Double speeded my way through. It was hard work, but I did it! (Anja had gymnastics last night, which helped.)
Yes, I meant to type speeded. I think it's cute. :)~ Listening to David Sedaris's Dress Your Family in Corduroy and Denim... it's only 5 cd's, and kind of funny. I like it MUCH more than Yiddish Police. Ugh.

I made it to the halfway point in The Yiddish Policemen's Union this weekend. I'm not sure anything has happened yet...
I started The Singing Fire: A Novel last night (for my N author) and when I opened it, I found a bookmark around page 80. Apparently, I started and quit a while back... I can't remember why I would have put it down. The story is feeling familiar though so far...
I started A Secret Kept on Friday on my e-reader. I'm not trying too hard on this one right now because I figure I can finish it on my way to Germany later this month.
I'm still fighting with Les Misérables. Does it count for next year's chunky book challenge if I start it this year and finish it next year? The chances of me finishing it this year are slim to none...

How much of Les Miz have you read? If you've read about half or less, I think it counts for sure. :)
Yeah, the only way that The Yiddish Policemen's Union was even tolerable was by putting it on at double speed. I don't feel like that was cheating. I made it through! :)

I've finished 634 of 1488 at this time. I can stop and keep going next year. I think I probably will... Some of the books I thought I might read that I was pretty sure would count turned out to be only 700ish pages...
I'll stop reading it then! I'll have about 854 pages left... Maybe I'll try something a little bit lighter until then...
I just finished Take the Monkeys and Run and The Weed That Strings the Hangman's Bag. I started a new audio - The Lost Hero. I'm only 27 minutes in, but it's enjoyable so far. If you want it, let me know!
After reading 11 books in October, I have yet to finish one in November. I think I'll finish The Singing Fire: A Novel this week.
I'm looking forward to getting back to A Secret Kept next week when I'm traveling. I think I will also try to read The Kite Runner while I'm gone. After that, I'll only need to finish The Yiddish Policemen's Union and read a Y author to finish both of my challenges for the year.

I hadn't noticed, but that is pretty funny. I'm down to Y on both once I finish the N author I'm currently reading and the K title that I'm planning on reading on my trip.
I just finished A Breath of Snow and Ashes.... can't decide what to read on my ereader next! I am working on The Great Book of Amber, bit it is in Iowa and I am 4,000 miles away from it!
Think I should do the first sookie stackhouse, shogun, fall of giants, or something else? Maybe the Hitchhiker series?? Help!

I don't know! If you start with the first Sookie Stackhouse, you might be able to get through it and start another on your way home.
I decided to stop reading only Firstreads books and start working on my 12+2 challenge. I'm working on my 4th one. I feel like I've fallen behind!
I think that it will either be the first sookie or it mint be the first hitchhiker book.... decisions! !!!
You've fallen behind?! I have hardly read at all this year! I am getting back on the wagon and hope to finish the 12 + 2 this year!! Is the Ann rynd book on your list?

I'm currently reading The Left Hand of God and American Gods, as well as The Great Book of Amber. I also finally started a new audio book yesterday - Angels & Demons. :)

I actually just got done reading The Girl Who Chased the Moon. I loved it! It was such an easy read... there was just something so refreshing about it!

Happy reading!
What do you think of this? The Casual Vacancy
I looked through a few of the 43 pages of to-reads and people already giving it 5 stars before having read it because she's the "goddess" of fiction... I liked the Harry Potter books, but I didn't realize they were the standard against which all fiction must be measured. I didn't think they were THAT great!
That being said, I might read it...

It's not a giveaway, but Barnes and Noble gives away a Nook Book each Friday. Today's is Cold Kiss which kind of sounds like it could be good... http://www.barnesandnoble.com/w/cold-...
Sounds good. I'm not sure if I'm sold on it, but it has potential... and it's free, so what the heck! :)
Did you guys see this? I didn't even know it was being made into a movie! http://www.hypable.com/2013/08/12/joh...
I would like to. I can't wait! In a way I can see how they might tell the story, but I'm interested to see if/how they incorporate death as the narrator.
I read it. I don't have the audiobook. That may be a good one to listen to on my way to Silvia's in September...
I'm pretty sure that I borrowed it from the ICPL. Totally worth it! I can check and see if I have it, but I do think that I just listened cd by cd...
