Um.....Harry Potter.I love the books dont get me wrong.I didnt really care for him though. He was a little rude and self-centered.
Dolores Umbridge is definitely my least favorite character. She is so annoying because of her falsely sweet voice first of all. Secondly she is cruel and vindictive and I know wasn't technically a death eater but she was as good as one because she shared a lot of the same views as them and even headed the muggle trials.
To the people who said Snape was the worst... i disagreedid you actually finish the series???
the worst charachter is 100% argus filch.
for me, dudley dursley, because I feel like harry did nothing to deserve how mean dudley and his friends were to harry, and i feel like that would be unjustified
Umbridge also sucks , with her pen, that was reallly bad, but also draco malfoy, because he was just utterly cruel to harry for 7 years, and then percy weasly

This is just a personal thing, as I cannot stand vindictive people and even though he did the right thing in the end, he still ruined a whole lot o..."exactly, I was especially irked when Rowling gave him a 'redemption arc' because like, he was literally the WORST FEAR of a child whose parents were tortured into insanity by someone who's still alive. Also the fact that we're supposed to feel bad for him because of the Lily arc just doesn't work for me because he called her a wizard slur and was surprised that she didn't want to date him after???? And then he tries to get Voldemort to kill her husband and child but leave her be so he can snatch her up???? Like sir that is her whole-ass SON.

He said that what Mulciber did to M..."yeah, but at the same time I got pissed off whenever Rowling tried to make us feel bad for him, so it did kinda get in the way of my enjoying the books
ok, I see your point, and I agree with you, but in the end, he really is a nice guy. except that he has a "FEW" (a lot) of bad mistakes and scenes that don't make him look good. If you research his background, you'll understand a bit more. But i agree with you, it did kind of ruin enjoying them.

After all, books are meant to be open to interpretation
Umbridge through and through. She made it her business to punish people and to reward others like Draco, who joined her in doing the punishing. You can atleast argue that other contenders for 'worst character' like Snape or Filch.Other close winers are Pansy and Bellatrix (but they didn't make any show of pretending they were nice, and honestly Pansy was pretty harmless and full of air).
No Offence... For me it should have been Harry himself... Sure he was DISCRIMINATED by his aunt, uncle and Dudley. We connect into the depth of the character in the first three books or so... But at a point of time his characterization slowly becomes monotonous...the same scar, always paining. Having a huge responsibility... which sidetracks the prime characters of the novel... leaving some stories incomplete... JK Rowling had 'perfectly' designed Harry's character... But without adding a surprise element to his personality, it is stretched... I'm not saying that there shouldn't be a Harry at all... I'm saying that she could have added a bit more emotions and twists in his personality to prevent his one-dimensionality... Finally, this characterization makes Harry a tedious character in the latter novels.
In every good book there should be someone you learn to love and hate. This is a series, so it will adjust to its plural. But there is one worst of them all. Dolores Umbridge: This woman was the dread of anyone's dreams. Amazingly performed in the movies, Imelda Staunton hit the spot perfectly. Although, the movies neutralised her, as in the books she was even more evil. This character still disgusts me now and for ever.
The HP character I hated the most was Peter Pettigrew. It was just the fact he betrayed his friend James just not to get murdered by Voldemort. And he even helped him back into power although he knew if Voldemort would live again he would do his best to kill Harry, the son of his former best friend.
To me the worst character is defined as the one I most hated throughout reading the series. I would say its Dolores Umbridge

Worst character in the Harry Potter series 100% Umbridge but she was well written otherwise we woulden't hate her so much.
For me, when I think of worst character, I think about it from a writers perspective... Snape isn't loveable, but he's one of the most interestingly written characters in the entire series. Umbridge similarly, she's a little 1d, but she has some great distinctive traits and tendencies. She's well defined. My 'worst' character is probably, well any Goblin really, they control all the gold in the wizarding world, but somehow they aren't exerting political pressure, because it seems like they aren't properly respected. All the portrails of them seem generic, and they don't really seem to play much of a role.
Honorable mention to Crabbe/Goyle, who could be some spell gone wrong for all the life and personality they were given. But in their case, it fits their backstory, such as it is.
Percy and Umbridge...Although, I gotta say, it is kinda enjoyable to listen to Umbridge argue and stuff. I think she's just so annoying and gross, it's almost funny.
GINNY WEASLY . I hate her so much , she is one of the worst characters I have ever seen. She was an extra ! And she was always trying to join Golden Trio . And of course Harry should have ended up with Hermione . A girl who deserved!
I didn't like Snape-The only reason he protected Harry was because he saw some of his mother in him. He hated Harry because he was like his father. Snape had betrayed Lily multiple times and expected her to love him back and because she didn't he was jealous of James. Yes, it is true that James was a bully but he was a good man. Had Snape been in the situation of Harry and Lily dying he wouldn't have hesitated to run and save himself. He also was a death eater and didn't intervene and convince Voldemort to spare them, rather he went to DUMBLEDORE and asked him to save only Lily. This, among many other reasons is why he was my least favorite character.
