Welcome!

I will give brief reviews of the two books I did use. I liked Dark Skye more than I expected. Lanthe had been so terrorized by the Vrekeners and Thronos had been so malevolent in his earlier appearances that I was afraid they would go through some abusive, violent times. It turned out, though, to be a sweet romance compared to many in IAD. Also, there was plenty of action as they worked their way through the four realms.
On the other hand, I was disappointed by Ghost Bride, this month's book for the Vaginal Fantasy group. I found the heroine to be too immature and passive...she got her ass kicked much more than she kicked any ass! The "romances" weren't very developed and the only sexy times were a couple short kisses. Actually that was kind of refreshing after so many IAD books, but there has to be a happy medium.

LOL!

Martha, I finished IAD this year, too. It quickly made it into my top 5 series. Which book/characters do you like best??
I've been struggling to find my next favorite series. I tried the Mercy Thompson books at my cousin's suggestion and loved them. Reading the Alpha & Omega series now. The Patricia Briggs books are really the only ones to pull me out of my series hangover slump. I'm anxious about getting to the end of Alpha & Omega because I don't have anything lined up to blow me away like IAD.
I recently read the 1st Charley Davidson and I think I'll stick with it a few more books to see how it goes. I am also working my way through the Elemental Assassin (on #4) & The Other's series (on #3). What are you reading next? Anything else that knocks your socks off?

Done!

Yes, that'd work, Martha.

I also really liked Mercy Thompson, I haven't read Alpha/Omega yet but it's on my (long) list. I'm fairly new to UF/PNR series, so I'm still catching up on some of the classics. One of my favorites was Kate Daniels and I also loved their new Hidden Legacy series.
I read the first Eternal Assassin and was not liking Gin's "I'm so tormented and cold as ice, Grief, Guilt" routine, but I eventually got into the story and the boss fight was intense so I'm going to read at least one more. I also started Black Dagger Brotherhood and I'm enjoying the super badass brothers and their plucky little mates but Lover Eternal bothered me by leaving the Bella/Zsadist story hanging for the next book. I think I'm going to leave it for a while and start something else, maybe Psy/Changeling?

Hang in there with the Elemental Assassin books ... I hated Donavan Caine ... I hated how conflicted he made Gin feel and how much power over her that she gave him. (view spoiler)
I loved all the BDB books & the Fallen Angel series by Ward. I read them before I found Kresley Cole.
I am loving Alpha & Omega - I've been reading them at a pace of 1 book every 2-3 days.
If you're new to UF/PNR, I would suggest Iron Druid by Kevin Hearne - it's a fantastic series. Lots of pantheons, lots of action. Definitely UF (instead of PNR). Very cool to hear a male voice in this genre. Oberon, Atticus' irish wolf hound, is so, so lovable and is totally every dog. Serious stuff happens throughout the series but Oberon keeps things lighthearted.

I totally agree with you about Gin - books 3 & 4 were much better than 1 & 2 as far as her commentary goes. (view spoiler)

Melissa, I read the EA short stories, too, and agree that they give some good insights. I always like getting the other POVs. On the other hand, after all the BDB I'm finding single POV books rather refreshing.

Totally agree - it's easy to get burnt out. If you are in the mood for single POV stuff, you could try the Iron Druid series by Kevin Hearne or the Alex Verus books by Benedict Jacka. I'm getting ready to re-read the Omens series by Kelley Armstrong in anticipation of book 5's release next month. Also, Charlaine Harris' Midnight Texas series follows the same core characters throughout the 3 book run (with few from the Sookie Stackhouse world!) & the TV show is supposed to start Monday night. Lotsa good stuff!

Melissa, I also read the first Iron Druid and thought it was a lot of fun. You have such good recommendations! Now I just need some titles that fit this challenge.

This book was on my TBR for a reeeeallly long time. I wasn't feeling what I had checked out from the library, so I used a random number generator to pick something from my TBR & this was the # that came up. I'm so glad that it did and I'm kicking myself for not reading it sooner.
Martha, I'm starting to think we are the perfect book buddies! Just different enough to keep things interesting!
