Amanda (zmobie) | 78 comments I'm going to sneak in here, if that's okay. Figure you're all done reserving posts. If not, I can come back later. ;)

Hi everyone! I'm Amanda, and this is my first ever Tower Teams challenge.

I'm 33, married, and mom to three dogs (Goldi, Laya, and Mickey) and two cats (Seamus McFuzzy and Finnegan)...though don't forget the rat, turtle, and rabbits! We definitely have an animal friendly house. :)

Should we do any getting to know you questions? Maybe what kinds of books everyone likes to read, that sort of thing? Might be nice.

I myself read pretty much anything. But my favorite genres are YA/Fantasy/Romance. Almost started a couple of longer books and stopped myself so I could use them for this!

Has anybody planned what they're going to read? Or is everyone just winging it?

message 12: by Elena (new)

Elena | 1403 comments Hi Amanda! And hello everyone!

Yes, all done with the reservations, I'm sorry if it got a little confusing. :) Hopefully the rest of the team will check in soon!

Love the animal friendly talk!! I love your pets' names, especially Seamus McFuzzy :)). My husband and I have two bassets and three cats in our house and an empty (for now) fish tank. No human kids but furry ones surely can be a handful!

It's my second Tower Teams and I've participated in other team challenges here on GR. This one is pretty non-restrictive, I hope you like it, Amanda!

I read most genres as well - sci fi, fantasy and mystery/crime being among favourite ones. But will try just about anything for a specific challenge task, I guess I'm a little addicted :)

I have a few books I'd like to get to this year for other challenges, some of them chunksters. Probably won't be a bad idea to list them, that I way I'll commit and have less reason to chicken out of reading those :D

message 13: by Amanda (new)

Amanda (zmobie) | 78 comments Hi Elena!

Sadly, I can't take credit for any of the dog and cat names because they all came with their names (since we adopted them), except Finnegan. He is our newest, and we renamed him...but his old name was Vinnie...so it's kind of similar. And he's already learned his new name. But yes, animals are all we have right now, too. No babies yet, though we do want to add to this zoo. :P

I will have to plan some more and list those books, as well. If I don't, I'm likely to forget which ones I had wanted to read. I have a toooon of books on my Kindle and iPad, and even more sitting on my bookshelf from a book sale at the library. So lots of stuff to choose from. I never know what I want to read, so I never start some of the ones I've had for years and then I forget about them. Hopefully this challenge will help me get through some of those.

message 14: by Anna Serene (last edited Apr 28, 2017 08:40PM) (new)

Anna Serene (anna_serene) HI! I'm Anna, I'm 22 with 2 furry children of my own: an Australian Shepherd named Maia and a ferocious black dragon cat named Ziva. My favorite genres are Paranormal Fantasy, Romance, Historical Fiction, and Sci-Fi.
I have no real plans for what books I'm going to read, just sort of bull through everything I'm in the mood for :)

1. What are your favorite book genres to read? What do you least like to read?
Paranormal Fantasy (Urban Fantasy, PNR, and regular), Romance, Historical Fiction, Sci-Fi
2. What are 5 of your favorite books?
Ender's Game (Ender's Saga, #1) by Orson Scott Card Speaker for the Dead (Ender's Saga, #2) by Orson Scott Card Dune by Frank Herbert The Lord of the Rings (The Lord of the Rings, #1-3) by J.R.R. Tolkien Magic Breaks (Kate Daniels, #7) by Ilona Andrews
3. What was your favorite book as a child?
Ender's Game (Ender's Saga, #1) by Orson Scott Card
4. What's your favorite kind of reading challenge?
Things like this one :)
5. Favorite color?
Blue?
6. You can only have one dessert for the rest of your life. What is it?
Brownies. No hesitation whatsoever ;)
7. What are your favorite TV shows?
Game of Thrones, 30 Rock, Veep!, and currently Attack on Titan. (SOMEONE FANGIRL WITH ME PLEASE!)
8. What's your preference: ebook or hardback/paperback?
Paperback, but I agree with Raine about kindles–plus with the sheer number of books I read it's just so much more cost-effective to use ebooks.
9. Do you have any specific goal(s) for this challenge?
WIN WIN WIN
10. You are given a chance to tell one distinguishing fact about yourself. What is it?
I also hate mouth noises... chewing noises give me the same reaction as nails on a chalkboard. It's basically horrendous. But since I'm no longer special... (thanks Twist 😒 ) ummmm.... I'm super neurotic about compliments. If someone gives me a compliment, I take it in a way that twists it to mean I was doing something wrong before. Like "You're writing has really improved!"="Wow all of your writing before was absolute trash!" in Anna Logic. It's effed up.

