Lolol yea he totally freaked out about her comment on the "kitty-cat friend". I honestly do think there's SOMETHING there & not just for wishful thinking.
I went back and re-read their scenes together to see if it really was just me and my wishful thinking. And it just seemed like thee were A LOT of small little hints about them being interested in one another that were dropped around pretty often. It seems kinda pointless for those little hints to be there for absolutely no reason at all so..
Pretty sure something will come of it.
The thing I most adore about these books is that at this point literally ANYTHING could happen. This story could go in countless directions, same goes for the love plot. Who Aelin ends up with is completely up in the air in the moment. I believe that when she goes back she'll have to work with Chaol they'll rekindle for a night and both come to the realization that they're not right for each other (at the end of HOF I got the impression that they were both on track for closure) there's this line that Chaol said: "he knew eventually it would stop hurting" something like that. Foreshadowing perhaps? And although I ship the Rowan ship SO HARD for the moment it appears that its utterly platonic, if something were to happen there would have been something hinted in their scenes together, some electricity, rather than Celeana saying that there was nothing romantic AT ALL about them sharing a bed. And wouldn't it be so refreshing to have such a intimate relationship between two characters of the opposite gender without it being romantic? As for Aedion, whom I love, thats a wild card. Yes, they only saw each other as brother and sister but keep in mind this was TEN years ago this could easily change (UGH CANNOT WAIT FOR THAT SCENE WHEN CELEANA RESCUES HIM AND THEY'RE REUNITED AND THEY'RE BOTH SHOCKED FOR A MOMENT BEFORE THEY GASP EACH OTHERS NAMES OUT) Although the constant mention that they look EXACTLY alike and could be twins gives me an incesty vibe, again perhaps its on purpose.
As for Dorian, I don't particularly ship it but the parallels bruh. The whole Elena, who was Fae and a badass warrior, and that dude (the king) being together and falling in love in the battlefield and all that. Also, it can't be a coincendence that Elena appears to Aelin and the king to Dorian. And honestly what better way to form an alliance, after the destruction that is sure to come and they're both the heirs to their own kingdoms, than through marriage? Furthermore, again the whole human prince falling in love with the Fae girl is mentioned in the Mab plot line. Foreshadowing? Coincidence?

Im am TRULY hoping that Aelin is saying its platonic with Rowan because (like u said) i think Maas wants to ACTUALLY build a solid friendship before any love\relationship starts, because that is the key to a goooood romance. and secretly Celaena's kinda sorta denying her feelings for Rowan.... :))))) ;) . Because didnt she mention that their relationship was ONLY friendly, a little too often? Hint. *cough* ;)

Yeah! The way this books take it,'s exactly the reazon why i can't sleep! I ship so seriously rowin! Anyway i think this. 1. I prefer that celeana could see in aedion a protective brother! The kind of brother that will kick the ass off whoever dare to hurt you.
2. Dorian, i think that they are good friends and may be she see in dorian a little guy who she needs to take care of!
3. Chaol is good but if she want to be with her, please... He have to grow and be more secure about his feelings

For what you asked Sarah, I think knowing how old Rowan is, he would understand who and what a mate is. I wondered the same thing you did, but then he mentioned being arrogant and misguided. He was so full of himself that he couldn't even scent that his wife was pregnant. A really tragic story which is why I hope he allows himself a second chance at love. I don't think Aelin can be his "mate," but still something very close to it. Hopefully Sarah reveals more details of what it is like to have a mate.

I am so late to this discussion.. But I SO SHIP ROWLIN!! I mean they are nearly perfect for each other. I also agree with mostly everything in this discussion. But I must add this. Do you guys tenner Choal and Rowans reactions to Celeanas scars? Ha well I do! for the most part... I'm not to sure about Choals reaction, it's been a while since I read the books, but he really didn't have one I remember correctly. Sure he was a bit angry and sad about it, but Rowan got him beat! Rowan was LIVID. He acted like he wanted to kill the people who did that to her the first chance he got. That got to me. I almost cried at that point. Anyone who gets that angry at something like that cares deeply for you and you can't deny it.

Jajaja, anyway, Sarah will reveal more details about the carranam, the whole male thing and more! Couse, remember. Ok, Rowan has already met his mate. But... Aelin don't (sorry but I'm not sure that Chaol is her mate). So what???? Who is, then???? May be she doesn't have it... May be she does... May be, it was sam??? There're many things that need to be explained. May be.... (I really hope this) the carranam is a bond further stronger than a mate, may be it implicates that a carranam could be whathever you wish... A lover, a brother, a bff....

I agree I feel like Rowan needs a second chance. Celaena/Aelin seemed to soften him up a bit and remind him what it was like to care.
Celaena lost Sam, Rowan lost his mate, they are both hurting. Maybe together they could heal.
I think Manon would be the best match for Rowan tbh, but Sarah already dismissed this, so yeah haha

2. They have created every bond possible to a person in that world except for a sexual one. That is the natural next step.

5. They are both Fae.
6. He will help her regain her throne.
7. She cannot marry Dorian because they both must rule countries in their own right, and the people of Terrasen would never consent to be joined to Adarlan in one kingdom.
8. Celaena has finally let go of Chaol. He was what she needed to come back after Endovier, but she is too morally ambiguous and wild for such a straightforward guy.
9. Sarah J Maas has cited Katniss' reaction to Prim's death as inspiration for Celaena's reaction to Nehemia's. I honestly can't think of anything else to write because you all have written it down for me! I thought I was alone in this ship. When I told my only other friend who has read the series about it, she pushed the thought down and claimed Rowaelin was only Platonic. I do feel that (no matter how hard I ship these two) their relationship will only remain platonic (at least for book four). I think that what has happened between Rowan and Celaena is as far as things will go for a while. After all, Celaena is going to Rifthold to clear things up. They will be apart for a long time and things could really change (possibly new love interests?).
Just watch, Maas will bring in some new character just like she did for Dorian with Sorscha.
Yes yes! Lizzy yes!!! I think Rowan is just perfect for her... Too much hints of a kind of romance just to be a friendship. And.. Just I have to add 2 things! 1. The love is born from the admiration. You need to admire your couple in order to keep in loved with him/her. (Is more than obvious the way she've always admire rowan... Even if she wan't able to admit it)
2. The strongest romance relationships are formed step by step... Little by little just to ensure that every part of each person fits perfectly with the other one. (Let's hope for this. Anyway... Book 3 was just the start)

I'll cry forever if it's not. You think I'm kidding, I'm so invested in this ship it's not even freaking funny you guys. I think a little piece of my soul would shrivel up and die if it didn't happen. (Wow that was kinda dramatic but also sadly accurate lol oh well. I think it's gonna happen as well but to be honest, when Aelin and chaol were together I was happy as heck and was devastated when they, well, broke up, but now I am even happier that she might be with Rowan

Rowan might be territorial, but his thing with Celaena is completely platonic, at least for now. I didn't get the vibes that he is interested in her romantically for him to be super jealous or anything like that.
