JoAnne, I really liked the Hobbit and The Secret Garden. Apparently The Secret Garden is quite well-known in US, but I hadn't read it (the Netherlands). Such a charming story, great for kids! The Hobbit was also great, really enjoyed reading it (enjoyed it more than The Fellowship of the Ring).
The Secret Garden is a beloved children's book! It's been made into movies several times too. I loved it as a child.
Are you in the Precinct 81 group? Hercule Poirot's Christmas is a December book there.