message 15: by Ashley (last edited Apr 27, 2017 07:02PM) (new)

Ashley (xanthax) | 525 comments Hi everyone! I'm Ashley, I'm 17 and I have 1 black lab mix who is about 2 and a half years old named Wrex (I'll be sad to leave him for university next school year). I live in Southern Ontario. I've participated in the last Tower Teams which had tasks, but I needed a nice relaxed challenges going into a busier work/school schedule, so this is a great one to play.

I don't have a very strict TBR. I do have a list of things I want to read by month, but I alter it to fit whatever challenges I'm playing. My favourite genres would have to be fantasy/high fantasy (preferably with a bit of romance), some sci-fi, and most romance. I'm usually open to any genre though, but I don't read much non-fiction aside from the occasional biography of someone I like.

message 16: by Christine (new)

Christine (clarkepopunta) | 122 comments Hey guys. I'm Christine from South Carolina. I am pretty stoked for this challenge. I don't really like to do intros so I gathered some questions from another thread:

1. What are your favorite book genres to read? What do you least like to read?

2. What are 5 of your favorite books?

3. What was your favorite book as a child?

4. What's your favorite kind of reading challenge?

5. Favorite color?

6. You can only have one dessert for the rest of your life. What is it?

7. What are your favorite TV shows?

8. What's your preference: ebook or hardback/paperback?

9. Do you have any specific goal(s) for this challenge?

10. You are given a chance to tell one distinguishing fact about yourself. What is it?

message 17: by Amanda (new)

Amanda (zmobie) | 78 comments Hi Anna, Ashley, and Christine!

Aww, all the fur babies! My babies Goldi and Laya are Lab/Shepherd mixes and Mickey is a Boston Terrier. All three of them are 6.

Anna, my in-laws used to have an Australian Shepherd named Mason. They are such good dogs!

I live in Michigan.

And I might fill out some of those questions. :P

message 18: by Christine (new)

Christine (clarkepopunta) | 122 comments 1. What are your favorite book genres to read? What do you least like to read?
I try to read cyclically through genres. But looking through my shelves I see fantasy/magic is my favorite. What makes me love a book despite the substance is the writing style. I could read a book about toenails if the author is talented enough. The corollary is also true. My least favorite books are by asshole writers who don't take the time to edit or who write like third graders.

2. What are 5 of your favorite books?
Lirael (Abhorsen, #2) by Garth Nix We by Yevgeny Zamyatin Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets (Harry Potter, #2) by J.K. Rowling Geek Love by Katherine Dunn Satan Burger by Carlton Mellick III
Lirael by Garth Nix
We by Yevgeny Zamyatin
Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets by J.K. Rowling (and all the other 6 too)
Geek Love by Katherine Dunn
Satan Burger by Carlton Mellick III
I've reread all of these many times. I can only definitively say that Lirael is my true favorite book.

3. What was your favorite book as a child?
I stalked the library shelves for the American Girls and the Babysitters Club series. I remember when I was really young I loved Mrs. Piggle-Wiggle. In fifth grade, my teacher read Lloyd Alexander to us, and I loved that. And then Harry Potter happened.

4. What's your favorite kind of reading challenge?
ALL OF THEM

5. Favorite color?
Green. Probably a grey-green.

6. You can only have one dessert for the rest of your life. What is it?
Rice pudding.

7. What are your favorite TV shows?
I don't watch TV. But I enjoyed the episodes of Black Mirror that I've seen. O. And Game of Thrones. I have a dance routine that goes with the intro.

8. What's your preference: ebook or hardback/paperback?
Not e-book. I break technology. And I love seeing the structure of a book and thinking about the decisions the publishers/author made. Also, how can you build a tower with e-books?

9. Do you have any specific goal(s) for this challenge?
Well I have been meaning to read that Moscow Gentleman book, so that's on the list. I was thinking I'd read my heftier tomes because they're worth more. I also would like our team to win.

10. You are given a chance to tell one distinguishing fact about yourself. What is it?
I am a proud carnivore, but one of my greatest pleasures is cooking vegan food and making it taste awesome. And then I eat a rare burger. What up?

Amanda (zmobie) | 78 comments Christine wrote: "9. Do you have any specific goal(s) for this challenge?

