I chose Guinea, and the area of health, and read The Demon in the Freezer: A True Story Although the book is primarily focused on smallpox, it also is illuminating on ways in which diseases spread, especially those like Ebola, and Guinea was one of the countries in which Ebola was widespread in the last serious outbreak. 292 pages
For my second book, I chose option 2, and read Dragonsinger, from Justme's 5 star list. I read the kindle edition, but linked to the top MMPB for page purposes - 240 pages.
Total pages read: 532, exceeding 400 page minimum page requirement.

For my first book, I chose option 2 and read The Godmother's Apprentice. I read the kindle edition, but the paperback (no MMPB) is 294 pages - The Godmother's Apprentice.
