Probably 3.5-4 stars... Most things I read get at least 3 stars and I try to save 5 for AMAZING books...

(view spoiler)[ This book was kinda like in PNR/UF when the ex-wife shows up to shake up the stable relationship... only for Temeraire it was his birthplace/mother... should be nice to see Lawrence lose the jealousy/etc again in the next book... stronger bond and all that... with Temeraire reciprocating the gift-giving from the first book (hide spoiler)]

Ah cool I know where you mean. How are you finding it on the ship? I thought it was a bit boring at times. But thinking back on it I suppose there were plenty of things happening!

Its ok, but definitely not my favorite part.

So much of it being spent traveling could get old. Unless they are having a battle every day its going to get repetitive.

The book definitely got better once they made it to China.

I've finally finished it! On to the 3th one.

(view spoiler)[The fights were kind of epic. I loved the one between Laurence and his crew and the hunhun and the other one between Lin and Temeraire. I felt sorry for Lin that she lost her human and I wonder what would become of her. I have a feeling that her role has not yet come to an end. It was cute that Temeraire had his first cush. He reacted like a teenager. I knew that Yongxing was up to no good, but the climax was well thought of. It was understandable that Temeraire would like to know his mother better. Laurence is like an adoptive parent to his dragon, so his curiousity for his real mother was understandable, even a bit human as well. I was very surprised with the ask for adoption of Laurence by the emperor. (hide spoiler)]

I think I will. It's a serie that I won't get tired of it. It starts slow, but then it picks up a good pace. I hope you will enjoy the 4th book. I'm starting the 3th now.