Best answer. XD

Okay, I guess I'll fill this thing out.

1. What are your favorite book genres to read? What do you least like to read?
I already answered this, but I most enjoy YA/Fantasy/Romance. But it really depends on what it is! I least like non-fiction. I'll read it sometimes, but meh.

2. What are 5 of your favorite books?
Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince (Harry Potter, #6) by J.K. Rowling How to Save a Life by Emma Scott Incubus Dreams (Anita Blake, Vampire Hunter, #12) by Laurell K. Hamilton Hopeless (Hopeless, #1) by Colleen Hoover Maybe Someday (Maybe, #1) by Colleen Hoover
Okay, that was entirely too hard. I love too many books, so it was really hard to break down.

3. What was your favorite book as a child?
The Goosebumps and Fear Street books!

4. What's your favorite kind of reading challenge?
Word Hunts! But a large variety of challenges.

5. Favorite color?
Orange! And pink and purple.

6. You can only have one dessert for the rest of your life. What is it?
Umm, ice cream...or cheesecake.

7. What are your favorite TV shows?
Supernatural, Doctor Who, Game of Thrones, Buffy the Vampire Slayer

8. What's your preference: ebook or hardback/paperback?
This is a tough one. I really love my ebooks, but there's just something about having a physical book in your hands.

9. Do you have any specific goal(s) for this challenge?
To reeeeeaaaad. And read some more.

10. You are given a chance to tell one distinguishing fact about yourself. What is it?
I have no sense of smell. Which is really strange, because I love those warmers with the scented wax...but I can't smell the smells! Except occasionally...but really, not often.

I know! I feel bad I left out Brandon Mull and Anne McCaffrey (edit: I can't believe I spelled her name wrong. I mispronounce it all the time!)

Lory | 629 comments Hi Everyone,
My name is Lory and I'm 30 years old from Wisconsin, with two orange cats. Just wanted to check in real quick!

message 23: by Raine (last edited Apr 28, 2017 10:32AM) (new)

Raine (raine_renner) | 304 comments Hi! I''m Raine and I'm checking in from Chicago! I have a husband and 2 girls. I also have two very large New Foundland dogs named Beast and Storm (after the X-Men). Beast has the super power of hurling drool 20 feet away when he shakes his head and Storm has the power to snore so loud my family has to turn up the volume on the TV to drown it.

1. What are your favorite book genres to read? What do you least like to read?
I pretty much read any genre of romance books, but the smuttier the better. I prefer funny and witty books with sexy alpha heroes and strong feisty heroines and they ABSOLUTELY have to have an HEA!

My least favorite books to read are dark books, books with too much drama and angst, and books that are serials where you get the first 1/4 of the book for free and for the next 3 books they charge $2.99 so you end up spending almost $9 when the entire story was only worth $.99 and the page totals to only 150.

2. What are 5 of your favorite books?
Rock Chick Regret (Rock Chick, #7) by Kristen Ashley Rock Chick Regret by Kristen Ashley
Games of the Heart (The 'Burg, #4) by Kristen Ashley Games of the Heart by Kristen Ashley
Until Nico (Until, #4) by Aurora Rose Reynolds Until Nico by Aurora Rose Reynolds
Tangled (Tangled, #1) by Emma Chase Tangled by Emma Chase
Seduction and Snacks (Chocolate Lovers, #1) by Tara Sivec Seduction and Snacks by Tara Sivec

3. What was your favorite book as a child?
The Lion the Witch and the Wardrobe series

4. What's your favorite kind of reading challenge?
Tower Teams challenge!!! Longer group challenges that take 6-12 months to complete.

5. Favorite color?
Purple

6. You can only have one dessert for the rest of your life. What is it?
Creme Brulee or Tiramisu? Creme Brulee or Tiramisu? Creme Brulee or Tiramisu? I CAN'T DECIDE!!!

7. What are your favorite TV shows?
I have given up TV to read...

8. What's your preference: ebook or hardback/paperback?
ebook...I'm in a relationship with my Kindle, plus I no longer get strange looks from people on the train when I head to work because I'm reading a book where the heroine's clothes are torn off her body and the hero is kissing her neck and is shirtless with muscles and tattoos.

9. Do you have any specific goal(s) for this challenge?
I'd like to keep my target of 600 books this year, though I'd like to push for 700 like last year. I knew going in that it would be a busy year for me at work so I had to lower my reading goal from last year. I've also been in a book slump and haven't been motivated to look for good books to read. I need to get motivated to find my next new favorite authors and I think this challenge will help with that.

