I'm really enjoying Under the Lilacs. When you're done with Les Miz, you might consider this one. It's only 97 parts... 191 book pages. :)

I just added it to Mt. TBR! It sounds like a good one!

I just finished part 60 of 697 in Les Miz!

28 of 97! I think that it might be that the only other book by Louisa May Alcott that I've read is Little Women, but I read that book about a million times growing up! :)

I've read Little Women, Little Men, and Jo's Boys and loved them all.

I think that I might do another Alcott book after Villette on dailylit! :)

I'm currently reading The Prestige, which is a good book. So far, in 72 pages, I have encountered a form of the following word 4 times...I know it applies, but since this is supposed to be the journal of a magician at the turn of the last century, is it really a word he would use that frequently?

pres·ti·dig·i·ta·tion   /ˌprɛstɪˌdɪdʒɪˈteɪʃən/ Show Spelled[pres-ti-dij-i-tey-shuhn:]
–noun
sleight of hand; legerdemain.

Origin:
1855–60; < F: lit., ready-fingeredness, coinage perh. based on prestigiateur juggler, conjurer, deriv. of L praestīgiae juggler's tricks

He has also used legerdemain multiple times...

Jen (nekokitty) | 913 comments Mod
Maybe it was a bet with a friend to see how many times he could use the word?

message 162: by Sonja, (Da-Sonja) (new)

Sonja | 881 comments Mod
I have no idea...

Jen (nekokitty) | 913 comments Mod
That's how Green Eggs and Ham was written... Dr. Suess accepted a bet ($50) that he couldn't write a story using only fifty words. He won! :)

message 164: by Sonja, (Da-Sonja) (new)

Sonja | 881 comments Mod
Lol! If the bet was to use prestidigitation/legerdemain 50 times in one book, I'm pretty sure this author's going to make it.

BTW... I invited Coco to join us.

Sounds good!

By the way, I do like Villette so far! I've almost read the first installment (4 episodes)!

Jen (nekokitty) | 913 comments Mod
Totally off topic, but I'm excited! I made a suggestion in the Goodreads Feedback forum, and people seem to like my idea! YAY! Maybe the small change will get implimented! :) (http://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/3...)

I'm still working on The Prestige and am really enjoying it. It has to be read without thinking about the movie though. They are quite different. I like the visual aspect of seeing the magic better in the movie, but the book has more of the interpersonal connections and back stories which I like as well.

I also started reading The Woods which was a random pick on my e-reader. I'm really getting sucked into it! I'm reading it at work (I usually take a short break and eat dinner around 6ish). It's getting harder and harder to stop reading and go back to work!

Les Misérables is just sitting in my inbox. I have 15 issues saved up now. I'm thinking of suspending it until after tax season.

Jen (nekokitty) | 913 comments Mod
The Woods looks good! Was that one that I had?

Yeah, if you have 15 issues bogging your inbox down, suspend it till April 16! :) I have 6 issues of Villette in my inbox. I'll probably try to get them read (or most of them) this weekend. It's a good story, I'm just not finding time to read during the day!

Sonja | 881 comments Mod
The Woods was one that you gave me. I'm not even sure why I started reading that one... I had never heard of the title or the author before, but I'm really liking it.

message 172: by Jen, Super Spunky! (new)

Jen (nekokitty) | 913 comments Mod
Cool! I'm going to have to read it!

I finished The Prestige last night! It was great! The ending kind of snuck up on me, even though I was expecting something like it. It was a very fast read, though not very much like the movie. They are similar in some of the basic motives and plot, but very different in a lot of ways.

Does "releasing support" mean that they're going to do your idea? If so, YAY! Go Jenni!

It means they did it! :) That's so cool!

Yay Jenni! Now I'm going to have to reffer a book to someone by private message so that I didn't lie in my post!

I discovered that I can download Barnes & Noble e-reader books and they work! Yay since they generally have a selection of free ones that aren't realy old!

Cooool! I'm going to try that! :)

Just type "free ebooks" into the search and you can find them. A lot of them are romance or short stories, but sometimes they have other fiction and novels. They also have a good selection of ebooks that is $5 or less.

I just finished The Last Song... and haven't yet decided what my next audio book will be... decisions, decisions!

I just started the audio book of The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo.... I'm only 20ish minutes in, but am enjoying it. This is quite a popular trilogy, so I thought I'd check out the hype. The third book comes out in May.

Sonja | 881 comments Mod
I bought this one. It sounds interesting. I also saw that it was an e-reader one that I got from you.

message 186: by Jen, Super Spunky! (new)

Jen (nekokitty) | 913 comments Mod
It is! I think that we have the first two books, and I should be able to get the third once it comes out. :)

Did you see that Rick Riordan is coming out with a new series this year? It was on my B&N "Coming Soon" e-mail this morning. The Red Pyramid is the first book. I think it's supposed to come out in May.

message 188: by Jen, Super Spunky! (new)

Jen (nekokitty) | 913 comments Mod
I had heard about it! I enjoyed the Percy Jackson series, and will probably read The Red Pyramid... :) You should try the Percy Jackson series!!!! (I think you know that you have e-versions of them...)

message 189: by Sonja, (Da-Sonja) (new)

Sonja | 881 comments Mod
I have hard copies as well as e-versions! Now I just need time!

message 190: by Jen, Super Spunky! (new)

Jen (nekokitty) | 913 comments Mod
Well, I do think that they'd be easy and fast reads. I listened to them, that's the only reason it took three weeks to get through each book. :)

L,G,H, and S are filling up quickly! :)

message 194: by Sonja, (Da-Sonja) (new)

Sonja | 881 comments Mod
You've not done bad. I'm kind of focused on this list in my challenges at this point and figure the titles will fall whereever they want and I can fill them in later in the year (I'm not sure why most of my books tend to start with H and W though...). S is my biggest letter on the author challenge list.

message 195: by Jen, Super Spunky! (new)

Jen (nekokitty) | 913 comments Mod
I guess I'm doing opposite - I'm focusing on titles this year, but I thought it would be fun to see how it goes with authors too. :)

Do you want the rest of Villette? I didn't delete them yet. I could forward you the parts you don't have...

message 197: by Jen, Super Spunky! (new)

Jen (nekokitty) | 913 comments Mod
I think I'm just going to put it on my ereader and read it that way. I haven't really had any time to goof off lately... though you'd never guess that for today!

Thanks though!

message 198: by Sonja, (Da-Sonja) (new)

Sonja | 881 comments Mod
Lol. I know the feeling. If you change your mind let me know. My OCD/hoarding with books also seems to extend to electronic ones, so it'll probably be a while before I delete it.

Do you have Outlander in e-book format? I only got Dragonfly in Amber from you last time... If not, I can get it from the Sony store, I just thought I'd ask you first.
