Steph (angel4492) | 32703 comments Hiya, Team Caps! Thanks for volunteering to guide your team through a round of BookShelf Bingo!

Your job, should you choose to accept it, will require a few things:
1 ~ Be our go-to person should we have any questions about your team
2 ~ Organize your teammate's weekly reads for each shelf/category so that the BSB Ninjas can quickly and easily verify and approve your stamp request(s)
2a ~ Create a master list in a post (preferably on the first page of your team's thread) and update it weekly or as often as necessary
2b ~ Post your team's stats on the Captain's Log prior to requesting a stamp
3 ~ Encourage and motivate your team (you may also ask to borrow Judithe's whip whenever necessary)
4 ~ Post regularly to ensure your team is communicating and on track each week
4a ~ Send them a PM and friendly poke if they haven't posted at least once a week, noted their book choice, and/or appear to have dropped out of webspace
5 ~ Send us a PM (Steph, Sandra or Judithe) should you need us for any reason throughout the game

Kim Shumaker (kim_shumaker) | 707 comments I'm rushing around trying to get organized - work is really crazy right now. I'm not real creative with names but I've always liked "Four-to-Score" - not very original and I'm definitely open to any other suggestions. Anyone want to volunteer to be Team Captain?

I'm going to go scope out our shelf choices for this round - hopefully there will be some good ones!!

message 11: by Sarah (new)

Sarah Dizon (sarahd828) | 1376 comments I like Four-to-Score! The only thing I thought of was Connect Four. lol

I do not want to be Captain, unfortunately, I just won't have time for it.

message 12: by Thenia (new)

Thenia | 977 comments I took a quick look into previous BSB names and R11's #4 team was named Four to Score as well.

How about Leap 4th (since leap years occur every 4 years) or 4 Squared (since there are 4 of us in team 4) or Reading (or some other kind of) Quartet?

I've been captain in previous rounds so I could dust off my captain's hat if no one else volunteers.

LaurLa | 1207 comments I'm back again. I like 4 Squared too. Thanks for being captain, Thenia!

Seems like last time I had tons of time to check the shelves and search my books for them, but either the start up time was shorter this time or I've just lost a bunch of time!

I've never read this author so wasn't sure what to expect. It was a pleasant read. More emotional than I expected. The inevitable conflict/big misunderstanding was present, but it did not take over the book. We got to see a real friendship and relationship grow before it happened which made it sadder in some respects to see the MCs split up, but also the acceptance and understanding easier once they were able to talk about the problem again. I enjoyed the book even though it was somewhat formulaic - the characters were enjoyable.

I have been doing a binge reread of the series in preparation for Into the Fire - only this time I listened to it in audio. The narrator is really good but after 3 books back to back Leila was getting on my nerves.
I really love this series. Vlad and Leila are a great couple with loads of chemistry. This being the 3rd book in the series it's pretty much more of the same with some loose ends being taken care of and a huge new development at the end. I'm very much looking forward to reading the final book in the series.

This was an okay read. The plot is good and I like stories that have several different supernatural beings. It was a little to risque for my taste. Several interesting side characters, especially Tristan. I may try reading the next book in the series but not in a hurry to do so.

I read the Dulcie series... it was cute ;-) I sort of binge read it though, and overloaded a bit. But still a cute series.

This was a fun journey with Cade and Holly. Although I guess if you're a stickler about cheaters, this one might bother you. Usually I am but the author did a good job of nullifying the relationship between Holly and her 'not-quite' boyfriend. Beyond that, though, the building of the relationship between Cade and Holly was fun. I loved the way Cade handled her 'quirks', not making fun of her or belittling her but also stretching her at times. I felt sorry for Cade's dilemma and I was happy that in the end Holly didn't give him too hard a time about his decisions. Looking forward to Rydstrom's story since I see him as a jerk... might be glad to see him get jerked around for a while.

I don't really know what I was expecting when I started this. I think I saw a few people had enjoyed it and it was free, so why not?

I did not like the writing style, however I think the suspenseful scary parts were well done. Everything else was just kind of a downer. I didn't like Perry or Dex. I didn't like Perry's sister or her cousins. There really wasn't anything I liked that much. What kept me reading was I didn't have another freebie and the creepy parts. Those were well done. I gave this 2.5 stars but rounded up to 3.

I'm undecided if I'll continue the series. I always feel like I should whenever I start a series, but this one may be something I don't continue with.

LaurLa | 1207 comments I'm not a huge sci-fi fan... not much of one at all really, so it's my dedicated sci-fi series right now for when a challenge calls for it. It just happens to work here this week.

I do like it, though, so will probably try another series by her when I finish this one.

Review:
I enjoyed this much more than the first book. Aisling has matured some and is dealing relatively well with her life in the Otherworld and being a Guardian though her powers are still a bit out of control. She and Drake seem to finally be getting it together and then it goes to hell.
Fire Me Up takes place in Budapest while she is attending a conference in search of a Guardian willing to be her Mentor. Drake is also there trying to negotiate a peace treaty among the other Septs of dragons. Of course there is a murder mystery and my favorite side characters, Jim & Renee, are there to help Aisling get to the bottom of it.
I really enjoyed it until the last couple of chapters. I'm not sure why the author decided to make Aisling return to her "poor, pitiful me" whining self that we saw way too much of in the first book. Her idea of betrayal is pretty skewed and her own actions, in my opinion, were much worse. I did not like how it ended but I'm hoping that all will be fixed in book 3.

Well, something's really wacked in the world if I'm giving sci-fi 5 stars. But I can't help it. This series just keeps getting deeper and better the more I read. I almost (almost) want to go re-read the first book because I barely paid attention to it because I was just reading a sci-fi for a challenge and didn't expect to like it much. Same for book 2... I liked book 1 enough to read the 2nd when I needed another sci-fi. By book 3 I was hooked on the characters and now I'm really hooked. The growth arc of Sirantha is amazing and her relationship with March is beyond words. They are each other's anchor but keep putting everyone/thing else before themselves, it's heartbreaking to read and yet that is what makes the characters so amazing. Enough gushing... read the series!
