MadameZelda | 651 comments I decided to read a Kindle-in-motion book. So I had to find one without paying for it (my sister's KU), and with free audiobook. The Matchmaker's Playbook (Wingmen Inc., #1) by Rachel Van Dyken . It's so cheesy, but I'll try to read as much as I can.

I knew a woman who lost weight and kept it off by reading. When she had the urge to eat outside mealtimes she picked up a book and read. It gave her something to do with her hands and after reading for twenty minutes or so the urge to snack would fade. It was slow but she probably weighed close to 400 pounds when she started and last time I saw her before she moved away she was down to under 200, still gradually taking the weight off, was more active and wearing regular off the rack clothes for the first time I'd ever seen.

Beth | 104 comments Just finished Where the Heart Is by Billie Letts. Really enjoyed the characters in this one. I have Pomegranate Soup by Marsha Mehran on order at my library.

Also read Bunny Lake is Missing by Evelyn Piper. An interesting suspense from the 1950s but it looks a lot of readers preferred the movie. I will have to find a copy.

I've looked at this series a few times, but never actually read any of them. I was always afraid they would be a poor-man's Harry Dresden, a series I love.

I felt that way after reading book 2. But since I'm caught up with Harry Dresden, I am happy to read these.

Beth | 104 comments I finished Manderley Forever by Tatiana de Rosnay, a biography of Daphne du Maurier. It was an interesting read, especially the part about her childhood.

message 370: by BLynne (new)

BLynne Finally finished The Historian by Elizabeth Kostova. It was fairly good but I found it to be a little long winded or wordy in several places. Plus I was a little disappointed with the ending. I've decided to read something a little lighter right now so I have started Through the Grinder by Cleo Coyle.

Beth | 104 comments I'm halfway through I'll Be Gone In The Dark: One Woman's Obsessive Search for the Golden State Killer by Michelle McNamara.
I usually don't read contemporary true crime but this book is fascinating.

message 372: by L J (new)

L J | 714 comments The Thief by J.R. Ward both book and audio. If anyone reads the series I highly recommend this one both for characters and story arc progression but if you haven't read at least some of the others you will be lost. The overall story arc is important in this one with questions that have been hanging out there for several books answered and a couple of situations resolved. We still don't have answers about the coffins but from Ward interview that may be only 2 or 3 books away.

The first book also ties in with a series called Brides of Beckham by Kirsten Osbourne about a mail order bride service.

Rebecca (mamanyt) | 129 comments LOL, I've run out of cozies for the month, having just read #s 1-13 of Joanne Fluke's "Murder She Baked" series, and can't order more until my check comes in on the 1st of July! OH THE PAIN...however, I'm reading "The Turn" by Kim Harrison, it is the prequel to her "Hollows" series, and so far, so good!

Cindy (wanna_read_all_the_books) | 29 comments I'm starting Running Blind by Lee Child, the 4th in the Jack Reacher series. I have recently read the 1st and 3rd books in the series. While it is a series, each book is a stand alone novel and doesn't have to be read in order. I had to skip the 2nd temporarily because I am borrowing them from the library and it isn't available yet.

Running Blind (Jack Reacher, #4) by Lee Child Killing Floor (Jack Reacher, #1) by Lee Child Tripwire (Jack Reacher, #3) by Lee Child

This is a great series. I hadn't read one in some time and read the one that came out late last year. Hadn't missed a beat! Reacher is still Reacher and still does "Reacher-type" things!
