbed Pumpkinhead, the graphic novel. I loved Pumpkinhead while growing up so I think the graphic novel should be fun!

I also grabbed
Stories of a Condemned Soul (Volume 1) by Nathaniel Connors
This one is short and I am autoapproved for BooksGoSocial so I figured why not.

Perfect Prophet by Diane M. Johnson
Interesting plot here with Satanism, and I'm always down for more women in horror!

Hometown by Matthew Keville
Sounds like it could be great to read this month since it takes place in the fall!

message 149: by Char (new)

Char | 17463 comments The latest from M.R. Carey is available: Someone Like Me. He's the author of The Girl With All the Gifts, so I had to request it.

I also got approved for The Castle on Sunset, which is a non-fiction book that intrigued me.
