Welcome to the Kindle Lending Center! Many Amazon books are available for a one-time loan so if you are looking for a book title to borrow, rather than buy, you’ve come to the right place.

First, check on Amazon to be sure the book is listed there. If it’s not listed with Amazon, it’s not lendable. Also, books from Carina Press and Siren Publishing and any of the publishers under the Penguin Group umbrella are not lending enabled. If you are unsure, just open the book’s page on Amazon and scroll down the page. Among the book’s statistics, you’ll be able to see whether or not it’s lendable.

----->*****Offering a copy of a book you've purchased elsewhere is considered piracy and directly affects an author's income. It's unethical and is not authorized here at all. ******<-----

Please note: To keep this thread as concise as possible, I'll be deleting conversation posts and filled requests.

Any time you have a suggestion for our Kindle Lending Center, or if you need help figuring out how to do something, I’m always happy to help. Just send me a PM and I’ll “talk” you through it.

Borrower’s Responsibilities:

List no more than 2 or 3 books in your request post. You may make multiple posts if you have more than 2 books to borrow.

If you can list each book on its own line, it will make my job easier. For example:
Draw
Forever Home

Do not include your email address. Posts with an email address will be deleted. Why?(view spoiler)

Do not use the bookcover option when requesting a book. Use the book title option.
Why? (view spoiler)

Check back here frequently to see if an offer has been made.

Acknowledge that you have received the book. The best way to do this is to edit your original post by using the strikethrough feature or by simply adding text to the post to tell me and other lenders that you have already received the book. Please do not delete your own postotherwise I will not know what to delete from the summary post.

Lenders display an act of kindness by lending. Borrowers can display their act of kindness by letting us all know which books are no longer needed.

Lender’s Responsibilities:

Please double-check the summary list before you make your offer to a borrower. Check the summary to see if someone else has previously requested that same title, and if so, make the offer to the earliest borrower. Also, check to see if the book’s title is appearing on the summary list under the date of the post you are looking at. Some borrowers fail to update their original posts but if I know someone has received their book, I delete the title from the summary.

Please try to make your offer as a “reply” to the borrower’s request post. If you can’t find the original request post and only see the title on the summary list, feel free to PM me so that I can verify whether or not the borrower still needs the book.

You do not have to let me know when the book has been sent, but if you will kindly do that, I would greatly appreciate it. Just update your reply post with the words “book sent” or “sent”.

Remember to pace your requests so you don't overextend yourself with a flood of loaned books. Books are available to lend only once, so it would be a shame to borrow a book and not be able to read it before the loan time expires (one to two weeks).

There is a bit of extra wiggle room if you don't accept the book until the end of the offer period (one week), but then the lender would be without their book for up to 21 days.

Helpful Hint for finding a book on someone's Kindle lendable shelf:

1. Search for your book in the search bar at the top of the page.
2. Go to that book’s page.
3. On the right, under Genres, click on the ‘see top shelves…’ link.
4. Here, you’ll be able to find people who have that book shelved on lendable shelves and will be able to see who has them available to lend.

Not everyone names their shelves kindle lendable. I've seen everything from lendable - kindle to just plain lendable. But when you find a shelf that might match, click on the small print to the right of the shelf name that says one person, two persons, etc. and you'll see who has that book on that shelf. Send them a PM and who knows? You might get your book.
