MountainKat | 31597 comments Let's reflect on the best and worst of the previous month's books.....

I know I can get so focused on what is next that I forget about all the wonderful books I read for the previous month's challenges! So the calendar says spring is here, does your weather agree? Things are blooming here and allergies are running at full speed! What is your favorite part of spring? Do you do an egg hunt with your littles? It's a new time of year and a great time for reading - time to pull out the spring break books!

Did you find some gems last month? DNF a few? Find your new book boyfriend or a heroine who personifies TSTL? Come on, we all want to know! What were your standouts for March? Are you looking forward to anything special in April?

MountainKat | 31597 comments Wow, I had three books I gave 5 Stars too March! They hit the spot at the perfect time!

What it Takes by Shannon Stacey - LOVED getting so spend more time with the Kowalskis!!
Protecting His Own by Cherise Sinclair - Emotional, steamy read - can't go wrong there!
Practice Makes Perfect by Julie James - I love the way she writes! Even though the hero was a bit of a sexist jerk, I forgave him. =)

I had several 4+ Stars - Devil in Spring, Full Package and Rocky Mountain Devil were almost perfect for me! And quite a few 4 Stars too - Into the Fire and Indulgence in Death stand out among them!

If I were to pick the low spot of the month it would be a book I gave a low 4 Stars to - so that wasn't too bad! Overall a really good month for me!!

Chan | 5093 comments My March Reflection:

I read 8 books last month. 0 DNF's

Best book - rated 4 stars
Lord of Chance (Rogues to Riches, #1) by Erica Ridley

I didn't really have a worst book. The other 7 books were all rated 3 stars.

The cutest book I read
A Tale of Two Mommies by Vanita Oelschlager

The book that caused the most introspection
MRS by Noa Grey

Life is kinda hectic and serious right now, so for April I'm looking forward to lighthearted humorous reads.

MountainKat | 31597 comments I hope you find those lighthearted books Chan! I'm in the mood for that sort of thing too.

D.G. | 4477 comments March was a great month for me! I can't remember the last time I read so many 4+ stars books. That said, I seemed to have either read great books or sucky ones...very few in the middle!

4.5 stars
Tell Me Three Things by Julie Buxbaum The Thing About Love by Julie James
Great characterization for both...light books that also ended up packing an emotional punch!

4-stars
Killing Time by Linda Howard A Knight in Shining Armor by Jude Deveraux One Fell Sweep (Innkeeper Chronicles, #3) by Ilona Andrews White Lies by Linda Howard The Highwayman (Victorian Rebels, #1) by Kerrigan Byrne Seven Secrets of Seduction (Secrets, #1) by Anne Mallory

2.5-2 stars
Good Girl (Love Unexpectedly, #2) by Lauren Layne She Tempts the Duke (The Lost Lords of Pembrook, #1) by Lorraine Heath When the Rogue Returns (The Duke's Men, #2) by Sabrina Jeffries First Star I See Tonight (Chicago Stars, #8) by Susan Elizabeth Phillips Because of Miss Bridgerton (Rokesbys, #1) by Julia Quinn
I reviewed most of these...they run the gamut from bad plots, unlikable MCs, boring

DNF
Come Away with Me (With Me in Seattle, #1) by Kristen Proby - no conflict

Cece | 12 comments March was a great month for me too. I read 21 books. 6 were amazing. No DNFs.

I rated these 5 books 5 stars:
Hold Me (Twist Me #3) by Anna Zaires Tormentor Mine (Tormenter Mine, #1) by Anna Zaires Saint (Boston Underworld, #4) by A. Zavarelli Vicious (Sinners of Saint, #1) by L.J. Shen Stay With Me by E. R. Wade
Good plots, likeable characters (Vicious will require a bit of patience) and engaging stories. Standout book is Stay With Me

And this, 4 stars (I found the heroine annoying in the beginning so it lost a star):
Defy (Sinners of Saint, #0.5) by L.J. Shen
I loved the H, Jaime. Lovely story.

