Great to hear you liked it, Lory! I haven't got too far with it but savoured every bit that I did read so far.

I think it's really thoughtful. Is your mom a reader too, Ashley?

I was wondering earlier today if Mother's Day in Canada is the same as US; well, that answers it :)

Ashley, I really think it depends on the person, but it's not silly at all! I love a good pair of socks.

Elena wrote: "I'm not familiar with quilting but do some needlework occasionally and I used to hate the "getting materials and organizing" part but came to really really like it :). Good luck and a ton of inspiration for your project!!"

I just started quilting a few months ago, so it's all still new to me. But I'm loving it! I just wish it wasn't so expensive. :P Buying all the supplies is worse than books!

message 154: by Ashley (new)

Ashley (xanthax) | 525 comments Thanks for your input, everyone!! I ended up buying them and giving them to her already (since I got the flowers today) and she loved them! She's actually wearing them right now, haha.

Elena, my mom is a pretty big reader, but because of work she doesn't get to read as much anymore. She's actually part of the reason I've always been a reader. Both her and my grandma were always big readers and we'd often go to the library together growing up. I suppose it runs in the family ;)

message 155: by Amanda (new)

Amanda (zmobie) | 78 comments Ashley, my mom got me into reading, too. :)

So my dental work is happening on the 16th. I'm getting a wisdom tooth pulled. Finally. :) It's been broken for awhile, so lots of pain happening. Glad to be getting it out! But not sure how I'll feel afterwards. Going to try to line up a couple books, probably some easy going ones.

message 156: by Teresa (new)

Teresa (teresainohio) happy mothers day

Son got a french press ( some fancy coffee thing) I LOVE it

Daughter went to work with me last night and made pancakes today.

(Also I'm currently tipsy which makes me a major sharer)

Congratulations! That's awesome. :D

So, I'm feeling okay, just a bit of pain. Hopefully it doesn't get much worse. Of course, I can hardly eat any of the food we have in the house. :( Soft food diet, yay.

Just out of curiosity, should we be getting a replacement player since Koyla never checked in?

message 160: by Ashley (new)

Ashley (xanthax) | 525 comments We've let the mods know we don't have Koyla, but I don't believe any replacements have been done as of yet.

Okay! :) Like I said, I was just curious.

I have a friend that was just added to another team the other day, so it made me wonder. :)

Christine (clarkepopunta) | 122 comments Hey guys just checking in. I'm just pulling into Detroit and will be home tomorrow!! so I've only contributed three books, but I promise I'll be on my game soon. Take care, or ciao, or whatever.

I've been so slow, just finished my 1st book today. But it was a chunky one, just under 700 pages

message 165: by Ashley (new)

Ashley (xanthax) | 525 comments For some reason the spreadsheet exploded yesterday :( I was going to redo it today and if it didn't fix itself, tell the mods. It isn't adding to our total points, so I didn't find it too pressing.

Sorry about that lol!

thanks it is pretty cool seeing all the stats like that

message 168: by Vikki (new)

Vikki (silverstarz) | 1289 comments Yay, my book is showing up on the spreadsheet now. I checked a few times yesterday and it wasn't showing on it, even though it was on my shelf, the dates were right etc. At least it's ok now.

message 169: by Ashley (new)

Ashley (xanthax) | 525 comments The books don't get added to the spreadsheet unless either me or Elena run the script for it.

message 170: by Teresa (new)

Teresa (teresainohio) how is the week going for everyone???

school year almost over for the teenagers
. next week is finals and they are done.

still debating on job situation.

and reading 4 books. when a new release comes into library i tried to read asap because the hold list
is usually really long) and i hate waiting for my tirn.

message 171: by Elena (new)

Elena | 1403 comments Hi everyone! I'm here too :). Had a really long and busy week moving but we're all moved in now! Still a lot to unpack and arrange, hoping to be done with it by the end of the weekend.

Amanda, glad all went well! :)

Anna, congratulations and good luck!

message 172: by Ashley (last edited May 19, 2017 07:46AM) (new)

Ashley (xanthax) | 525 comments I told the mods and they weren't able to fix the book count, but it fixed they issue with the page itself pulling in books not on your shelf. Missing pages has nothing to do with your shelf or the book, usually kindle editions aren't pulled in by the script. It's missing pages because me or Elena haven't manually put in the page count yet. If you look at the page override tab on the spreadsheet, those are all the page counts we put in manually. I think we've both been pretty busy so we haven't been on the spreadsheet in a while. I can fix all the missing pages this weekend, I've just been busy with grad stuff this week. Not to worry :)

Christine (clarkepopunta) | 122 comments I'm glad it's hot here. I can sit inside, drink sweet tea and read!

message 174: by Anna Serene (new)

Anna Serene (anna_serene) Ok so I got Strange the Dreamer (Strange the Dreamer, #1) by Laini Taylor from the library today. I'm ready for the book of the month! :)

message 175: by Lory (new)

Lory | 629 comments What page number do we use for an audiobook again? i thought it was whatever is on the main page, but just wanted to double check.

