Review:
I'm still on a (very long) phase of reading psychological thrillers which helped make this book quite the pleasant surprise since the first page was not tagged as such. The story was from Gia's POV and followed her return home to take care of her ailing father who was previously incarcerated for murdering her stepmom. As you can imagine, there was a lot of character development and interesting dynamics between Gia, her 2 other siblings and their father. The main premise of the mystery was trying to determine if their father actually committed the murder. I enjoyed the twists and turns the story traveled and found the conclusion satisfying. I gobbled this one up from start to finish and look forward to reading more books by this author!

It looks fabulous!!!! Glad you enjoyed your book too! :)

Purfect!
... but in all actuality, I found out PMing that the author name is all that is required, ... not a link ...
tho the link is helpful to Sandra when she compiles round-finished stats like these!
... and since you have already got the book looked up, it's just as easy (for me at least) to link it as to type the author's whole name out ...

Review:
This was an action-filled romp thru a mid-1800's world fraught with thousands years old monster faerie folk, humans immured in "society" rules and mores, and the first glimmerings of steampunk technology, as evidenced by tallow candles, gaslights, and clock-work generated electric lights in various parts of town. The engineering was not too believably thought out, i.e. push a couple buttons, pull a lever, and within seconds, your steam powered ornithoptor was in the air.
So, tech a little off, but the characters, human, fae, and monster were fairly well drawn ...
Barely rated 4, tho, because of the abrupt one-short-paragraph cliff-hanger ending!

Oh, boy! I assume they are keeping up with their stamps pretty well then, right? I've been reading a few novellas for the Bout of Books read-a-thon this week, but I'm almost done with my book.
I have to say, The Night Circus has been a fantastic read! The prose is gorgeous and since I'm also listening to Jim Dale narrate the audiobook, this is one of the most visually beautiful stories I've read this year! It's going to be a five star read for me, unless something really weird happens in the next few chapters. : 0

My Review :
This book is the perfect example of artistry in words. The prose is absolutely gorgeous and painted pictures in my mind that were as magical as the story itself. I loved Celia and Marco's story, a tale of unexpected and forbidden love. They each have childhoods filled with magical training and loss, which gives them a lot in common. As the story progressed, things took surprising turn after turn. Celia is brilliant, as it Marco, neither willing to let anyone else dictate their futures. As for the reason behind their love being forbidden, I'll leave that to you to discover by reading the book.
If you can get the audiobook, I would highly recommend it. Jim Dale does an exceptional job and makes reading along a pure delight!
From the very first page to the very last, I was thoroughly enchanted with the happenings at the Circus, as well as Celia and Marco's personal growth. Their magical gifts were fascinating and blended seamlessly into the story without disrupting the beauty of the prose. I've only read one other books in my life where the words fit together so beautifully that I've gone back to re-read passages simply for the enjoyment of it. I'm pleased to add this book to that very elite list.
I won't even try to elaborate further on such a beautiful work of art, so I'll be keeping this review short and to the point. I highly recommend this book to all readers, especially fans of the Fantasy and Magical Realism genres. Brew a pot of tea, block out an afternoon, and let the author take you into the magical world of Le Cirque des Rêves, the Circus of Dreams.

I had to go through the usual red tape to get to Kit’s office. Metal detector. Pat down. Strip search, but only because I’d asked for one. Guy was hot.

That series is hilarious! Sadly, I'm only on book 4, or maybe that's happily I'm only on book 4 and have the whole series to enjoy? Anyway, it's a lot of fun!

Just a quick update...
I'm having surgery on Thursday, but I'll make sure my book is posted Wednesday night. It will be closer to the first of the week before I get my book done, but I don't expect any problems. The surgery is fairly minor and I should be home the next day. It's nothing major. Just didn't want you to worry if you don't hear from me for a few days! I'll be back!

LUCK BECK !!!!

My son just found out he's having a small surgery on Wednesday. What's going on with this week?!

K-Terror...I hope your son is okay and all goes well for him on Wednesday!
It must just be an odd week. One of my favorite YouTubers is also having surgery on Wednesday. It'll take her awhile to recover and I'm really going to miss her and her videos! She's so personable and her regular followers all get together on FB or Instagram to try her hair tutorials, or talk about hair & girl stuff. She has about 5 feet of gorgeous hair compared to my waist length hair, but we still have to get creative with it to keep it healthy or up out of the way in the summer! She's even given us tips on a hospital style that will stay up and tangle free for several days! HAH! I'm going to use it myself this week!
Does that sound weird to anybody else? Lol!

