Servant of the Underworld is the first in the trilogy. I really liked the series and it was my intro to her fiction.

Aliette de Bodard is a wonderful writer. Check out her website, there's a list over her short fiction as well and where the individual stories fit into the various universes.
I highly recommend her short story "Immersion". It is a stroy that deals with cultural identity in a society that is dominated by a mainstream (foreign) culture. It is sad, poignant and beautiful - with a slightly hopeful ending.

Oh man, loved the first two. I'm not sure I agree with all of it, but super interesting.
Palmer's Too Like... is on the TBR pile. One reason I'm glad fall is here is that I'll end up reading more and I have that series, Jemisin's Fifth Season series, Borne, and more in the queue. At least I don't have to buy a book for a while.
Finished up the fourth "Agent Cormac" Polity book, Polity Agent. I like these books fine, but they are taking on a sameness because (view spoiler) I kind of wonder when they will get to the point. Book 4 ends about where Book 3 ended, after introduction of some new characters and a lot of wheel spinning.I'll go on to the fifth when it comes off hold at the library, but am not champing at the bit to read it. Time to catch up on some items I've already purchased, plus I'll put in Rappaccini's daughter somewhere.

It is very interesting so far in the questions it raises about utopia, religion, post-national communities as well as gender. It is a very erudite novel that challenges you as a reader.
