What are you reading?
I just finished Deadly Desire and I am getting ready to start The Moor, which is the fourth book in the Mary Russell/Sherlock Holmes series by Laurie King...GREAT series!
Lyn M wrote: "Mine, too, Kathy. They were great! I hope she writes more."I read on her site that she is working on a third, but I can't find out any other information about it. I so want to read it!
Lyn M and Kathy, I was very pleased with Belong to Meand I will p/u Love Walked Inthis week. I hope she does come out with a third book, I am sure it will be a great read as well.Belong to Mewas just such a great surprise b/c I went into it with very few expectations, I just wanted a little break from all the historical fiction I have been reading and it turned out to be such a GREAT story and I found so much truth in what was said throughout the book. I found myself relating to all of the characters in some way either through something they said or something they did (yes, even Piper) which was interesting.
That's good to know because i have brought that book not too long ago. I think it was like $1.99 at B&N
Kathy, let me know if you here anything else about a third book. Anna - I'm glad you liked it.
Donna - it is really good!!
I finished The Moor earlier tonight and I just started Tears of Pearl: A Novel of Suspense, which is the fourth book in the Lady Emily series (historical fiction suspense) by Tasha Alexander.
Today I am about to start Skulduggery Pleasant: Dark Days - Derek Landy and I am also listening to The Power of Five:- Raven's Gate - Anthony Horowitz
I just finished Tears of Pearl: A Novel of Suspense and I am getting ready to start Ken Follett's new historical fiction epic Fall of Giants. I am off to read...YEAH!
I finished Murder on Marble Row and I am currently reading Deadly Caress, which is the fifth book in the Franchesca Cahill series by Brenda Joyce. The books are set in NYC in 1902 and revolve around a socialite who goes against "the rules" and helps to solve murders and who becomes involved with the police commissioner.
I just finished Elizabeth & Leicester: Power, Passion, Politics by Sarah Gristwood, a non-fiction about Elizabeth I & Robert Dudley. It was a great non-fiction read and I'd highly recommend it to anyone interested in the time and especially 'the couple'. Also finished up the Fables graphic novel series (1st Book - Fables: Legends in Exile) by Bill Willingham and read the first three of his spin-off series, Jack of Fables (1st book - Jack of Fables, Volume 1: The (Nearly) Great Escape). I'd also recommend this series. It's all of our favorite fairytale characters in one place, living in modern-day New York. Love it :)
And finally, just started The Gargoyle by Andrew Davidson. So far, so good.
I am currently reading The Tenth Gift, which has the potential to be really good, I just cannot sit still long enough to get really into it. I don't know what is going on with me today...must be the gorgeous fall weather (FINALLY) that we are having here in N.C. Oh well, let's just blame it on that!
I finished The Tenth Gift and I started The Face of a Stranger, which is the first book in the William Monk series by Anne Perry. It is a historical fiction murder/mystery series set in Victorian Era London, with Monk as a detective/inspector.
I finished The Face of a Stranger and The Secret yesterday...I did A LOT of reading, the hubby is out of town and I just could not put the books down! Anyway, I am currently reading Messenger of Truth, which is the fourth book in the Maisie Dobbs series by Jacqueline Winspear. It is a great Historical Fiction series, set during WWI and WWII in London, with Maisie as an investigator/psychologist.
I'm reading Fingersmith and listening to The Little Giant of Aberdeen County on audio. I plan to start The Physick Book of Deliverance Dane sometime this week.
I guess I can count my thesis books:

I am currently reading Prayers for Sale, which is turning out to be a good little read!
I finished Prayers for Sale and Garden Spells, both were great easy reads that had a good meaning. I am getting ready to start Silent in the Grave, which is the first book in the Lady Julia (historical fiction mystery) series by Deanna Raybourn.
Finished Housewife In Trouble - Alison Penton Harper. Will now read The Jester - James Patterson & Andrew Gross.

All Clear
This book is part two of the story, which began in Blackout by Connie Willis and came out last February. It involves her time-traveling historians, whom I absolutely love.

I'm about half-way done with

Not sure I am in mood for The Book of Lies - Brad Meltzer, but am reading Broken - Karin Slaughter
I just finished Silent in the Sanctuary and I am getting ready to start Lady in Waiting, which sounds good, so I am excited to start it!
Finally finished up on The Lotus Eaters and now finishing up on The Forgotten Garden and then off to read Little Bee. So that would cover the rest of Oct and Nov.

Thanks, Anna.
No problem Kathy, any time I can recommend a historical fiction murder/mystery/suspense series, I do so, especially ones that I really like!
I finished Lady in Waiting and I am now on to New Mercies by Sandra Dallas, which I can already tell I am going to like. It is h.fiction set in the south with a mystery involved...right up my alley!
I am just starting Truth by Peter Temple. I read The Broken Shore: A Novel by him and it was really good. I hope this one is too.

Actually,I just ordered some more Victoria Holt books.
I really enjoyed Belong to Me, it took me by surprise b/c I tend to only read Historical Fiction and not current "tear jerkers", but I really enjoyed the different characters and story lines in Belong to Me and to be honest,I did cry at a few parts and it felt good to cry at a good book!
