I figured this would be a long drawn out battle. Bc they all sounded pretty good. I was looking forward to reading any and all. Great selections this time. I think I'll just add these to my wish list.
Ok I read 37 pages. I think it is interesting, but I had no idea of the cursing and things like that in it and I wanted to apologize. So much of it bothers me.
Oh you! Ok so everyone let's get reading and discussing. It's just getting interesting where I am at :)
Skye, I see it on nook for 4.99. It's digital but it'll do in a pinch. Check other places or the library. Come on Skye. And though we might be reading it now, some of us don't get around to them right away. But eventually we read them or catch up and then go pick up in discussion. The schedule is not quite so rigorous.

Yes, and I'm the worst, LOL. I always have to go back to the discussion boards later. I am just now reading The Passage.

I should mention, the name Jude makes my skin crawl. I had to read Jude the Obscure for my British Lit class and it made me want to rip my hair out.

Yes, the Mom, Stevie, Rosie... The list just kept growing. I know it all centered around abuse but I had enough after Rosie's consistent blathering. My irritaition began to outweigh the creep factor that was building.
I have never dealt well with complianers. In my mind, I'm always like... Well, fix it then. This probably stems from the fact that my family is full of them. I don't need any more in my reading, LOL.
And guys, please realize this is a personal preference of mine. The writing itself is really good. There is a wonderful creep factor here.
Don't let my irritation turn you against reading it.
I will probably never read Rebecca even though most of you loved it.

Yeah I noted the abuse. Don't suppose I could get you to push on ? That 's all the ppl did in The Ritual but that turned out to be a creeptastic book. I've got to get My Cousin Rachael and The Essex Serpent. I know abuse is touchy and .. things but honestly. If you have ever been through it, you'd whine too. Probably.
Maybe think about pushing forward ?
And again Skye you know diddley about this book right now.

That's why I was wanting some feedback earlier. I was wanting to know if it ever stopped.
Sidenote, I have had people try to abuse me in the past... It didn't go well... For them.

Yeah. I need to get reading .. and not just me. I see all these ppl come out of the woodwork to vote and then they disappear. Do ppl just like voting on things and then going poof?

Shaina, I often wonder about the BOTM; I do my best to read and discuss and people vanish.

I didn't vote for it: I voted for the classic gothic---My Cousin Rachel, and it is very good. Again, keep mind, am a big Du Maurier fan and read Rebecca several times.
Well, not here. I can only imagine what it would be like had you been reading it. Like the Yellow Wallpaper. That was good discussion. But, we don't expect you to discuss something you haven't read. And as you can see, we don't vanish.
How about this, you let me know if it stops. If it does I'll pick it back up. I was really interested and invested in Stevie's story and then poof (POV shift, another irritation of mine). When he stood up to his step-dad and brother, I was like "Yeah, you go, Stevie!"
I understand why it changed, giving the monster's perspective and all, but the story slammed on the brakes when it did that.
And, yeah, what's up with the voting? This group is 700 strong and we have like 5-10 people wanting to give feedback. I see people rating the books we've read... Conundrum (btw, my fave word).

Neither do I, Shaina. That was a great discussion, wasn't it?
Deal, Trinity .. if you keep going on the Passage. It was your nomination long ago. Hehehe. So many pieces.

It sounds 'finish worthy,' Trinity, and I like enigmatic as a synonym.
Oh, Skye.. I was talking to Trinity there about pushing on. Sorry. I knew you weren't reading it.
Glad to hear you are liking the classic read though and look forward to your input.
