Shelf #18: Shifters
Book: Living Dead in Dallas by Charlaine Harris

Read: 5/19/17
Pages: 289
Rating: 4 Stars
Review:
More time with Sookie but this time in Dallas. I enjoyed this one, and while I read #1 a while back and I was able to jump right in again with this one, without feeling like I needed to re-read #1.
I like Sookie a bunch, just a sweet, down to earth girl with her head screwed on. Other than her relationships with vampires and shifters and her "disability" to read minds, she's a pretty normal and likable gal. This book expanded on her relationships with the fellowship of vampires and their control over her and her ability to read minds. Sookie is expected to go to Dallas with Bill to read the minds of people to find a missing vamp. Throughout the story we learn more about the world of vampires, shifters and maenads.
I listened to the audiobook version and flipped back to the ebook when not possible to listen. The narrator does a great job with Sookie's accent and really presents her in the same way I would expect to hear her, if I was to meet Sookie.
Another well written paranormal romance mystery story... whew! That's a lot to take in...

Book: Out of the Dark
Date Read: 5/20
Rating: 3 stars
Review: After every one of these books I declare again that I'm done with the series. And then a challenge requirement comes up and I fall in again. What can I say? The author has a name that starts with Q! These books are very YA. And the editing is atrocious. There are so many instances where the author changed what pronoun she wanted to use, or her exact phrasing, but the original choice is left in. The first book in the series was really bad with that, but the last 2 had been better. This one was back to bad.
With all that being said, I still keep coming back to them. And, let's be honest, there are other Q authors out there. The real draw here is the snark of the main characters. It doesn't hurt that the werewolves are hot, but the girls' snark is what brings me back, every time.

And I get lots of exercise with all the eye rolling. :)

Another solid book from Patricia Briggs. I really love the dynamic Charles and Anna have, how they each bring out the best in each other. This book moved very quickly for me, and I enjoyed every minute of it. I'm definitely looking forward to the next one!

Good Job!! :D

Not Bingo for us, but Team #5 it appears. However, from what I can tell they still have some shelves to go, so who knows what will happen!
Shelf #19: Fae
https://www.goodreads.co..."
If they don't get caught up, next week will be interesting. This call means that everyone except about 3 teams are only one away from Bingo. It means any shelf called will be a race.
I'll make sure I've got one on hand that's a quick read!

Happy Friday friends!!!!

Stardust by Neil Gaiman
Read: 5/25/17
Rating: 4 Stars
Review:
Mr Gaiman is quite the storyteller. Every aspect of this story is just so unique! It is basically a love story. A story of seeking out, breaking rules to find your true love and along the way yourself.
As usual I enjoyed this story and the audio version was read once again by the author, Neil Gaiman. His voice is just delicious and so suitable to these types of stories!
I would have to rank this one high on the Gaiman list of books. A solid 4 stars. And I have to say this will have to be a must re-read because I think this is the type of story you can read again and learn new details that you missed the previous time. This book should be put on your shelf of classics!

Book: Finnikin of the Rock
Date Read: 5/26
Rating: 4.5 stars (bumped up)
Review:
I was pleasantly surprised by this book. It's been sitting on my Kindle for years. I really wish I had read it earlier! My heart ached for the people of Lumatere. I was rooting so hard for the heroes. I was pretty sure I had figured out who (view spoiler) This was a fun, YA Fantasy with no love triangle. I will definitely be reading the next book.

Team 11 - haven't finished shifters or fae
Team 13 - quite a few shelves behind
Team 17 - quite a few shelves behind
Team 18 - also a few behind

While I enjoyed this installment in the series, I didn't feel super connected to the characters, which made it a slow read. As usual, I enjoyed the scenes with Nix, but she's really not in it much, so I couldn't bump the rating up to 4 stars just for her. All in all, it was enjoyable, but nothing really set it apart from any other romance. I still plan on continuing the series though because there have been some really good books amongst the more ordinary ones.

Look..."
Team 4 just has to finish Shifters & Fae. And this one. The others are a few more shelves behind. So I guess this could go on for another week! :)

Thanks Laura! So far so good... definitely reminds me of Matched!

It was fun team... I really enjoyed getting to know y'all :D
Maybe another Bingo in the future???

If I have time, I'll try to read something for this week. If I'm not able to though, I want to say I had a great time playing with you ladies! :-)

Delirium by Lauren Oliver
Read: 6/4/17
Rating: 4 Stars
Review:
This read was nice surprise for me, a bit of a twist on the typical female "heroine" dystopian story. Our MC, Lena is a rule follower, a true believer of the way her country is run. She lives in a world without Love... it is considered a disease and infection, deadly. And the difference , the improvement on most stories is that Lena believes it to be true. She is not the rebel right out of the gate. Slowly, she learns more and more of the truths that she is not being told and taught in school.
This story was well done, more "believable" than most of the stories out there of the same premise.
I loved (ha), how Love was described as a disease, it's symptoms and effects truly sounding like a terrible and deadly disease. Very creative, loved it!

I don't think this was a winning call for anyone. I looked yesterday and I'm pretty sure Magic was the only other winning shelf. But I think this adds at least one more to the UF group with us.