Lowest rated books - 2 stars:
The Hot One by Lauren Blakely Anti-Stepbrother by Tijan Sweet Addiction (Sweet Addiction, #1) by J. Daniels
Didn't like Sweet Addiction. The h kept slapping the H, even in public. Who does that?

The other 12 books were 3/4 stars.

There is no plot whatsoever. They meet, start dating right away and 2 days later they are sleeping together without protection (I mean, really) and acting up like they can't live without each other, confessing all sort of personal things. And they are both so shallow! They keep telling each other how beautiful the other one was.

My friend Alex said best in her review: https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...

Fran | 12278 comments All of my books for March ranged from 3.5-4.5 stars. Not a dud in the bunch :)

I really enjoyed them all, but I guess these were my favorites.....

Feeling Sorry for Celia (Ashbury/Brookfield, #1) by Jaclyn Moriarty Craving (Curio, #3) by Cara McKenna Reversal (Curio, #4) by Cara McKenna Confession (Curio, #5) by Cara McKenna Exposure (Curio, #6) by Cara McKenna Caught by A.B. Gayle

MountainKat | 31597 comments Wow March was a good month!! I love seeing all the books you loved last month - it's hard not to add to the insurmountable Mt. TBR!

D.G. - so jealous! I can't wait for the new Julie James book!

message 13: by Robin (new)

Robin (robinmy) It seems like everyone had a good month in March. I only finished seven books, but none of them were rated lower than 4 Stars.

5 Stars: Found (Mickey Bolitar, #3) by Harlan Coben

4.5 Stars: One Night Of Scandal (Fairleigh Sisters, #2) by Teresa Medeiros Take No Prisoners (Black Ops Inc., #2) by Cindy Gerard Hot Pursuit (Troubleshooters, #15) by Suzanne Brockmann

message 14: by MountainKat, Moderator (new)

MountainKat | 31597 comments I think it is better to read seven good ones that 10 iffy ones!!

message 15: by MountainKat, Moderator (new)

MountainKat | 31597 comments Definitely weighted to the good!

message 16: by Justme (new)

Justme | 106 comments I've been keeping up with my reading challenges, though it's a little tougher while I work in the yard a good portion of the day.

These were my FAVS:
Blood Magic (World of the Lupi, #6) by Eileen Wilks Night Season (World of the Lupi, #4) by Eileen Wilks On the Prowl by Patricia Briggs Mortal Danger (World of the Lupi, #2) by Eileen Wilks
& Christmas Eve at Friday Harbor (Friday Harbor, #1) by Lisa Kleypas

These were just okay (3*):
No Ifs, Ands, or Bears About It (Grayslake, #1) by Celia Kyle All Roar and No Bite (Grayslake, #2) by Celia Kyle
Touch the Dark (Cassandra Palmer, #1) by Karen Chance Claimed By Shadow (Cassandra Palmer, #2) by Karen Chance
I stuck with the Karen Chance because I read a few shorts & really enjoyed them...by book 3 the series has started to pick up a little.

I am SO looking forward to reading/listening to Chosen Pride! Just have to get it on my MeetnGreet list :) I rarely read a book that isn't on that list (unless a challenge absolutely demands that I read one that the list can't provide) :D

message 18: by Jane (PS), Moderator (new)

Jane (PS) | 24334 comments My highest rated from March was Twelfth of Never (Blind Faith #3.5) by N.R. Walker ~ a short story that catches us up on how the characters are going from the 3 books series. And it had dogs in it ;)

Most thought-provoking: Outcast Mine by Jamie Craig ~ prisoner planet - 4 stars

Books that have me itching to read the next in the series: Good Bones (Bones #1) by Kim Fielding Knave of Broken Hearts (Love in Laguna, #2) by Tara Lain The 13th Hex (Hexworld, #0.5) by Jordan L. Hawk - 4 stars

No real duds.
