If you are looking for a good medical mystery, I recommend Trigger by Jessica L. Webb. Why is Dr. Kate Morrison able to touch people who have been turned into explosives? It was a good story of rescuing the people and figuring out why she could touch them and not explode.

If you like cozy mystery stories, I recommend Kylie Logan's League of Literary Ladies. Each book is an homage to a classic story and author. They are fun!

Rachel Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince (Harry Potter, #6) by J.K. Rowling -J.K. Rowling 8-12-17
For the most part, my view of the Harry Potter series is that each subsequent book in this series gets longer and more interesting because the kids are getting older, and so, the situations get more intense. It's so well written and has good values. Very good fantasy. In this book, the characters continued to mature and change, sometimes as expected and sometimes not, and there were a lot of interesting plot twists. I'd forgotten how much of Voldemort's backstory is revealed in this one.

I've reread them and I was surprised by how much I forgot and how much is left out of the movies. My niece and nephew just finished them and enjoyed them.

Rachel Right. even though I love the movies also, I think Half-blood Prince could have been a 2-part movie just as easily as Deathly Hallows was.

Chuck | 34 comments 6. Read a book about traveling.
"Tales from the Dodger Dugout" by Tommy Davis

A bit of a stretch on this one, but Tommy Davis (former outfielder for the Los Angeles Dodgers) tells of his life "Traveling" through the low minor leagues of baseball to the Big Show.

Rachel Me and Mr. Darcy by Alexandra Potter -Alexandra Potter 8-19-17
An amusing contemporary Pride and Prejudice love story that also deals with how real people just can't measure up to the idealistic standards set by a fictional character who is designed to be a fantasy, meaning that a real relationship just won't look like a love story does within the pages of one's favorite book.

Bridget Jones's Diary (Bridget Jones, #1) by Helen Fielding -Helen Fielding 8-23-17
I liked this book; it wasn't as funny as the movie, but it was still quite good. However, if you don't like vulgarity, this is not the series for you.

Bridget Jones The Edge of Reason (Bridget Jones, #2) by Helen Fielding -Helen Fielding 8-27-17
Again, I liked this book; it wasn't as funny as the movie, but it was still quite good. However, if you don't like vulgarity, this is not the series for you.

Mad About the Boy (Bridget Jones, #3) by Helen Fielding -Helen Fielding 8-29-17
This book in the series doesn't have a movie to go along with it, and based on the negative reviews I saw, that is because it wasn't as popular as the rest of the series. Now then, was I thrilled that so much time in Bridget's adulthood and that (view spoiler) in this novel, no, but I still found Bridget to be hilariously chaotic and lovable as always as she deals with parenthood, middle age, and the craziness of Twitter.

Double Take by Melody Carlson -Melody Carlson 8-30-17
This was an entertaining rendition on the old look-alikes trade places/lives for a time plot. A rich modern New York City girl trades lives with a simple Amish girl for a week with funny but character building results. The novel was fairly well written and the character development was great for such a short novel. The main thing that I found lacking was that I wanted to know what happened after they switched back. Did Madison repair her relationship with her former best friend? Did Anna have more compassion towards her aunt? And there was so much else I would have loved to know about where their lives go after they each went home. Anyhow, I really liked it.

Bridget Jones's Baby The Diaries (Bridget Jones, #4) by Helen Fielding -Helen Fielding 8-30-17
In the story of Bridget Jones, this is chronologically number 3, taking place very soon after the events in the second novel, Bridget Jones: The Edge of Reason. The title makes the plot extremely obvious although knowing that it's Bridget Jones we're talking about, she is unsure exactly which one of the two men she "shagged" in less than a 48 hour period is the father of her baby until the baby is born and they do a paternity test (as she was too scared to do amniocentesis during the pregnancy). The novel is fairly well written, and it is funny and sweet. In this case, I think the book and the movie were equally good.

I have to admit I was not a fan of Bridget Jones' Diary. She was too angsty. Maybe I'm just too old for these types of books. The movie was better but then again it did have Colin Firth.
