This is probably a longshot. I just recently saw this blurb, I don't remember much about it or if it is a standalone or part of a series and unfortunately, I didn't write the title or author down. I don't even remember much about it, it was a very short blurb. The heroine cannot talk, not sure if she is unable to or had some trauma to prevent it. She has a boyfriend, husband( ?) that leaves her (not sure if he is ashamed of her or not) and another man comes into her life. Probably not, but there is one that comes to mind. First in a series. Think the guys are tattooist maybe? h is brought in my controlling BF to cover scar. She doesn’t talk (by choice from family dying in childhood?). H tattoos her and ends up hiring her to help with his g-ma... Alzheimer’s? Problem getting away from BF.

Sounds like one of the later books in the Reed series by Tammy Faulkner. Tattoo artist (not a Reed) is deaf as well. And to start with they only sign. I will look to see if see which one but I recommend the entire series.
