Actually Dimitris father is (view spoiler)[ Adrian's uncle (hide spoiler)], which they did not know until now. I really wanted to know who the royal parent was and not for a second did I think that it could be spoiler-above.

now you guys have me intrigued lol... i have started reading the book have only got to the part where jackie has arrived at the royal court to see sydney....
I just finished it. I was happy with how everything worked out but am more than a little sad for the series to be over!!! also - there could have been more Hopper....

I agree... Hopper can only stay one year. We should have gotten a goodbye..

I just finished it! I loved it, I really did and there were so many great things about the book I can't even list them all. One thing though...spoiler coming...Neil's decision. I can't understand it. It feels like he was running away from his responsibilities, like he didn't want to be a parent so he just left instead. I mean, if he'd truly wanted to he could have taken his son with him, and since nobody really knew about him there'd be no questions asked. Instead he just ran away. I feel bad for the guy, but I didn't buy that his entire reason was to keep his son safe.
On a more positive note, I think my favourite part was Sydney getting one over on the alchemists and putting her dad in his place. Also I'm so happy Marcus and Carly got together!
i know i loved that too and yea about her dad i didnt like him.. but i loved how adrian and sydney took on neils baby.. adrian was a natural with the kid...

I thought the same. He left his duty and I thought that the guardians were all about duty. Look at Eddie. He is a guardian when he is asleep. And I think I developed a tiny crush on Eddie. He seems so loyal and caring. And Omigod he lives with Sydney and Adrian. I'm still shocked about the revelation regarding Dimitri's father.

That's actually a good comparison of uncle Rand meaning shady, slimy, and just a terrible person. Was I the only one who thought as soon as they introduced Rand that he screamed Dimitri's dad?

I think in terms of Neil's decision, there will be a lot of mixed feelings. Though I think he left because if suddenly he disappeared from Court there would be a search go out for him. Then if they found him with a child, then linked it back to Olive's death, all hell would break lose.
Maybe they could of used complusion to let people know that he's died or some other story, but it wouldn't be fair. I think Neil knew that if he took his son, he wouldn't have a normal life. Declan could never meet people of his own kind-and he'd have to be careful who he meets, since it could go back to Court.
Sydney and Adrian gave him that normal life around people who love and care for him just as much. Not to mention Adrian can keep an eye on his 'specialness' that Neil could never of checked on if he'd left.
But think of it this way; at least he kept it touch via Eddie and still loves his son. :)

The problem is throughout the series we've been led to believe that dhampire babies are conceived all the time by dhampire mothers and those dhampire children usually never even know who their father is and nobody questions or cares. If people had known Olive gave birth to a child nobody, not a single one would suspect it was Neil's. Even if it Declan grew up and looked like his father, it's too bizarre a thing for anybody to suspect. I maintain that I think he left because he didn't want the responsibility and saw a scapegoat in the excuse about protecting his son and giving him to Adrian and Sydney.
Isn't Neil giving up Declan the controversial decision that will divide many Bloodlines fans from the Non spoiler tweets.

But what we also have to take into account is a lot of people at Court knew that Olive was missing; Nina, Lissa, Sonya, Adrian, Sydney, Rose, Dimitri and so on. If suddenly Neil turned up at Court with a child in tow, imagine the questions that would be put forth? He'd be asked who's the child was, where it came from, who the mother was and all sorts of other questions.
The problem being Neil is in fact the father, but he can't defend himself against the moroi, not mentally at least. They could use complusion to tell him the truth. The other people at Court would sense his-Declan's- magic, especially those with spirit and no matter how nice a woman Sonya is. We all know she would want to use him to further her research. :(
Neil isn't just a new character, we've known him and he's the gentleman. I don't think he would of left because he didn't care or want the responsibilty.
Not to mention, if he did take Declan and raise him; everyday he'd seen Olive in that little boy. He'd see the woman he couldn't save. He'd see the woman he loved, the woman he couldn't get to quick enough. That guilt would hang over his head for the rest of his life. :(

But my biggest disappointment was this:

And also, I think Richelle should have clarified that Alicia was taken away to witch judgement because for a while I thought they'd just left her frozen as a statue for the next 2 years.

Regarding Sonya I'm pretty sure she's eventually going to find out anyway because Adrian considered telling her during the book. As for Neil feeling guilty because the child might look like Olive, so it's fine for Adrian to have to feel that guilt, when he was there and directly could have saved her had circumstances been different, but Neil shouldn't have to, when it's his kid? I just disagree with his reasoning. I thought it was illogical and I do think he was just scared and didn't want to raise a kid.
I really think that if Richelle writes about the VA world again it would be about Declan. I mean he`s special. For all we know he can somehow wield spirit even if he is a dahmpir. I was so disappointed about Hopper only being in the beginning. For all we know there was a way to renew hoppers life and he could be a little protector for Declan. And did anyone realize they never mentioned anything about the age law being fixed. Just that Jill went to court to finish off her school year. I don`t like that The Ruby Circle was so short. I feel like she could have added a lot more. I wanted to hear what happened with Wolfe and Ms.Terwilliger. Did they get engaged or married. I wanted Christian and Sydney to show off in a fire match. I actually told myself that their was no way that Adrian and Dimitri are cousins, when I was looking at predictions a year ago. I literally screamed OMIGOD to the top of my lungs if front of my brothers and their friends, because I was so surprised and excited when I got to the part that said they are. I got weird looks and "Are you Okay?`s that I ran downstairs still screaming OMIGOD and fangirling all over.

ha ha ha ha, @Andria, I ran around the house being like, omg this can't be true, but it's true but it can't be true BUT IT'S TRUE!!!!!! And umm, then buried my face giggling (but not with laughter, idek what I was giggling with) in the book. XD
I totally agree with Andria. The book should've been at least 600 pages. And there are so many things that were unsolved like Renee said.

Now that everyone can have a child it would be cool to make a spin-off with only the children. A new threat but I can't come up with anything. Leave it to Richelle. Also the reunion with Jill was not what I expected, I mean... I wanted Jill to run into Eddie`s arms crying with joy. But the stupid warriors had to give her animal blood that just made her to weak to do so. When they described Jill like that, my first thought was when Sydney just got out of the small dark room right before reeducation. Don`t you think Adrian makes such a good father. At the end when Adrian was cooking I was really hoping he was making the meatloaf recipe he asked Christian for. I`m so happy they got their dream jobs, I was like Adrian would make a very sexy art teacher,im sure the kids moms were falling all over him. I know that Declan is not Adrian or Sydney`s blood but I hope we could`ve found out if Declan turns out to be a good artist or super smart like Sydney or a least what they were hoping for in their child. Did anyone think that the very last sentence was going to be "The center held" because I did not expect it to be "Always".

BUT HOPPER!!!! <- this is the only thing I will ever be disappointed about. I'm gong to have to write a devastating farewell as part of The Adventures of Hopper the Callistana at the very end.
I was kind of annoyed that nothing is really resolved at the end. Nothing is said about the age law, the quorum law, Moroi fighting, Dhampires having better rights, the Strigoi vaccine etc. Everything in the world is exactly the way it was at the end of VA.
