Anne of Green Gables
question
I loved reading ________ with my daughter when she was growing up.

My daughter and I read many books aloud when she was growing up. Anne of Green Gables was one of our favorites and we'd still like to go to Prince Edward Island together. We also loved Sarah, Plain and Tall and the American Girl series.

Anne of Green Gables, both the book and movie series, hold many memories for my family and I. Such a wonderful story and beautiful characters. Not to mention, it is so peaceful and serene. :)

I love this topic!
A few of our favorites were Anne of Green Gables, Anne of Avonlea, The Little House Collection, The Betsy-Tacy Treasury: The First Four Betsy-Tacy Books, and All-of-a-Kind Family.
My daughter and her brothers all enjoyed Beverly Cleary's books as well.
My very favorite thing in all the world is to read-aloud to my kids. I still read aloud to my 15 year old son.

Aww this thread brings up beautiful memories of my kids sitting on the floor with hot cocoa, listening. I read everything from Unfortunate Events, Little House on the Prairie series, Box car kids, Beverly Cleary, The Giant Peach, Wrinkle in Time, the Hobbit, and the Green Gables.
It wasn't always easy to do, but my kids loved it. <3 <3

I read Amelia Badilia books growing up with my mom. Amelia always seemed like such a cool character in the 80's.
I'm a young teen myself, and I read to my grandmother and sister. The Goosebumps series has been a hit, but I've also read Charlotte's Web, Rules, The Flunking of Joshua T. Bates, and a lot more that I can't remember at this moment.
I read Anee of Green Gables as a girl, so I read it with my daughter as well. We also shared Astrid Lindgren and Enid Blyton and many others together. I very, very enjoyably managed to turn my son into a reader through Harry Potter, which we both relished, The Inheritance Cycle by Christopher Paolini was another one which was great to read together. Miss those times, now that they are teenagers we "recommend" each other books, coming from them to me "A Fault in our stars", which I enjoyed but reacted very differently to than my big little girl.
Charlie and the Chocolate Factory is the book I am currently reading with my daughter. She loves it!
I loved reading the "Little House" books by Laura Ingalls Wilder.
Elisha Brazeale
My mother read them to me (I firmly believe this was how I learned to read, surprising my family, at age four) and now I am reading them to my son, (5

I'd forgotten about the American Girl series, thank you for bringing back a great memory! My mother bought me a set for enacting plays, each play was based on a period in the life of an American Girl (not so many then as now), complete with a book of scripts for each player, playbills, tickets ect. My friends and I had so much fun creating elaborate scenery, costumes and hosting plays for our family and friends. It would be cool if there was such a thing for the Anne of Green Gables series. Thanks, again!
Sarah plain and tall was a great series. I also loved the door in the wall at that age.