10. You are given a chance to tell one distinguishing fact about yourself. What is it?
I'm kinda ADHD about how I read books. I sometimes will have a list of books that I want to read for the next week or month but then after I read the first book and if I like it I will look for books by that author or read the rest of the series and then I will read books by similar authors. Or, if I don't like it I will look for another book and by the end of the month I haven't finished my list and have read a completely different genre than when I got started.

O my God Raine you are hilarious. First of all I am impressed by your pets super powers. My dog Blake was part of rescue litter named after country singers (Reba, Willie, Blake Shelton, etc), and I have to say he loves singing but he sure as heck can't carry a tune.

And you have now provided the most legit reason ever for using a Kindle in public. I read Ass Goblins of Auschwitz recently, and it was kind of a struggle.

Elena | 1403 comments Hello Anna, Ashley, Christine, Twist, Teresa, Lory and Raine!

I'm really enjoying reading about everyone's books and pets, thank you so much for sharing! I'll be posting my answers next.

Raine wrote: "Beast has the super power of hurling drool 20 feet away when he shakes his head ..."

OMG, this is so familiar! :) Jake, one of our bassets, is the King of Drool despite being really short, nothing is safe from drowning when he's shaking his head.

And if I may enter the doggy talent show with my other one - MJ - who does a hilarious Chewbacca impersonation when she's hungry. Hopefully someday we'll catch it in time to record and share :)

message 26: by Elena (new)

Elena | 1403 comments 1. What are your favorite book genres to read? What do you least like to read? Speculative fiction, mystery/crime, YA, contemporary general fiction, fantasy are my faves. Genre I read the least of is romance, but like it as a subgenre in fantasy and YA reads. I also don't read a whole lot of non-fiction, but not because I don't want to, mostly because I'm intimidated by it :)

2. What are 5 of your favorite books? I always feel like my favourite books are so cliche! lol And listing them reminds me that there's still so many great books I haven't read yet.
Cat's Cradle by Kurt Vonnegut The Count of Monte Cristo by Alexandre Dumas The Drawing of the Three (The Dark Tower, #2) by Stephen King Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince (Harry Potter, #6) by J.K. Rowling Howl's Moving Castle (Howl's Moving Castle #1) by Diana Wynne Jones

Impossible task! :) And of course with Harry Potter it's the whole series and The Count of Monte Cristo was my favourite during adolescence but haven't reread it since.

3. What was your favorite book as a child? Hmmm, probably The Hobbit.

4. What's your favorite kind of reading challenge? Of the ones I've been in, WOBBLE was pretty great - a bunch of favourite things rolled up into one.

5. Favorite color? Probably yellow. To look at, not so much to wear :)

6. You can only have one dessert for the rest of your life. What is it? Cheesecake I think. Or ice cream (coffee flavoured ... or green tea ... Argh! I can't!)

7. What are your favorite TV shows? In no particular order - Battlestar Galactica (newer one), Star Trek TOS, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, The Walking Dead, shows set in Marvel Universe including ones by Netflix. Have been really getting into Netflix originals lately, plenty of good ones there.

8. What's your preference: ebook or hardback/paperback? Ebook if I have to choose, I'm much more productive, don't depend on light, can take tons of books with me at once. But also nothing compares to pulling a real book off the shelf, leafing through it and fighting not to drop whatever I was doing to start reading it then and there :).

9. Do you have any specific goal(s) for this challenge? I'd like to catch up on books published in the recent years and also read a few classic Sci Fi books for another challenge.

10. You are given a chance to tell one distinguishing fact about yourself. What is it? I can't take a decent selfie to save my life! I tried a few times and even practiced (in the bathroom of course!) but it got kinda embarrassing really fast so I'm not even trying anymore. :)

message 27: by Lory (new)

Lory | 629 comments 1. What are your favorite book genres to read? What do you least like to read?
I enjoy Fantasy, Mystery, chick lit, and Y/A. Basically anything that isn't horror, although suspense can be good.

2. What are 5 of your favorite books?
Geez only 5 books, couldn't do it, but here's some highlights!
Harry Potter has to be on there
Ella Enchanted
The first 10 Stephanie Plum books
Persuasion
Tamora Pierce or Sharon Shinn books

3. What was your favorite book as a child?
The Circle of Magic books by Tamora Pierce

4. What's your favorite kind of reading challenge?
I like the ones where we have more restrictions. Where you have to read a book that takes place in a certain era or with a certain color on it. It makes me stretch out of my comfort zone and find some unique books.

