Putin v. the People: The Perilous Politics of a Divided Russia by Samuel A. Greene - also provides deeper info about the Crimean annexation and "prisoner of conscience" Alexei Navalny My review - www.Goodreads.com/review/show/4168160681
Slow Horses by Mick Herron - the first in the Slough House spook series and a dark horse thrillerMy review - www.Goodreads.com/review/show/4012535411
Empire of Pain: The Secret History of the Sackler Dynasty by Patrick Radden Keefe. I'm only moderately interested in the opioid crisis. I read this because I had really enjoyed his Say Nothing: A True Story of Murder and Memory in Northern Ireland. And Keefe once again delivered a story about crimes that go unpunished and the background history which enabled that.

The Chaos Kind by Barry Eisler
This combines characters from his two other most popular series. As this is the first thing I've read from this author, I can easily report that it works fine as a standalone. Spies on spies action.

The last book I read was The Hollow Places. I was at my friend's house and I asked her to recommend a book that would creep me out - she delivered. She recommended The Hollow Places and it did just that. I really enjoyed the writing style. It felt as if I was reading a conversation in between my friends. There are parts in which I laughed out loud but then right around the corner something would happen that would remind me that I'm not reading a light hearted book...
The Catch by Mick Herron
This is a novella featuring John Bachelor. While set in the same milieu as Herron's Slough House series, this story runs independently of it and can be read as a standalone.

After a long hiatus, Ilona Andrews have returned to their Kinsnen series with this novella -
Fated BladesI haven't read the preceding installments which were really just short stories. There's plenty of world-building here with a Sci-fi setting instead of their usual UF.
