what are you reading now?
Just finished Swords and Deviltry. Now reading Illuminae by Amie Kaufman and The Red Line by Walt Gragg.
The Singularity Trap by Dennis E. Taylor (audio) and The Calculating Stars by Mary Robinette Kowal (ebook)
This year I've been going for comfort reads, meaning not a lot of s-f. Been reading Sue Grafton mysteries (up through "J"), and have developed a taste for (bread and butter) pickle and peanut butter sandwiches.Just finished Lee Killough's first book in the Brill & Maxwell series, The Doppleganger Gambit, which I enjoyed, probably because I'm into mysteries lately and it's as much a mystery as it is s-f. Gonna have to get the rest of those, I guess.
Been poking at westerns but have yet to find anything I like as much as Herbert Purdum's My Brother John. Some days I really wish he'd written more westerns. Other days I look at his movie and TV work and figure it's just as well.
Should just pick up a new-to-me Zane Grey, I guess.
Just finished The Visitors, by Clifford D. Simak. Not pleased. Not at all pleased. He's done better.

Also still hacking away at Gormenghast. I'm craving more feel-good stuff right now, and find much more than a couple of chapters of Gormenghast at a shot oppressive, but am still enjoying the language and imagery of it.