5. Favorite color?
Red

6. You can only have one dessert for the rest of your life. What is it?
One specific Tiramisu from a bakery in Bloomington, IN. Love It!

7. What are your favorite TV shows?
Friends, Psych, Coulping, British Panel shows
Currently, I am loving iZombie

8. What's your preference: ebook or hardback/paperback?
I prefer paperback but read more ebooks. I travel for work a lot and it is much easier to bring 5 books with me via my phone or tablet. Also, instant rentals from the library help.

9. Do you have any specific goal(s) for this challenge?
Just to keep myself reading more. I tend to slack off a bit and I like the motivation a team challenge has.

Christine (clarkepopunta) | 122 comments Let's have some group identity discussion, shall we?

Which Luke are you? The one giving into fear and the dark side of the force in Dagobah during his Jedi training? Or are you Luke, the Jedi Master and champion of the light side of the force?

Or maybe you swing both ways with the force, feeling kind of like when you thought your sister was hot? (No judgment).

Christine (clarkepopunta) | 122 comments Great. I kinda had a feeling it'd end up this way. I always liked Han's scrappiness better than Luke's "Gee Willikers!" attitude.

You got: 50% Light Side
You’re an even split between Light and Dark. You have the potential to be a great source of power for either side, and see the inherent value in both. Which way you lean is entirely in your power, though you often feel pulled equally in both directions.

message 30: by Teresa (new)

Teresa (teresainohio) I have NEVER seen a star wars movie, I live with a die hard star wars fan, I just dont get it. LOL

so I took the quiz and got this

You got: 95% Dark Side
You're a tried and true member of the dark side. You're a true Sith and have the power and drive to achieve any goal you set your mind to. You thrive in high-stress situations, and you value success above all else. You do believe in a greater good — that just doesn't involve getting caught up in anyone else's idea of morality.

message 31: by Lory (new)

Lory | 629 comments Lol, Not sure if this is me. My lofty goals include reading a good book and exploring different cultures...ambitious!

I got 25% Light Side
You're much more allied with the Dark Side than the Light. You value occasional peace and serenity, but that's not a full-time lifestyle in your book. You believe that patience can be a virtue, its just not a virtue you're interested in possessing -- you'd rather dedicate yourself to achieving your own lofty goals

message 32: by Christine (new)

Christine (clarkepopunta) | 122 comments I don't know about y'all, but our library has a horrible selection of audiobooks. I've just heard good things about audiobooksync.com (on another TT thread) which uses the app Overdrive. The website releases 2 new audiobooks per week for download. I just got The Picture of Dorian Gray to start the challenge off. I wanted to pass the knowledge off, in case you're interested in stocking your "walking books" shelf :D

message 33: by Amanda (new)

Amanda (zmobie) | 78 comments Hi Twist, Teresa, Lory, and Raine!

So, I haven't watched any of the new Star Wars. I watched the original three lots, but not many of the newer ones. Looks like I'm going to have to watch them soon. That's the plan, anyway. :)

Lory, I got the same answer as you for that quiz. 25% Light Side. Hrm...interesting.

I'm not big on audio books. I've listened to a few, but I get a...disconnect from the story. I don't feel closely connected to the characters, or the story itself, and it makes me like the book less than when I actually read what's going on. That being said, my library has a ton of audio books, including the ones through Hoopla, which is where I borrow a lot of my books. They seem to have more audio than ebook through there, which is pretty disappointing sometimes.

Well you can't argue with that can you!

Who's your favorite music artist?
What's your favorite music genre?

message 35: by Christine (new)

Christine (clarkepopunta) | 122 comments Same. I take it all. If I had to listen to one artist for the rest of my life...either Tom Petty or Wilco because both make me happy. But I love rap (especially Southern rap), alt country, 90s/2000s pop, that NPR show Echoes, hard rock (SOAD, Lincoln Park, Muse), rock (Pink Floyd, Beatles, Jeff Buckley. Beck), mexican music and classical (esp. piano compositions). Music I don't like...maybe hippie/free love music. Damn dirty hippies. But I like Grateful dead...o so hard. :P

Elena | 1403 comments Teresa in Ohio wrote: "never did a team challenge before, so how does this chalenge work ?"

