Review:
Ilona Andrews has quickly become my favorite author. Everything they write is awesome.
My only one nitpick is in the world building. The basis for the world is in the late 1800s, a serum was developed that allowed people to develop abilities. It was widely used between the military and high ranking classes for a time before being locked away. Now, powerful houses have formed based on their abilities and those of their offspring. I love the whole concept, mainly because I really wish I had abilities (alas, still waiting), but most of the world was similar including things like facebook and instagram. There were some differences, but I think there should have been more.
Other than that, I loved it! Nevada is a great character with a good sense of self and Conner "Mad" Rogan is an entertaining partner for her.
They meet when Nevada is tasked with finding a dangerous powerful magic user from a well known house and Conner to find his cousin's son who was last seen in league with Nevada's target. Kidnapping isn't the best way to start a relationship, but eventually they start working together.
Overall, loved it, can't wait for the next two. I'm so happy I don't have to wait 3 years :)
Small prediction (view spoiler)

Do you think You've Got Mail needed more chocolate?
Philippe Lyonnais, the famous pâtissier is opening his newest shop just up the street from La Maison des Sorcières, run by Magalie Chaudron and her two aunts. The two get off to a terrible start due to their mutual tension and rivalry all with an undercurrent of attraction.
It was a fun read with little magical touches in the shops and food. I always feel hungry after reading these books.

I love that series, Katie, and usually re-read it at least once a year.

Book: Hush, Hush- Becca Fitzpatrick
Shelf: Guilty Pleasures

Review: This is a sneaky book. I was reading along, thinking I knew exactly what was going on though not completely sure why it was happening that way when BAM- plot twist I did not see coming which threw my preconceived ideas out the window. Nora is a good student; a bit of a goodie-two shoes. Then she meets two new boys in school- Patch and Elliott. Suddenly, she is being stalked and her mind is playing tricks on her. And she has to decide who can help her and who is scaring her. I enjoyed this book and look forward to continuing in the series.

I am so sad that this is the conclusion of this series. I'm glad I gave this series a second chance, too, because I wasn't thrilled with the first couple books. They just kept getting better and better, though, and I think this was a good ending. It's great that there will still be some companion stories to look forward to and I'll definitely be checking those out soon.

Location: SOS book shelf
Week: n/a
Book: The Silkworm
Date Read: 1/20-1/25 (a re-read by listening)
Rating: 5/5

I love JK Rowling's writing. She is an auto-buy for me and a multi-time re-read for me. I listened to this book while I was London and it added to my enjoyment. Cormoran is a Harry Potter and Robin is a Hermione -- but all grown up. The mystery is so well done, fleshed out but the story is driven by the characters. Listening to this book inspired me to go on and re-listen to #3. Love this series.

I am so into this series. If I didn't read romance all the time, then I'd be reading fantasy. I really enjoy all of the characters, especially Lucivar. (view spoiler) I'm definitely looking forward to reading the next book.

I will not be by a computer when it goes up but will add a tracking post once I am back.

So this is my book. :)

Week: 3
Book: Blood Kiss
Date Read: 2/8-2/11
Rating: 4/5

I loved this book. It felt like the early BDB books. The romance was built up nicely, great tension. I don't care for Butch and Marissa so that part was just meh. But everything else - close to perfect.

Ok, I got the colors backwards. Even though every shelf called works for Reading Queens, they don't have their stamps yet. There are a couple of teams that are 7 away from bingo, but none of them are completely up to date on their shelves, so I think we still have some time (if we are lucky). We just need to stay away from those remaining corners.

Book: Cinder- Marissa Meyer
Shelf: Favorite Series
How it fits: on page 1 of the shelf
Date read: 2/12/17
Rating: 4 stars
I love fairy tale retellings. I'm not sure why I kept putting this one off, maybe it was the cyborg plotline. Cinder is a cyborg mechanic. Kai is the son of the emperor. One day, Kai asks Cinder to fix an android for him. This starts off Cinder's adventure, which causes her to question everything about herself. I think the reason I dislike the villain the most, is because one of the plotlines I find the scariest is the idea that someone can play with your mind and make you think things that aren't there and Queen Levana has this ability. She was appropriately evil and I look forward to seeing her get her comeuppance in the future. I will definitely be continuing this series.
