Elise (erometsch) | 3 comments This is going to be terribly vague but I read this ghost book in elementary school and I cannot for the life of me remember what it was called.
I read it somewhere from 2006-2009 probably.
I only have vague memories of the plot but here goes:
There was at least one ghost.
There's like a ghost realm that's really desolate and eventually squanders the spirit of the ghost. The main ghost character goes here but manages to escape or come back.
It's set in an old farm house, or at least that's what I pictured when I read it. I think the story was tied to the house.
There's a historical aspect to it, there are flashbacks to I think the late 1800's or early 1900's. There's one part where the main ghost remembers being sick (which I think is what killed them) back in history and seeing their mother making soup with some kind of bone which I think they weren't supposed to see and felt somewhat betrayed when they saw it.

Sorry this is so vague, but it's really bothering me.

If you haven't read his "Silver" books, give them a look, they're weird and wonderful.

To be fair, looking at the description of the book, I got a lot of it wrong. I completely missed that the main character was alive and the mother was the antagonist, which are pretty key points. The one specific thing that stuck with me was the stupid bone because I remember being confused by it, and I saw someone comment on a recipe that they used chicken bones to make soup stock which was what reminded me of this book in the first place.