Elena | 1403 comments Lory wrote: "What page number do we use for an audiobook again? i thought it was whatever is on the main page, but just wanted to double check."

Yup, default edition is the one used for audio page count :).

message 177: by Lory (new)

Lory | 629 comments Thanks Elena!

message 178: by Raine (new)

Raine (raine_renner) | 304 comments I'm just checking in since it has been a little while. I've been busy with work and my daughter just graduated so it's been a little crazy at our house. I've been reading, but haven't had a chance to add some books to GR or my TT5 shelf let alone post to our books read. Hopefully I can get everything done (or at least start getting caught up) by end of the week.

message 179: by Anna Serene (new)

Anna Serene (anna_serene) Lol what is going on with the tower team spreadsheet??? I know people read fast but I'm pretty sure they haven't reached points in the billions 😂

message 180: by Christine (new)

Christine (clarkepopunta) | 122 comments So here's a question: What other challenges are y'all doing?

message 181: by Elena (new)

Elena | 1403 comments lol Looks like a few teams have been having problems with the spreadsheets lately. Kelly is doing updates now, fingers crossed!

message 182: by Ashley (new)

Ashley (xanthax) | 525 comments The spreadsheets seem to have been acting up for the past week or so. Yesterday I tried running it twice and got two different error messages doing it.

message 183: by Teresa (new)

Teresa (teresainohio) so many challenges. i am in wacky challenges stress free challenges. readers romance challenge which all do monthly and wuatterly challenges. game night is all challenges based on games.

also doing one based on wizard of oz. travel agent and and abc

message 184: by Christine (new)

Christine (clarkepopunta) | 122 comments Goodness. That's what I needed to hear. Now I don't feel so bad. I try to just do two word searches , two spelling, and then yearly challenges.

O the Places will be the first kind of challenge with set time deadlines.

message 185: by Lory (new)

Lory | 629 comments I am not doing any other challenges, because I find team ones tend to motivate me more. I am currently reading approx. four books. Audiobooks for driving, some on my phone and a monster long book (800+ pages) when I feel the need to read something not as an ebook.

Glad to hear everyone is doing well!

message 186: by Elena (new)

Elena | 1403 comments I got one more team challenge coming up and I'm also doing a few personal ones including a couple I started years back and haven't completed yet. :)

Looks like spreadsheet is up and running again!

Teresa (teresainohio) Twist wrote: "I finally got my Challenges in one place. Now to do them and resist the lure of adding more. I kinda prefer the team ones, the ones where we have to interact with a MOD to go further, or ones that ..."

i actually decided to quit some. i need them to have deadlines.

i am mostly doing abc challenges monthly challenges seasonal challenges.

i kept two that are open ended travel agent and wizard of oz.

i love spell outs. sometimes they challenge me to really dig through the tbr list.

mu favorite at the moment is tbr scary challenge

How are BOM DQs? What do you do?

message 189: by Anna Serene (new)

Anna Serene (anna_serene) Christine wrote: "Anna Serene:

Well if you are writing them, you just read the chapters and come up with questions about them. You can go through past BOM threads to see. And if you're just participating you just answer the questions that someone has written.

Lory | 629 comments Hi All,

Just an update that I will be going to Asia tomorrow (AH!). I'll be there for just over a week. I am looking forward to some reading on the plane, but I probably won't have access to update here too often. I'll be reading though :)

message 191: by Anna Serene (new)

Anna Serene (anna_serene) Hey did we hear anything from the mods about replacing Koyla?

message 192: by Ashley (new)

Ashley (xanthax) | 525 comments Basically, since they are so short on replacements they can't do 1:1 replacements of missing players. Instead they're allocating replacements to those teams that need them, and since we're in the top of the scoreboard we aren't priority.

message 193: by Ashley (new)

Ashley (xanthax) | 525 comments Some people are missing pages because I updated the spreadsheet last night but didn't have time to input the missing page counts. The last day is July 29th.

message 194: by Christine (new)

Christine (clarkepopunta) | 122 comments Is anyone reading the Ash & Quill book? There are special point advantages....

Ask Rachel Caine a Question
30 points for participation (ONE question per team)

Ash & Quill Buddy Read
Same as BOMs. DQ spots are already taken, but you can still win participation points.

Read and Review:
Ink and Bone --> 10 points
Paper and Fire --> 20 points
Ash and Quill --> 30 points

I have the book and can do a D.E.A.R. if necessary lol.

message 195: by Christine (new)

Christine (clarkepopunta) | 122 comments I submitted questions for the Rachel Caine Q&A. And I'll start reading Ash & Quill tonight to answer the questions for points.

message 196: by Elena (new)

Elena | 1403 comments That's all, folks! :)

There's still time to post books finished before the deadline if you haven't yet, and we'll have a couple of days to finalize everything.

Thank you, ladies, it's been fun! You are an awesome bunch of readers!

message 197: by Ashley (new)
