The Assassin and the Pirate Lord - (view spoiler)[It actually felt super nostalgic to see Aelin still acting as Celaena! I loved this insight to her history with Arobynn and also to see her and Sam so argumentative and competitive with each other, before their mission drove them closer (hide spoiler)]

The Assassin and the Healer - (view spoiler)[Yrene seemed like such a sweet character and it was interesting to see how females in this kingdom, without Caleana's strength, might be treated. I do wish that this focused more on those who actually featured throughout the series (unless she appears in the last two books???), but I did like seeing her interactions with Celaena, though. The Assassin and the Desert - (view spoiler)[I enjoyed this insight to a different part of the kingdom, as well as to another band of assassin's that weren't Arobynn's, with the Sessiz Suikast. Her time in the desert with them opened Celaena's eyes to a different way of training as well as to life when you aren't the favourite or most infamous figure in the room. This was my favourite story, so far, for how interesting the training, how twisted the plot was, how much I loved Ansel initially, and how shocked I was by her deceit. (hide spoiler)]

The Assassin and the Underworld - (view spoiler)[This was initially the most drama-filled story, in the collection. Celaena, Lysandra and Sam all seemed jealous of their various relationships with each other and Arobynn is there to stir the pot for personal gain. I did enjoy seeing Celaena and Sam work together on her mission but I wish she hadn't behaved so horribly to Lysandra, throughout. Arobynn had the last laugh as he played Celaena again and forced her to aid the slave trade when she thought she was abolishing it. I hated him even more than I already did, after reading this! The Assassin and the Empire - (view spoiler)[I love how this began with a section after the events before altering to those that led up to that point. The most traumatic and tragic ending to this collection, which I think I loved even more than during my first reading. (hide spoiler)]

A lot of the novella covers characters that Celaena will meet later on like how the Pirate Lord one was focused on Rolfe and he was a new character introduced in Empire of Storms. Celaena trying to take a ship that would let her see how Yrene was doing on her way back was so sweet. So this in my second time reading this and having read the whole series, I really like seeing where it all begin.

I totally agree. This had such an emotional conclusion but that ensured this collection has stayed with me long after finishing them.

Omg Lysandra sucks here 😂😭 Sam is still darn cute though omg my heart. Ooooomg the masked nobles were definitely Dorian and Chaol weren’t they?!? Omg so cool!!!! Loving the Easter eggs. Her breaking in scene reminded me a lot of a certain scene of her saving Chaol in one of the books, and also of Inej from Six of Crows for some reason lmao. Never noticed that before.

THEY KISSED OMG THAT SCENE WAS SO CUTE!!! It was quite obvious that Arobynn was playing her and that that dude was really the good guy, she’s really quite stupid in this book so far. She definitely changed. I can’t even see why I ever liked Lysandra at this point, she sucks so much??? I love that Celaena and Sam are living together :’) Since I’m now entering the last chapter, I’m massively scared of what’s coming and I’m trying to emotionally prepare myself… (hide spoiler)]

I do agree with Celaena I’d rather be homeless outside of a place I really want to be at rather than being homeless somewhere else. The Assassin and the Healer: (view spoiler)[ This was a peaceful one. We got to know a bit what happened after Celaena freed the slaves. We also got a glimpse into how caring Celaena can be actually. Like she still has soft spots for people who also had their lives ruined by the King. Yrene seemed like a good character, I liked her from the little bit we did see of her. And I’m glad she decided to leave the Inn. (hide spoiler)]

The Assassin and the Desert: (view spoiler)[ I love how these stories are told in order. We also finally got the story on how Celaena stole an Asterion horse from the Lord of Xandria that Celaena had briefly mentioned to Chaol and Dorian in book 2. I also remember her vaguely saying that she doesn’t have many female friends because one basically stabbed her in the back, and I’m guessing now she meant Ansel. Ansel seemed like she would’ve made a great friend. I enjoyed this story. I wonder if Celaena still had the spider silk though? She’s never mentioned it in the first 2 books. And now she can finally pay of Arobynn and get him out of her hair. (hide spoiler)]
