like ok it’s not often that people around here are super racist but they are definitely borderline racist, like my dad uses a really old-fashioned word in arabic to refer to black people that basically translates to the N word, and i’m always calling him out on it, but it’s lile a common thing around here? also because the area surrounding where i live is bad in terms of crime (bc detroit area is sketchy sometimes), everyone is really overly cautious and call the cops about literally everything? like once my sister called the cops on our neighbor for knocking on our door,? and yeah pretty much everyone’s racist

the fact that lebanese people think they’re superior to every other type of arab is ridiculous though! it’s really common around here bc everyone’s arab so like at my high school the social hierarchy is based on where you’re from. once we had to do an assignment in my english class (right around when we read LOTF) and we had to construct a social pyramid of FHS and like it was baddddd. people put the top of the pyramids as “lebanese guys who’s dad own a gas station” and the bottom as “yemenis and iraqis who just immigrated here last year” and as much as i hate to admit that it’s true, it’s so true. it’s really bad, everyone’s racist as fuck.