Rock Chick by Kristen Ashley
Rated: ★★★¾✩
Read: 9/1
Review:
** spoiler alert ** "Rock Chick" is truly worthy to be included on the action packed goodreads shelf. Our heroine suffers thru getting shot at, kidnapped two or three times (I lost count), stunned/tazed at least twice, a couple of car wrecks, and so much more, snarking constantly all the way through. A fast, easy, FUN read.
The two main drawbacks to this Kindle edition;
The FORMATTING ... Seems to me, with over 55 titles listed for this author at the beginning AND end of this book, the author could have found someone to do a better job of preparing it for publication ...
And there are also inevitable COMPARISONS to a few of the characters in the "Stephanie Plum" series by Janet Evanovich.
... So I shaved the rating, ¾ for the format, ½ for the comparison ...

Space: Shelf #4 ~ 8/30/17: Action Packed ~ 3/4 of the way down the list on pg 9

Review: Wow. I'm typically a Kristen Ashley fan when I read her in moderation. Typically, I love what she has to offer in her stories.. Her quirky characters, humor, interesting story lines ~ and especially all the warm fuzzies. Recently I've been reading her Hero's series which has not been my favorite so it was a very pleasant experience to come back to a story line that was back to giving me all I love of Kristen Ashley. The beginning of the story captured my interest and then it slowed a bit in the middle ~ however the last half was definitely a 5-star read. I enjoyed the parallel universe journey to a more primitive time and what Circe was able to contribute to the primitive people. The differences in the King's belief's and how woman should behave was vastly different than Circe's that it made me chuckle quite a few times. I couldn't help picturing Khal and Khaleesi in these roles. I'm looking forward to continuing on with this series.

My Review :
This series is really something special! We first met Evie and Jack in Poison Princess and boy howdy they made an incredible couple. Together with a small group of refugees, Evie and Jack managed to survive the devastated world that came after the flash (or AF). The AF killed most of the population, especially the older adults, and brought out magical powers in most of the young teens and new adults. In the second book, we learn far more about Evie's role as the Enchantress, as well as others who have become part of the Arcana. I'll be grabbing the next book ASAP because I have to know how the author is going to work out the various plot lines!
Normally, I would stay far, far away from love triangles, but the dystopian elements of this world are so interesting that I keep coming back for more. I like Jack very much, but I think the author shows true talent in the creation of Death. Whatever choice Evie makes, if she survives to make one in the first palace, I'm confident that I'll be highly entertained.
These books are clever, exciting, romantic, mysterious, full of suspense, and (my personal favorite) unpredictable. The writing is nicely done, the characters are unique, and the magical properties are very creative. This is one of the best dystopian series I've read this year. If you haven't checked out The Arcana Chronicles series just yet, I highly recommend that you give it a try.

How is everyone? I'm back home and doing great. Just struggling to stay awake long enough to read anything. Hah! Sorry it took me so long to get the review out on my book. So glad you are home and feeling great, Becky! I can believe it! My son was zonked for about the next day and a half after his surgery. Sleep is good for the healing though. :)
We did crank through this shelf pretty well! Yay Team!!

Book: Born in Fire by K.F. Breene

I read her "warrior chronicles" earlier this year ... and found her writing excellent...

Thanks, K-Terror! I guess I really needed the sleep and you're so right. It's just what our bodies need to heal.
How is your son doing now? I remember all the trips to the emergency clinic, etc. My two oldest boys played baseball and we had at least one injury per season between the summer and fall. I recall two broken noses, broken fingers, twisted ankles, and one time we had severe ligament damage.
My youngest son rode drill team routines on horseback at rodeos. He fell off once at practice when he was messing around and didn't have a bit on his horse, just a halter and rope, but he was in the arena where the dirt was real soft. He was fine!
Murphy's law... LoL!

Her name sounds familiar, but I don't recognize any of her books. I may have to check her out anyway!
My TBR keeps growing.
I hope everyone is having a wonderful holiday weekend!
