me too! and read them all to my kids!
My mother read them to me (I firmly believe this was how I learned to read, surprising my family, at age four) and now I am reading them to my son, (5 years old). It's amazing that, after a hundred plus years, they are still so relatable and appealing, even to such a young child as my son. I meant to read them in order and started with 'Little House in the Big Wood' but he saw the cover of 'Farmer Boy' and so, of course, I had to read it next. He likes to put on a wooly, natural coat to 'dress-up' as 'Manny', (Almanzo Wilder) and snuggles down to pretend it is deep winter and snowing when I read the winter sections. And this is a kid who lives in Florida, has never seen snow and is usually so active I can barely get him to pay attention to anything not featuring a superhero, (and here, a book without many illustrations! Although, the Garth Williams drawings are that much more delightful when we come across one, Gabriel (my son) actually shivers in excitement and his big, blue eyes light -up). Amazing. Love Laura Ingalls Wilder. Just LOVE her.