Teresa, for Tower Teams all you have to do is read! Whatever you want, as much or as little, as quickly or as slowly as you like. There are a few restrictions - books must be over 100 pages long (or over 25K words for children books), no graphic novels and only books started after the challenge begins can count (with the exception of The Circle due to the scheduled BOM discussion).
More on the rules and such here.

COUNTDOWN to the start of the challenge

Also, everyone, if you haven't yet, please create a separate shelf for the challenge and post a link here when you can. Thank you!

Vikki (silverstarz) | 1289 comments Sorry I'm a bit late on checking in!

Quick intro, I'll come back and do those questions later.

I'm Vikki, 30 from Northern Ireland. In a relationship. I'm another animal lover - I've 2 dogs (and I've kinda adopted my boyfriend's 2 as well!) - mine are an Alaskan Malamute and Siberian Husky. I also sponsor a dog through a UK charity.

I've been a bookworm for as long as I can remember. My favourite genre is crime/thriller. But I also enjoy chick lit, paranormal/fantasy, historical fiction (mainly Tudor period) and classics. Unsurprisingly I have a soft spot for animal books too.

This is either my 4th or 5th Tower Team challenge

I've never seen a Star Wars film either, but my boyfriend is a big fan. So how long I'll continue without seeing any of the films remains to be seen. LOL. If he has his way I'll be introduced to them at some point.

Raine (raine_renner) | 304 comments My bookshelf is NBRC Tower Teams 5

HELLO EVERYONE!!! ***waves***

There was a discussion earlier about audiobooks vs paperback/ebooks. I don't usually do audiobooks as I read faster than I listen even if I change it to 2x the speed and then the narrator just sounds all squeaky and the narration has totally lost its usefulness. I did try audiobooks for my last two books I just read and it took me almost 2 days to finish. So for TT5 I'll probably be reading all my books via Kindle since it's faster.

Also, I'm not too chatty on these threads so don't be surprised if you don't see me chatting as often. I'll check in a few times a week and you'll definitely see me reading (as work and family will allow).

Vikki (silverstarz) | 1289 comments 1. What are your favorite book genres to read? What do you least like to read?
Top of my list is crime/thriller. Including Nordic crime, I enjoy those books. But I also read chick lit, paranormal/fantasy, historical fiction (mostly set in the Tudor period) and I like classics e.g. Austen, Dickens, the Brontes.
I don't tend to read sci-fi or westerns

2. What are 5 of your favorite books?
No chance of me narrowing it down to 5! I'll go for authors...
Yrsa Sigurðardóttir
Alex Gray
Karen Rose
Chris Carter
Tania Carver

3. What was your favorite book as a child?
I loved Enid Blyton books & read them a LOT

4. What's your favorite kind of reading challenge?
I've always enjoyed these ones, and the wheelathons. Oh and battleships!

5. Favorite color?
This is an easy one - blue! Closely followed by purple and black.

6. You can only have one dessert for the rest of your life. What is it?
So long as it includes chocolate I'll be happy

7. What are your favorite TV shows?
Criminal Minds. I loved all the CSI series' when they were on. I've recently started watching The Blacklist. Other favourites are The Vampire Diaries, Outlander, Game Of Thrones, Once Upon A Time...

8. What's your preference: ebook or hardback/paperback?
Paperback. I only gave in to getting a Kindle when I was going to America 2 years ago to save space & weight in my luggage. I prefer the look, smell and feel of a real book, and paperbacks are just a bit easier than hardback.

9. Do you have any specific goal(s) for this challenge?
Not really... just to enjoy it and read as much as possible!

10. You are given a chance to tell one distinguishing fact about yourself. What is it?
I've been in a pipe band since I was 9. Mainly as a drum major (th person who marches in front of the band) but also more recently as a piper. As an adult I've won prizes at all major championships. In 2015 I also travelled to compete in California which was one of the best experiences of my life. It takes up a lot of my free time, especially over the summer (May - August inclusive)

Amanda (zmobie) | 78 comments I just wanted to let you all know that I'm (hopefully) getting dental work done today (possibly getting wisdom teeth removed...at least one of them) and will most likely be out for a few days, depending on how I'm feeling. I'll check back in when I can, though!

Have you ever read The Queen of Subtleties: A Novel of Anne Boleyn by Suzannah Dunn? It got really poor reviews on GR, but I'm not finding it to be that bad...

Yes, I read it back in 2012. I gave it 3 stars. I did like it, but just not quite as much as some of the books I'd already given 4 stars to. The book of hers that I enjoyed most was The Confession of Katherine Howard
